Tsubasa Chronicle #4

I’m FREE of those damn college works XDDD (I know they are good for our development, but man, they kill us >.<).

A bit late, but here it is:

IMO, this is an episode that could well be cut, aka, never made, because I don’t see how this episode is gonna change the actual plot, I may be wrong, though.

Although this is a scene which is not in the manga, I really feel the CLAMP thing… the symbolisms and the meanings. I really liked it ^__^

Syoaran is with Arashi taking care of a soon-to-be-awaken Sakura when he says that he’ll search for the feather. Fye comes and says “Let’s get going”. The designs look good, I guess that nightmare that was in episode 2 will not come back so soon.

Then we get to see a talk with Fei Wan and his assistant about Sakura’s heart, that human’s hearts are powerful (is she not human? XD)

Back at Chitose’s apartments XD Sakura wakes up and goes “nani?”. She decides to change clothes:

No, Sorata-san’s clothes won’t do good XD

She looks cool in Arashi’s clothes ^-^

CCS’s school uniform ^__^

And this is one of the dresses that appeared in vol. 9 of CCS. As my friend Sakura-chan pointed out, this is clearly an homage for CLAMP and their clothes ^__^

When Arashi enters the bedroom, she goes O.O for not seen Sakura in there.

Sakura is outside, with a pink dress, I wish she had kept the school uniform. She sees a bird and then follows it.

Mokona and Kurogane are eating (and teasing each other) takoyaki, while Fye and Syaoran are talking about the true nature of people, aka, that thing of their souls been the same even been of different worlds.

Arashi comes and apologizes that Sakura is gone, Syaoran decides that he must look for her, even though he doesn’t know from where to start. One thing is for sure, he can’t let her be alone. And then he runs… Fye and Kurogane decides to help too “What if those punks find her?” and Arashi decides to come back in case she appears there. After saying “Please, do so” to her, Fye makes a strange face which I didn’t really get why:

Go figure ! Maybe he’s just worried… o.O

*runs*Sakura, where are you?*runs more*

The punks find Sakura (who is looking to a bird’s feather o.o) and decides to “borrow” her so that Syaoran and the “black one” will eat in their hands. They call her gently but she has “no reactions”, so they decide to go to Touya and Yukito’s okonomiyaki’s ^^

There, Touya is serving them while Yukito is serving the rest of the restaurant (he’s quite busy XD):

Touya notices that Sakura doesn’t really know what an okonomiyaki is by the way she’s looking at it. She agrees with a cute “Un!” and then he asks her name, she replies been “Sakura”.

I really liked that scene, I mean, they handled it well, because Touya is not the kind of guy who would go in PANIC in case he sees his little sister of a different world. Because he surely has powers and knows about the multiple world thing. So, in this scene, when he asks her name, he’s only confirming what he already thought, that’s IMO.

Masayoshi is walking by and he sees the punk and Sakura on the restaurant.

Fye and Kurogane talk about not finding Sakura anywhere and he gives a sleeping-Mokona to Korogane, who keeps it in his pocket XD Syaoran comes after saying that he didn’t find her too…

Masayoshi with his kudan comes all “Syaoran-kuuuun” (I can’t help it, I love Masayoshi’s seiyuu >.<) and Mokona goes "Mekyo!" The good thing about the anime is that they are giving more clues about who has the feather better than in the manga.

Mekyo!

Masayoshi says that Sakura is with the punks and that he has an idea on how to find them.

Back with the punks, they take Sakura to this big safe/place, which is supposed to be the punks’ hideout.

This time is Sakura-chan in the commercial break pic ^^ Next time, Fye-san \o/

There, Sakura goes “How big!” (she’s so Chii in this episode). The fat guy finds a note of the other gang’s members saying that they quit, the fat guy goes sad because he builded that gang for over 25 years. Sakura consoles him, can you resist that cute face:

>.<

Outside, Masayoshi's kudan is sensing the punks and he explains that that's how he found Syaoran and co. back then. Then there's a really teary comment about weak people can only have weak Kudans. He can handle it so well, that's why his kudan becomes strong later, because he's strong, in the inside ^_^

It's night already and Hanshin's moon has pink color (calm down, hiragizawa XD), Sakura is all “Oh, so big” while the punk is talking about her… that if he had seen that smile before in his life, he would never had chosen this path in his life, and that he made his choice.

