New layout !

March is X’s month. It was on March 24th that the first chapter came out and it was on that same day that X’s last chapter was published.

So, celebrating it’s 14 years of serialization and moaning over 3 years of it’s hiatus, I did this X layout (again). Apart from that, I’m also celebrating X’s appearance on Tsubasa ! Although I have to say that this layout was in stock way before I could possible imagine that the next world would be X’s world.

It started with a joke, I was only playing around with Photoshop and some new effects I had just learned, I could no way imagine it would turn out in a real layout. I was just going and going and I started to really like what I was doing.

The idea here was to create a VERY X-ish image (it’s totally based on the X drawings) with all the elements being “real” except for Kamui, the dragons and the feathers (I tried to search for real feathers but they looked awful). The Tokyo Tower is real, the Tokyo’s Governmental Building is real, the gears are real as well as everything else (I did the Big Dipper constellation and the paper with the pentagram by myself so you can consider them by being “real” too XD).

There are 3 tarot cards in it, The Sun, Judgement and The World, which are the 3 remaining X tarot cards.

This has got to be one of my favorites layouts (if not the one), I really really liked it. I loved everything in it, and it gave me a lot of work to make it.

I made a wallpaper version of it (1024×768) to those interested, I hope you like it.

  2. *blink*blink* Wow, that’s really amazing. Is the image of Kamui from X-Zero?

    lol. X really is March’s month, isn’t it? Maybe Ohkawa-sensei was feeling nostaglic and decided that Syaoran and co. would be in Kamui’s world by March.

  7. And btw what if the hiatus was intended because something needs to be shown in TRC before it can happen in X itself? *_*
    (I am paranoid and believe Clamp are mean enough to do anything…)

  12. That is *gorgeous.* It’s one of the best layouts I’ve seen.

    I bet Ohkawa did intentionally plan for March’s issue of TRC to introduce X… just a little shout-out to the fans to let us know she didn’t forget. ^^;; Seriously, she’s a good writer, and good writers never like to leave a work unfinished.

    Aside from Kamui and the stunning image of Tokyo tower…..I must say I LOVE the Earth coming out of the water….very X-ish XD And how you were able to get the tower and the Tokyo Metro gov building to reflect in the water….a work worthy of CLAMP themselves! *thumbs up*

      Ow that ! I copied the tower and the building, turned them upside down, made it a bit transparent and then applied a distorcion effect that looked like water ^^

  33. Ok….so i am still recovering myself from seeing this masterpiece of layout you have made……You know already what I think about it so I am just gonna say (again) that is THE MOST INCREDIBLE GRAPHIC I HAVE EVER SEEN…
    You are so talented in this oh my…. this is absolutely your thing, I think if you continue like this you are gonna become famous as web designer! ….people will refer at your websites like “OMG yeah it´s “an original Alex!!!”” XDDD
    Oh! and I am SOOOO TAKING that Wallpaper! *hugs it* XD

    I’ve been away subtitling the movies, and when I came here to see, I see your new layout! It’s amazing and suits perfectly with X.
