First off, I would like to express my indignation towards this chapter’s page count. 12 pages? Twelve? As if 14 weren’t hard enough… I hope this pattern won’t repeat itself.
After such a long time, we get to see Chitose again, I just wish they would show her doing something else other than sweeping (hasn’t she done that enough in Chobits? xD). I love how she sees right through Kobato and always know when she’s worried about something. She’s such a mother X3
Sometimes, it hurts a little when all you can do is watch.
She has such a sad expression on her face, I wonder what she’s talking about… Does she know anything about Kobato’s mission? The way she keeps helping her out, I wouldn’t be surprised if she did, specially since in Chobits she was much more than a landlady.
Or is it something about her family? Icchan, are you treating her well? Where are you, by the way? Every time I see the ring in Chitose’s finger, it reminds me of you X3
People like you, who don’t know anything about her past…
Maybe people like you can still look up at Sayaka, instead of looking down on her.
Ehhh, what do you mean here, Chitose? Did Sayaka behave badly in the past? What secrets does she hide? Maybe the Debt Collector isn’t as bad as we think…
And she healed Chitose! Woah, that was really quick xD Is that her ONLY wound? Is she that happy that everything she needed was a couple of words of comfort? Or does she have bigger wounds? Either way, the 8th Drop is in.
I wouldn’t’ve been surprised if the piece she just got had disappeared after that!
I hope Ioryogi is just joking here… please don’t tell me the pieces can disappear out of the bottle too…
He’s Sayaka’s ex-husband.
Revelation, finally! I kept thinking the Debt Collector was Sayaka’s brother, I even wrote that at Fukanou na Shigoto (god, I will never write anything there again until I’m absolutely sure of it xDDD). But you might not believe me, but a few weeks before this chapter was out, it occurred to me that he might be her ex-husband.
What made me think that they were siblings was the fact they they have very similar looks (straight black hair, kind eyes), and because they both had the same surname. I thought that, if they were divorced, they wouldn’t share the same surname anymore. But I forgot that some wives keep the surname of their ex-husbands even after the divorce.
Which makes me think of two things:
1 – They either weren’t “officially” divorced, because when a married couple gets divorced by the law, the wife can choose whether she wants to keep her ex-husband’s surname or not unless the law judges her unworthy of it. Or, they were officially divorced and she chose to keep Okiura’s surname. Chitose, for example, changed her name from “Chitose Mihara” back to her maiden name “Chitose Hibiya” after Icchan died in Chobits… never really got why if she loved him so much…
2 – If she chose to keep the surname, I wonder if she still loves him… course she does~
This makes things a lot more interesting… a divorced couple? I don’t think we saw this before in a CLAMP work O.o

Chibi Yuuto's CHRoNiCLEs 
Maybe Chitose always kept her ‘Hibiya’ surname (and never used Mihara at all) because they were both professionals in the same field of work. I had two teachers at primary school (18 years ago) who were married and Mrs. Edwards always went by the name Miss. Hawkins (her maiden name) until about 10 years ago, when he transferred to a different school, even though they had been married for several years. I think it was to prevent confusion, but when he came back after a year she continued to use Mrs. Edwards since the students had gotten used to her as that. In Chitose and Icchan’s case, it would make sense, especially if they were working in the same labs, to not have two Mihara-sans/senseis.
I assumed Okiura was Sayaka’s husband merely because of how Fujimoto reacted to him. Fujimoto’s protectiveness of Sayaka seemed to be someone protecting a woman from an ill-treating boyfriend, not someone who was caught up in a sibling fight. There was also a touch of jealousy, which makes sense with Fujimoto’s crush type thing on Sayaka.
All in all, 12 pages is not enough, but I’m happy to get any pages we can! I love Kobato!

No, ’cause if I remember correctly, Chitose told Hideki that after Icchan died, she changed back to her maiden name, Hibiya. So I guess she was named Mihara at some point.

Sure, but it could have been ill-treating brother too. I’ve seen siblings having really major issues with each other, things much worse than normal sibling fight.

Yeah, but I don’t see his jealous as a love jealous as in I-want-her-to-be-my-girlfriend jealous, more like a brotherly jealous, like Touya’s jealous with Sakura and Syaoran.

