No Tsubasa this week, but we have XXXHOLiC scans, cleaned up at The Room of Requirement, scanned by the Great ladydarkmoon-san, of course ^_~
So, in the end, it wasn’t a doll, but a corpse O__o The reason we couldn’t see her face was because that would mean seeing her dead eyes.
Watanuki seemed very shocked by that, and I can understand him I guess. I never saw a dead body myself, specially that close, so I don’t know how I would react.
The fact is, did the woman just died like that while seating on the chair or someone put her there? 
I hope CLAMP will explain that because it’s where all the creepy-ness is at XD *loves crimes and murder stories*
This arc looks like it’s going to be long, seeing as it took 4 of the 12 chapters for this tank and it doesn’t seem that it’s over or near the end.
And the highlight, Watanuki getting the first grip of Himawari’s danger. Danger which is still not clear to me, but the promise she made with Watanuki made him to enter in that house, so, good thing she’s not.
That’s a big step, Watanuki will now look at her with a different angle, I hope, and thus the story will develop differently. I’ll be looking forward to that.
XXXHOLiC is taking a break next week but Tsubasa will be back. Ohoo~~
EDIT: The official site of the anime Code Geass – Lelouch of the Rebellion has been updated.
So it’s “Geass”, not “Gears”, and it’s “Lelouch of the Rebellion”, not “Rebellion of Lelouch” O.o And apparently that’s the definitive title (before there was a “temporary” near the title).
It looks VERY pretty, you can tell it’s a big production. And there’s already a movie in the works ! But somebody needs to warn the webdesigner about that “Whta’s New” typo XDDDD

Y’know, my first thought was, “Oh woe is me! No Tsubasa this week! I must relegate myself to just xxxHOLiC and complain some more about Tsubasa!”
But, well, the resolution to the problem of the woman was actually quite intriguing. Not to mention that Yuuko’s finally saying something to Watanuki about Himawari.
The only thing I’m not quite understanding is why the woman wasn’t in rigor mortis. I mean, her limbs were flailing about when she fell out of the chair, and yet she’s been in the same chair for a few days now. Rigor mortis should’ve set in… Or maybe I don’t know what I’m talking about. Or maybe CLAMP forewent medical stuff to make it look cool.

Watanuki couldn’t believe it because the body wasn’t rotting but Doumeki explains that because humans eat a lot of preservatives in the food, eventually their bodies become “preserved” too.
I guess that explains it ^_~

Rigor mortis lasts only for a couple days, and then the body loosens up, I think (?).

The disappearance of rigor mortis is one of the things that contributed to the vampire myth, corpses would be dug up due to mysterious deaths and they would be pliable as if still alive and only sleeping.

My belief is somewhat suspended on this story however. Food preservatives preserving your corpse? I dunno, methinks one would have to eat a -lot- of junkfood for that. Guess I’ll go research…. *squee* (people inch away)
v-Agrees with suppis_tenshi below, funeral home corpses are creeeepy, my g-g-ma died recently (rest in peace) and the viewing was so creepy. I had to force myself not to run away freaking out when I finally got the nerve up to touch her hand. It was so cold… eeeeeee… my baby sister was freaking out too… My kindergarten-aged brother wasn’t though. I remember a funeral when I was about his age, I wasn’t really freaked out about the body either. Man, I can’t think of how creepy a dead body must be to a baby. It’s interesting that she knew what it was though.

So now we wait for the next time Himawari appears, and both the guys are looking at her different. It will be very interesting methinks. Yet, I’m still curious as to how the woman died in a chair. And with perfect posture as well. XD And in a random note, dead preserved bodies ready for the casket and funeral give me the creeps, while pieces of bodies put up on display for biological study are fascinating. Cadavers anyone?
And damn, I need my Tsubasa fix. I want the rest of Syaoran’s story explained!!

Desperate for the translations for this one if only I can see what caused Watanuki to look so shocked in that last pannel.
Much love for the random dead corpse and I too am rather intruged with how/why she died.
And YAY the boy is finally getting how dangerous Himawari is…I just wish they’d explain WHY she’s such a threat…

WORD ! That’s the big question of XXXHOLiC, IMO. And I think that’s what Ohkawa-sensei meant when she said that once we found “something” out, XXXHOLiC’s end will be near.

…wow o_____o;; if you’re not used to it, like Watanuki, suddenly seeing a corpse is quite scary… but if you know what’s happening, it’s not that bad *just tried*
i forgot if i told you, but my chinese magazine has a chinese version of the july Code Geass pages, so expect that and this month’s scans 🙂 of course unless someone does it before me..

I just shouted when Yuuko is explaining to Watanuki about Himawari. Yahoo!!! more on DoumekixWatanuki. Lolz! my mind is rambling on boyxboy raburabu… sorry…
Here’s my take on Himawari on Watanuki…
Like Yuuko mentioned in earlier chapter, “Is she your lady luck?”. In some way, Yuuko warned to Watanuki but he have to see or realized it from himself. It something like, Yuuko wanted to change him in a good way and to be independent. It’s like “You have to learn your mistakes and your mistakes is your lesson.” So now, Watanuki is again being careless, something’s bad going even with or without Doumeki.
There are a lot of situation gave Himawari bad luck to Watanuki (the accident, the monkey’s paw, the spider, not to mention the near death in hydra etc) now this woman. To me, Watanuki is now carrying Himawari’s bad luck spirit/aura/presence (i don’t know the term sorry :P) and surely this is not the only time will happened.
I think Himawari is not a evil person but there’s a incompatability with her and Watanuki which is not their fault but it’s destined (well maybe Himawari born with that power). On the other hand the reason why Yuuko kept telling him to hang around with Doumeki simply because he’s safe and keeps away the evil spirit. Probably it’s also a destiny that being compatible with Doumeki.

I remember one of nick cartoons. Its Hey Arnold! I remember correctly, Arnold is a good friend to everyone. He doesn’t want to hurt anyone but of course there’s a boy that whenever he’s with Arnold, he had such bad luck. His name is Eugene. He’s a total loser plus combining his companionship with Arnold, he looks more loser. (Sorry) I mean Arnold didn’t mean any harm to Eugene but something really happens on him.
Probably Himawari is Watanuki’s jinx. In some sort of way.

That poor boy Watanuki. It’s clear what is Yuuko’s purpose on him. She wanted a big change for him (on my point of view) And clearly it’s not everytime you have to tell him something will happened bad or this will happen to you etc. He’s a 16 (or 17) and I think Yuuko’s trying to teach him to think independently and trying not to be careless. Since he wished all the bad spirit will avoid at him then go with Doumeki. He must figure out himself.
BTW, there’s really something on Himawari.

I read some of the earlier chapters, when Himawari and Watanuki were talking about Doumeki i forgot the chapter but I remember she’s thinking about Doumeki in a dreamy way (swooning?) Then I realized when the rain sprite was smelling Doumeki. Probably Himawari was a bad luck sprite?

This chapter is gorgeous, amazing and so one I really’d like to see that woman=doll face and at last we could see it! I am very interested in wat was aboout the discussion when the doll fall at floor. Yay and I had a right Watanuki had bad habit and it is connected with that silly ,childish game with pinky fingers [I really don’t remember true japanese name of this game.]
So it looks like Himawari is bad habit for Wata? I really would like to see wat in this situation will do Doumekia and wat is his role in this Wata’s life game xD . And what about that job from Yuuko-san [Wiiii~~ again her hair looks like puppy ears :] ]