Shougo comes since the fat punk called him, he says that he’ll live a normal life from now on.

Meanwhile, Sakura climbed a really high place and the fat punk asks Shougo to use his kudan in order to climb up there and save her. He flies up there and asks for her to fly with him (since she likes high places), and so they fly.

From far away, Primera is looking for a Shougo and Sakura sitting together and claiming about “What is he doing? *pouts*”

Her seiyuu is excellent!

As Syaoran and co. arrives, a band of birds fly away and that makes Sakura goes “Huh?” *Clow Ruin’s sounds*. “My Feathers… I have to find them”.

She goes pink and, what? Falls from the high place she is and she glides O.O *philosophical talk with Fei Wan and his assistant*

Suddenly, after gliding for a while, the pink light fades away and she starts to fall.

Excuse me, but what was Syaoran doing looking BACK? He should be following Sakura straight away >.<

*ahem* Syaoran notices she's falling and goes get her. I didn't like this gliding sequence at all but I'll take it as a metaphor: Sakura needs her feathers (so that she decides to glide) but she can't do it all by herself (falls) and needs Syaoran's help (catches her).

Back at the apartment, *strange english song with japanese accent* Sakura is back to sleep and they are talking about her true nature, aka, her soul, which is able to find the light in the dark hearts, or something like that.

That’s it ! Even been an original story, it wasn’t screwed, but I still think is a bit useless, this episode. Sakura’s true nature we would have know for sure as the series goes on. Can’t wait for the next one with lot’s of Fye and Presea XDDD

  1. The good thing about the anime is that they are giving more clues about who has the feather better than in the manga.

Probably because they were trying to have the audience assume Shougo’s kudan had it (and yet still hint vaguely at it being Masayoshi’s). Clamp and their little random twists. ^_^

  2. I was waiting for this..:P
    >Although this is a scene which is not in the manga, I really feel the CLAMP thing… the symbolisms and the meanings. I really liked it ^__^
I really liked it too..^_^ I had fun trying to understand the symbolism!
    >As my friend Sakura-chan pointed out, this is clearly an homage for CLAMP and their clothes ^__^
I don’t have to repeat to you how I was glad about this,do I?XDDDD
    >She sees a bird and then follows it.
Those birds are surely another symbolism,IMO.
    >Mokona and Kurogane are eating (and teasing each other) takoyaki
That’s the first time I really laughed at them..they were so funny!^o^ Mashimo finally let go his fear for humor?:P
    >Go figure ! Maybe he’s just worried… o.O
    Uhm..you know,I’m not sure about it…something wasn’t right with that scene..*suspicious*
    >So, in this scene, when he asks her name, he’s only confirming what he already thought, that’s IMO.
You’re so right!o_o and I didn’t even think about it,but seeing again his sweet smile, you could be definitely right..Touya isn’t the type who smiles at every girl,is him?
    >the fat guy goes sad because he builded that gang for over 25 years.
    But how old his him?O.O
    >I didn’t like this gliding sequence at all but I’ll take it as a metaphor: Sakura needs her feathers (so that she decides to glide) but she can’t do it all by herself (falls) and needs Syaoran’s help (catches her).
Congratulations XD you’ve found out the key to understand Mashimo’s style.:P Actually,I still have to find out the reason why she lets go a tear before falling..I’m really interested to see if we can find it out later in the story.

    • >Those birds are surely another symbolism,IMO.
Yeah, they are in the OP as well…

      >Uhm..you know,I’m not sure about it…something wasn’t right with that scene..*suspicious*

Me too *huuum* that face and then 4 sec of “huuum” O.o

      >You’re so right!o_o and I didn’t even think about it,but seeing again his sweet smile, you could be definitely right..Touya isn’t the type who smiles at every girl,is him?

