Card Captor Sakura ~Clear Card arc~ #15 first week sales report

© CLAMP・Shigatsu Tsuitachi CO.,LTD. / 講談社

The fifteenth volume of Card Captor Sakura ~Clear Card arc~ debuted at the 4th position in Oricon’s weekly ranking, with an estimate of 53,972 copies sold in its first week of sales for the regular edition. The Special Edition (Clear Bookmarks) landed on the 30th position, with an estimate of 15,447 copies sold. Combined, both versions sold an estimate of 69,419 copies.

This is the highest first week sales for a Clear Card volume since volume 11 (77,190 copies). It definitely seems like the series reaching its climax has picked up on the sales.

Moreover, Card Captor Sakura ~Clear Card arc~ volume 15 was this week’s most sold title published by Kodansha.

Finally, it is always worth mentioning that Oricon only takes into account a certain number of shops and preorders are likely not taken into account. These numbers are only an estimate and it’s possible that the real figures are higher than these.

Let’s hope it will make it to its second week.

Very interesting collaboration! I mean, Hello Kitty is crazy popular. This will be good for CLAMP’s portfolio. I’m quite excited and curious about this.

CLAMP PREMIUM COLLECTION: X vols. 18 & 18.5 covers

The covers of volumes 18 and 18.5 of X for the CLAMP PREMIUM COLLECTION edition have been announced!

No big surprises, at this point. Nataku and Kamui. ended up being the only ones to appear in the same volume cover as the original edition, and some fans guessed it right that Hokuto would appear in Kakyou’s cover. I love the background in the cover of volume 18.5.

Kyougo ended up being the only character that appeared in the original edition but not in CPC.

In addition to the 5 chapters that were only published in the appendix of CLAMP Newtype PLATINUM and in ALL ABOUT CLAMP, volume 18.5 will also include a few extras:

  • “X² IMAGE CLIP SPECIAL COMIC” (originally published with the “X²” image clip)
  • “Sora-chan’s Youth Love Love Fire” (originally published in CLAMP News 14)
  • “X Gag Edition” (originally published in ASUKA June 1993 issue)
  • “CLAMP IN WONDERLAND EX.” (originally published in CLAMP Newtype PLATINUM)

All these extras explain all the extra pages that were listed for volume 18.5 (apart from the 5 chapters).

Volumes 18 and 18.5 will be released on November 4.

This concludes the fun ride that was X in CLAMP PREMIUM COLLECTION. The next work has not yet been announced, but it’s going to be from Kodansha.

CLAMP PREMIUM COLLECTION: X vols. 16 & 17 covers

The covers of volumes 16 and 17 of X for the CLAMP PREMIUM COLLECTION edition have been announced!

So, in the end, we did get Seishirou and Subaru, which was the most obvious choice. I thought CLAMP would surprise us and leave them for the final two but I guess sometimes they do choose the most obvious choice after all. Volume 16 is Seishirou’s volume, no question about that. There goes my hope to see Sakurazukamori Subaru, haha!

I really like the background with the pentagrams and how the covers are mirrored (not only the pentagrams but their pose, also). I don’t understand the kanjis written in Seishirou’s one (does anyone know?), and Subaru has the Big Dipper.

Seishirou’s one looks great! He looks great. Subaru looks a bit off to me, unfortunately.

So the only ones left now are Nataku and Kakyou. Will Nataku be the only one, along with Kamui in volume 1, that is in the same cover as the original edition? Kakyou makes more sense for 18.5.

We’re so close to the end of this fun ride… =/

Here’s the upcoming schedule for CLAMP PREMIUM COLLECTION of X:

October 4: vols 16 & 17
November 4: vols 18 & 18.5

CLAMP-NET.COM launches its new version

After nearly 10 years, CLAMP’s official website CLAMP-NET.COM has a refreshing new look.

The new website follows much of the same structure of its previous version, there isn’t a lot of new contents to be explored, unfortunately. The new illustration featuring Sakura and the mascots is adorable and perhaps it will change from time to time. I also want to highlight the new profile illustrations for the CLAMP members drawn by Nekoi-sensei (in the ABOUT section). I love the minimalist design and the fact that they are all wearing (sun)glasses.

The WORKS section is pretty much the same as the previous version, with the exception that now they are using the covers of the CLAMP CLASSIC COLLECTION and CLAMP PREMIUM COLLECTION editions instead of the classic ones (not sure how I feel about this).

The biggest highlight is definitely the new CLAMP podcast, which can be listened from all the main podcasts platform as well as CLAMP’s YouTube channel, CLAMP netTV.

Episode 0 is already available:

The nice thing about listening to it on YouTube is turning on the closed caption functionality, which may be helpful to follow what they are saying. There is even an auto-translate tool which can be even more helpful. It’s not perfect but these technologies are constantly evolving so it’s worth checking it out from time to time.

Although in Apple Podcasts it says that episodes will come out twice a month, according to CLAMP the podcast will not have a periodicity. Also according to CLAMP, the overall tone for this podcast will be a more serious one, much like the former radio show that they used to have at KBS Kyoto station.

Very exciting! =)

Make sure to browse around the new website. They have also listed their official social networks, including Threads and a new LINE channel.

——————–

I was a bit disappointed with the new website. I was expecting something completely different, but it’s basically the same website with a new skin. I would have enjoyed it more 5 years ago, but 10 years later I expected something more, new contents and a more detailed works database. The podcast is definitely the highlight for me.

Card Captor Sakura Clear Card 2024 Calendar announced

Kodansha and CLAMP are releasing a 2024 calendar based on the manga of Card Captor Sakura Clear Card for the first time in years. It is the first manga-based calendar released for Clear Card.

The calendar follows the same look and feel of the original Card Captor Sakura calendars released in the late 1990s and early 2000s — except the typography is different — and features 12 illustrations previously released either as chapter title page or the cover of Nakayoshi magazine. The calendar cover features a new illustration drawn by CLAMP.

It goes on sale November 13 (same release date as volume 15 of Clear Card) for 3,300 yens.

Curious how they are releasing this only now that we are at the final stages of the manga.. What took them so long? Better late than never =) That cover is GORGEOUS!

Card Captor Sakura Clear Card arc #15 cover and release information

Card Captor Sakura Clear Card arc volume 15 will be released on November 13, 2023. This time, the special edition will come with a 15-piece clear bookmark set featuring the 15 illustrations that appear in the covers of the Clear Card volumes.

The bookmarks will come with a case to store them.

Here are pictures of the volume cover and the special edition:

Volume 15 is listed as having 160 pages, which is the average number of pages for Clear Card. This volume probably includes up to Chapter 75.

Love the “redness” in the illustration!