Man, I was sad when I saw that there were only 12 pages. This is a monthly manga! Shouldn’t there be like 30 pages? XD
And wow, I didn’t expect Kobato to already get another heart. Maybe Kobato should just keep talking to Chitose, and hopefully her words will just keep healing her heart. XD Those hearts are so tiny, so it seems like she’ll take forever filling it up, so she should needs to speed up her process if she wants to get to that place on time before she’s an old lady!
And the debt collector is her ex-husband?! Like you, I was expecting a sibling. I thought maybe Sayaka was a mean sister, and this was just his way of revenge. XD But ex-husband makes more sense now that I look back on the chapters.

We know Newtype limited CLAMP to draw a certain number of pages, but 12 is way too little! It’s actually just 11 pages of actual story if you discard the splash page =\
Following a monthly series like that is surely painful.

LOL! Their appearances fooled me, and the same name thing even though they weren’t living with each other. But I think this way is more interesting, as a divorced couple ^^ And yeah, it does make more sense.

Yes indeed, the latest chapters had the same pace. It was just as painful xD
However, X is a lot harder to draw, it takes more time and attention, so it’s more understandable than Kobato. But it’s not CLAMP’s fault. Newtype is the one to blame xD

I thought she just meant that she wants to help Sayaka, but can’t do anything to make the problem (Okiura) go away.
And Okiura being Sayaka’s husband is a suprise that when I read it, I thought I should of realized it…. You think she still loves him? To me, it kind of seems that she is afriad of him. Or maybe guilty about something, I don’t know, but I really doubt them getting back together.

Yeah, it could be she was talking about Sayaka, but since Kobato hadn’t mentioned anything about the “problem” yet, she could be talking about something else O.o
Guilty, yeah, she might be feeling guilty, specially after what Chitose said about her… apparently Sayaka wasn’t always a good girl. But I do think she still has feelings for him… Did you see how she react with the chocolate cigarettes?

Ex-husband? You’re right, that’s a first from CLAMP. heehee, I believe you about changing your guess about the two of them from siblings to a divorced couple. I thought they were married myself. Now it turns out that they are at the very least separated.
I want to see Icchan. At the rate Kobato. is going it might take a year before they get to halfway of their story. But I hope not.

And yes, I did think that they were married. They just seemed like a couple to me, and what with the way Fujimoto is so protective of her and his animosity toward Debt Collector-san for hurting her. (It kinda reminded me of Touya vs. Syaoran, only with more drama)

Yeah, a divorced couple is really rare *tries to think of another manga where it comes up*…hm…only in TB there is a wife left alone with her baby, the husband run of with another woman…though they aren’t divorced..

I think in Japan, a married couple must share the same surname (usually a woman will legally change her surname to her husband’s, but in some cases, a man may take his wife’s surname). Now, a woman may keep using her maiden name, particularly if that’s the name she is using/has used in professional setting. For example, Hikaru Utada continued to work under the name “Hikaru Utada” after she married, but legally needed to change her name to “Hikaru Iwashita”. (hahaha… I got this info here and here from wikipedia) I don’t know what happens when a couple divorces, if she can legally change her name back or not.

At least the Brazilian law states that the woman is free to choose whether to carry on with her ex-husband’s surname or not. If the husband claims for it, the law might re-consider and force the ex-wife to shift back to her maiden name, though.

You think so? XD I think they make such a great couple… I don’t know what went wrong, and I think Sayaka is somehow guilty, but I’ll be hoping for a reconciliation xD

Well only 12 pages, but what a revelation. I thought the two of them was married since they shared the same family name and seemed to be in love, but I didn’t thought they were divorced.
As for Chitose heart healing, I guess it’s not really talking with Kobato, but knowing that someone take care of her friend Sayaka, when she can’t, that soothed her pain. I guess Sayaka is the kind of person who refuse to be helped. And it can be painful for family and friends to know that no matter how bad a situation is the beloved person won’t accept any help. Or worste, she not asking for help plus she’s the kind of person who always works on projects and dreams she know she can’t acheive.
I’m kinda in a hurry for now, but you can ask Tomoe for Chobits scalantion, she has them on her computer.
Well, I can’t help with the name matter since it differs to much from one country to another. Like in the province of Quebec in Canada where I live, getting married isn’t reason enough to change your name. It in the law since 1982 (too much paperwork, I guess! Plus your name is your name, period). Well, we are are the exception in Canada where nearly every married wives change her name. But I have a friend who getting out with a Japanes. I’ll ask him about it.