      Yeah, that’s how I see him ^__^

      >But how old his him?O.O

LOL! He look quite old… maybe he has a team even in his childish days.

      >Congratulations XD you’ve found out the key to understand Mashimo’s style

      Yey ! ^___^

      >still have to find out the reason why she lets go a tear before falling..

She cried and then she fell… it could be that she can’t cry while searching for the feathers, she can’t be sad, I mean, she must be steady !

  3. Er, I don’t think it’s a good thing. I *loved* the fact Masayoshi’s kudan thing was unexpected in manga, so I’m very pissed Bitch Train are egging about it. I love when CLAMP deceives me.

I think this episode was stupid and must be mocked not be taken seriously.

Sakura: what have they done to you. You were such a good girl, and now you’re stealing clothes, running away from your room, wandering on a city you don’t know, lunching with some punks you don’t know, then following them to a dock at night, go to the rooftop and hang out with another guy you don’t know, and then you go bungee jumping with no ropes, fly again in a suspicious horizontal position, and make yourself AND the moon glow pink in doom. You naughty, naughty girl!

Oh, and the last screencap? *cue E.T. music*

      • I swear, if King Touya knew the things his sister does when unconscious, he’d be taking the next flight dimension travel to beat the crap out of Syaoran for letting her unsupervised.

Oh, I was totally paroding E.T. And singing that “I believe I could fly” song over the Engrish song.

I was having a blast, mocking the amount of bullshit those animators on crack came up with this week. At least next week will be more or less manga canon.

        • >I swear, if King Touya knew the things his sister does when unconscious, he’d be taking the next flight dimension travel to beat the crap out of Syaoran for letting her unsupervised.

Yeah, I guess you are right ^^””””””

But sure, this week we are back on the track again ^^

  4. I didn’t realize you did reviews until I saw this. I was searching for one too. it’s fate that I stumble upon your blog again! Ho-hum. Lucky me.

Wow! I never thought of that! *slaps forhead in realization* I was actually wondering about Touya’s behaviour in this scene. You think of everything!

Sakura needs her feathers (so that she decides to glide) but she can’t do it all by herself (falls) and needs Syaoran’s help (catches her).

    You really do think of everything. ^_^;;

    • Yeah, fate ^__^ And I’m glad people are liking it! Because they are so much trouble to make XDDD

      >You really do think of everything. ^_^;;
      Ahaha ^^”” Thanks ! I hope I’m right ^^

      • And I’m glad people are liking it! Because they are so much trouble to make XDDD

Yes, I’m sure a lot more people (than you already know) enjoys and appreciates your hard work. Not all poeple comment, after all. XD Keep it up!

        Thanks ! I hope I’m right ^^

Don’t worry, in the mean time, at least I think you are. XD

  6. Oh my, at this pace they’ll end the season with Seishirou running away with the 5th feather. I though that anime would be really face-paced, with all the stuff that needed to be in between the begining and the Piffle World, but they won’t do it this year.

    Tomoe

    • Yeah, me too! On episode 6th they will still be in Hanshin… probably on 7th there’s already Koryo (which is not going to be called Koryo ¬¬)

      • Episode 7th as the first Koryo edisode is my guess (or maybe a bit in the 6th as well).

So my bets are, episode 1 for the Clow-koku, episode 2 for Nihon / Selece / Nihon / Hanshin, episodes 3 to 6 for Hanshin, episode 7 to 10 for Koryo, episode 11 for fogland, episodes 12 to 16 for Jade country and episodes 17 to 26 for Outo and Edonis country.

