Commentary: Is it just me or are the TRC sales dropping? O.o I didn’t see the deluxe edition in ANY of the rankings at all (it was quite common for that to happen before). Is it because of the anime? Or because of the latest darker events? I thought Kamui would boost the sales but where are you, X fans? XDDDDD
One have to take in consideration that Nana and Honey and Clover are very strong mangas as it’s hard to battle against them. Anyway, it still got good positions, and it even reached the 1st place at Animate, the biggest anime/manga store of Japan.
One big surprise was XXXHOLiC’s DVD !!!! It won the very first place on 09/19 at Oricon’s ranking ! Way to go !
TRC Character Guide Cover Image:
User br_kenmirror has posted a preview of how the cover of the 2nd Character Guide of TRC is gonna look like and you can check it here (via clamp_now).
I loved the cover ! *-* They wear very cool clothes.
The ad says that the book will cover the countries of Sharano/Shurano through Rekoruto. I’m assuming The Country of Idols is among them as well.
Basically, this means the book will cover tanks 8 to 14, which adds a layer to the 7 + 7 + 7 theory. However, TRC can’t be 21 vols in total because Ohkawa said it’ll be longer than X. So the final guide will either cover vols 15 plus the remaining vols (regardless of how much more after 21), or the 7 + 7 + 7 theory is in fact a “7 + 7 + 7 + 7” theory @_@ Which would lead to 28 vols in total.
Don’t mind if you didn’t understand what I just said XDDDDDDDDD

woah I felt like…kind of sad XDDDDDD yeah it’s not you, the trc sales are dropping ;______; not much, but yeah ;___; maybe because it’s getting long…XDDDDD, I don’t think it’s anime’s fault, cause those who were reading the manga before and made tsubasa have so good positions should still be reading it…but…;___; but where the hell did they go?? just when tsubasa got so cool XD…but I dunno, not for everybody is cool, my friends that like tsubasa say tsubasa just got…insane and crazy and they didn’t like that…@_@ though I did XD but oh well, I cannot change minds.

I agree. Then it must be because of the latest dark events? But I don’t think so. I think the oponents, Nana and the others, are just really strong.

I hope so too. there are way to much anime and manga that I am planning on getting as well. But Tsubasa is the only one that I get both the Paperbacks in jap and the english ones. I would love to get the Hardcover but they cost me to much to buy them here. they cost $35 for the HC. that way to much.
Today I did a special order too get the calander (which I hope it comes earlier than when I got this year calander *i got it in July*)and a Figurine of Allen from D. Gray-man. *spend way to much.* That remind me that I forgot to mention about the 3d wonderland figurines that I wanted. *and I don’t even have a job yet.*

Eehhh?! O.o Nani?! I thought after all those big surprises, the X characters involvement, and all the Mokona love…I expected the sales to be high!! Damn the anime, it’s gotta be the anime’s fault (except for you “Scribbling Mokona” episode, I love you). I mean, come on people!! Some of these chapters were pretty intense and heartpounding.

I’ve checked out the cover for the Character Guide and I have to agree that I love their clothes!! Kurogane’s looks with the hat backwards reminded me of Sorata’s look on Volume 1, Chapter 7 of X manga. Do you think that X is either going to end in 19 or 20 volumes?
That theory of yours was very funny!!! XDDDDD That sounded like the theory about the crazy 7-year theory months ago that I threw a confusing formula. But hey, that was a very good try and perhaps you may be right about this.

I think it’s not the anime’s fault, as impossible as it might sound. The people who read the manga still do, I think.
I guess that the other mangas on the competition are very strong “enemies”.

Well, first of all, CLAMP didn’t say the revelation was about Himawari, even though it really seems like it is.
Second, I don’t want the 4×7 theory to be true xDDDD It’s too much ! I agree that XXXHOLiC and TRC will end at about the same time. Even though XXXHOLiC seems to be ending in much less tanks than TRC, we must remember that it’s publication is way slower than TRC O.o

I sure hope not! I think MAYBE I can deal with 24 or 25, if we’re going by the divisible by three-or-five idea that CLAMP’s other manga seems to be based on (excluding Tokyo Babylon and Chobits, of course.)

Oh, no, i hope the sales didnt affect the continuity of trc! Maybe is not the anime fault- but perhaps some of the good sales were because anime fans decided to read the manga- yes, even when we cant believe it, there are people who likes trc anime- and now, with all the darkness and changes, they dropped the manga. maybe they expected a story of adventures, magic and romance, and now they got blood, incest, cannibalism and a total change of protagonism. you know, i think clamp has made a risky move with the latest events. i love it… well, but maybe you are right, and nana and the others are serious opponents.
By the way, what a cool image of the trc team! syaoan sure look sexy and with a not so kind atitude this time! ah, i miss him a lot!

