We continue straight from where we left off in Chapter 73, with Watanuki and Haruka’s conversation.
Haruka is basically telling Watanuki that he should sleep, like real sleep, and have some rest. Here we learn that indeed Watanuki already paid his price to Masaki, because Haruka tells him that if Watanuki wants to win something, he needs to give up something in return (and that Watanuki knows this very well).
Their surroundings start to darken until Watanuki is left alone again in a pitch-black place, surrounded by darkness. There’s pipe smoke around him and he senses the smell of Yuuko’s pipe (!!). He wonders if Mokona left it lit somewhere in the shop. Watanuki then points out that although they use the same type of tobacco, hers has a different smell.
Then, he hears the same “Don’t go that way” that he heard last chapter, but this time around he recognizes the voice as being Yuuko’s! But he immediately starts to second guess himself, that it could be his mind which wants the voice to be Yuuko’s, or it’s someone else’s voice that he is making it seem like it’s Yuuko’s. But then he adds that if he wants the voice to be Yuuko’s, it will be so.
So, the voice wasn’t Syaoran’s. It was Yuuko’s. The most likely conclusion is that Watanuki was having a near-death experience and Yuuko “warned” him to not continue (since she is dead). But then again, not even Watanuki seemed completely sure that the voice was Yuuko’s.
After a few hours, Watanuki wakes up and apologizes to Maru and Moro, who have both been worried about him. He apologies again.
With a single move, Watanuki burns all the protection that have been surrounding the shop since the fiasco with the Fuuri took place. And with the same gaze that reminded me of Yuuko’s, Watanuki says that the next move is theirs.
Okay so not much happened in this chapter again… they are still edging us. This chapter was useful to find out that Watanuki already paid his price to Masaki and that the voice seems to be Yuuko’s, but we still don’t know what Watanuki’s wish is and the price he paid for it. The price cannot have been his memories of Yuuko, after all he still remembers her…
Watanuki needed to go through this to come out stronger and more determined. His eyes on the last page are full of wisdom. They are the eyes of someone who knows what they are doing (just like Yuuko at all times).
I hope next chapter we will start seeing some use for the dragon amber, the crimson pearl (remember them?) and Seoritsu-hime’s book.
A lighter 12 pages for this tenth chapter of volume 6. 142 pages so far for volume 6! I’m pretty sure this volume will have 12 chapters as well (same as volume 5), which means there are 2 chapters left.
Chapter 75 will come out on April 13th.

Regarding Watanuki’s gaze on the last page, there’s something wise about it, but also something tranquil.
I got the impression that it had been a long time since I’d seen an expression like that on his face.
Thanks again for the review!