  7. Koryo is going to have a different name? Confusing…

Right now, after watching the horribly wrenched version of my favourite book [the American film about Monte-Cristo – I’ll NEVER complain about Gankutsuou again!], I am incapable of thinking something like this as a bad episode. I enjoyed it, thought that the characters were quite right [Sakura is not herself – she only has one feather!] and liked the character development. The ‘mekyou’ thing isn’t as nice as in the manga, but what in this anime is? I’ve watched worse filler, really. I just wish that they get to the business – looking forward to the next episode…

Takimoto Fujiko was the perfect Masayoshi since the first time he appeared. She has such a cute voice that suits him perfectly ^_^ I’m falling for Kikuchi Mika, too, I think her voice is lovely, and she’s a nice Mokona. ^_^ Can you people read the kanji for the other seiyuu? It’d be nice to know them, too.

    • Sure, here it goes:

      Syaoran : IRINO Miyu
      Sakura : MAKINO Yui
      Kurogane : INADA Tōru
      Fay : NAMIKAWA Daisuke
      Mokona : KIKUCHI Mika
      Feiwang : NAKATA Kazuhiko
      Shinghuo : KOBAYASHI Sanae
      Tōya : MIKI Shinichirō
      Yukito : MIYATA Kōki
      Tomoyo : SAKAMOTO Maaya
      Sōma : KAIDA Yūko
      Chii : NAZUKA Kaori
      Yūko : ŌHARA Sayaka
      Watanuki : FUKUYAMA Jun
      Masayoshi : TAKIMOTO Fujiko
      Shōgo : HIYAMA Nobuyuki
      Sorata : SUYAMA Akio
      Arashi : HIRAMATSU Akiko

      Tomoe

      • I knew all those, I meant the other characters [such as the crab guy xD]… And I think it’s Inada Tetsu, and Nakata Kazuhiro. Kanji can be read in so many ways o_O

  8. Napi, que nao tem LJ

I was waiting for your review. I wish I could watch Tsubasa episodes with friends so I could comment every scene right away.
There goes a lot of 2 cents from me:

    1) dont know why but Sakura´s monologue at the beggining reminded me of that Ayanami Rei´s poem from evangelion (but less confusing).

    2) Sakura trying Tomoeda´s High School uniform was priceless. Since she wears it in the last pages of CCS manga, when she looks about Tsubasa Sakura age. For me it was like seeing grown CCS Sakura animated.
The colors were all wrong (shoulb be blue, not pink), but that´s OK.

    3) The explanation you gave to Touya and Sakura dialogue is perfect, why haven´t I noticed it?
In CCS touya did meet a girl who looked like his sister but wasn´t her, and he DID act all natural about it. So it would be expected that Hanshin Touya would react like that too. You are a genius.

When I saw the scene, it came to my mind that maybe that Hanshin Touya didn´t have a sister like Sakura (not all the relationships remain the same in every world, see Fujitaka), and therefore wasn`t surprised when saw her.
But since their souls are linked somehow, it would be natural to Touya to feel sympathy for Sakura, therefore talk to her.
That´s what I assumed. It´s possible too, but your theory sounds better.

    4) Sakura flying-and-glowing-pink scene was ridiculous, even embarassing, completely useless and too dawn long. What´s with the horizontal position obssession?
And I know Sakura is still a bit slow, as in the manga, since she just woke up and has no memories, but I think she was acting as a complete retarded and so annoying in this episode, and she wasn´t in episode 01.

    5) No one commented, but the scene Yukito said to the punk guys he knew they were going to do something bad to Sakura was WEIRD.
When he said that I immediatally remember CCS Yukito was Sakura´s guardian (actually it was Yue, but…), and I thought it would be perfect if he protected her in Hanshin as well.
But in the next scene he was already with the punk guys, kidnapped.
Yukito sensed the danger and let the girl be taken by them?
“hey, I know you are kidnapping this girl, so I will just look away and pretend I didn´t notice?”

    6) Primera looks perfect!!! And sounds perfect. Actually almost all the seyuus are above my expectatives.
Syaoran, Kurogane, Fye, Shougo, Masayoshi, Shougo, Primera, and specially Mokona, their voices fit so perfectly.
Sakura sounds less genki and more sad than I imagined, but I can get used to it.

    Wow, I wrote a lot. Sorry…