Yes, indeed. We dont know for sure, but in trc kamui and subaru are brothers, and they seem to be more like a couple. I´m not saying they are, just that they show an ambiguos relation that maybe shock some people- not me, in fact- And i never reed fanfictions, i dont like it.

It is true that the series’ focus changed a lot, but is also true that CLAMP is known for those things (blood, violence, etc), that’s what their fans are used to read, so I don’t think that is gonna interfere on TRC’s readership.
Besides, it got 1st on Animate ^_~

About the Character guide, the cover is so nice. ^_^ So, the first one was featuring Syaoran and Mokona, the second one Syaoran, Kurogane and Fay, so we can expect the third one to show Syaoran and Sakura.
But it’s weird. I was expecting the second CBook to cover the Tokyo part as well. As I was expecting the Tokyo part to end with the volume 17 (Yes, I’m a 7 + 5 + 5 + 7 theory follower ^_~) . Either the last part won’t have much worlds or they decided to separate the Character book according to the anime season or I’m completely lost with Ohkawa’s planning. ^_^

Yes, as you sure know, Tomoe could be very convincing some times. ^_~ Plus, since there’s only two books that closed with the end of a world (volume 7 with the Republic of Outo/Edonis and 12 with the end of Piffle World) and those world are some of the more “populated” by crossover characters, the 7 + 5 + 5 + 7 theory is one to keep in mind. ^_^

I agree. By the way. I realised some days ago that we will have chinese world in Tsubasa according to Tsubasa Deluxe 14 cover. Too lazy to tape, I explained it all on my livejournal.

I’d not heard of the 7 + 7 + 7 theory, but it does make sense 🙂 Only… you really think it’ll end at 28? I can see this going on for as long as possible (in other words, years and years to come. Or at least until CLAMP get bored of the characters 😉

I DON’T want the 28 volumes theory to be true XDDDDDDDDD I was just throwing out this possibility because if the 1st Guide covered 1~7 vols, and the second will cover 8~14, one can assume that the final will cover vols 15~21. However, we know it’s gonna be bigger than 21, so I thought “maybe there will be a 4th guide?” But I hope not XDDDD

You think? It’d seem a premature end to something that’s currently raking in oodles of money for them in merchandise & TV series/movie franchising. Unless people start to get bored of their journey to find all of Sakura’s feathers… but somehow I think the KuroxFai thing will keep fans interested :3

probably some people didn’t like the change in the ‘mood’, but in the other side other ppl loves it, like me, my trc16 is on its way (plus other stuff XD), it should have to be ‘compensated’, shouldn’t it? but anyway the sales are good

Well, not THAT different. I’d say the sales dropped around what, 25%? It depends on the ranking too. For example, I consider 1st on Animate’s ranking to be a hell of a good position. Because that’s the “point” of all anime/manga fans. Also, it was very common to see the deluxe edition getting to the rankings too, but I didn’t see it ONCE (not even at Amazon’s top “100”).
I expect the next numbers to be better since it’ll be a double release with XXXHOLiC 10.

I for one don’t see what’s wrong with the ranking. Yes, the sales seems to be getting poorer and poorer each week but if you look at the rank, Tsubasa has always maintained it’s position as one of the top 20. It’s considered a really big achievement when you are to see other titles competing with it such as Nana and Honey & Clover. Be proud, CLAMP fan! ^__^

Thank you for the cover! I must admit. Their outfits are gorgeous! O.O But isn’t Syaoran’s outfit the same as the one in one of the volume’s cover? But I love it nonetheless.
One thing me and my sis do agree on is that CLAMP should be a fashion designer as well! Their outfits are soo creative and beautiful. Call me bias but I actually prefer their outfits design than those from Paradise Kiss. *dudge incoming cannonballs and what not*

You mean the manga or de DVD? Well, even if you mean both, it’s not what it sounds XD Because XXXHOLiC #9 was released MONTHS ago, and it’s STILL at the ranking ! ^__^ And the DVD got 1st position, even if for only a day, that’s already thousands of copies sold.

Ah! the Guide book picture is so nice! I was fearing it would be Syaoran and Mokona again, I’m so glad we have Fay and Kurogane instead! (they both look pretty badass on this one ^_^).
As for the ranking, there were big names that week, it’s like when it fought against Fullmetal Alchemist or Naruto. It’s just very hard for Tsubasa to win against other big names because the series is spliting its own selling with the deluxe and standard versions while the other series aren’t. ^_^

the 7s theory is nice, but i’m not sure what evidence there is that clamp lets themselves be guided by the publication of character guides. but on the other hand, 28 sounds about right to me. 25 would be cool too. somewhere in there. ditto for holic, i don’t think it’s going to be over yet for a while.

It all started with the 1st guide AND the 1st anime season covering vols 1~7. Then we learn that the anime would be 3 seasons long, so we all did the math ^^” But everything can happen, surely.
