Kobato. Drop. 1 by CnL

All these dots drive me crazy @_@

You can download scanlations of Kobato. Drop. 1 in CLAMP No Lumiere!

This chapter was a tiny nightmare to edit xD The more SFXs, the harder they are (and I know iamsocool12345 agrees with me xD).

Erasing the original SFX (always taking care to not ruin the image), finding the most suitable font, placing it in the same position… sometimes I spend 20 minutes in a single page. It’s way beyond erasing the speech bubbles and filling them with translations xD

But once it’s over and you look at the final result and you like it, it’s all worth the broken wrists ^_______^ LOL! Kidding, no wrists were broken during the making of this chapter xDDDD

I (we) hope you enjoy it as much as I (we) did making it!


First of all, I would like to thank ladydarkmoon for scanning the brand-new colored page of Kobato that was published two issues ago in Newtype. Thanks a lot! ^__^

Then, we have the continuation, yahoo! It’s so great to see Chitose’s apartment complex, Chitose herself sweeping the floor (although she could do something else than sweeping xD). That cozy atmosphere of Kobato is back again ^___^ That’s what I like about Kobato., it’s so humble and there’s this “ordinary day” feeling about it.

Kobato says she wanted to finish “those cards” before going to sleep. What cards is she talking about? Sayaka’s birthday is on November 13th, could it be that she was working on her birthday cards? O.o Oh, and by the way, yesterday was Kobato’s birthday, November the 2nd xD

Ioryogi said that Kobato’s got six more pieces at the bazaar, but considering the first piece is Toshihiko’s, shouldn’t the total be of 7 pieces, then? We can see there are 6 “drops” inside the bottle, one of them definitely came from Toshihiko, then it should be five from the bazaar, not six, CLAMP *stares*

And I thought we would see how she gets each drop individually (like Sakura’s feathers), but apparently that’s not a rule. I think some of them we will see, while some we won’t. Maybe because it takes a lot of drops to fill the bottle xD But 1 volume = 6 drops, she’s doing good! ^^

We’ve got some Kobato/Fujimoto development there, don’t we? She already let him feeling quite uncomfortable when she showed her concern about his well-being xD We don’t get any blushing there, but at least a sweat drop xD It’s going faster than I expected.

The debt collector calls in again! I think they haven’t paid him yet, but even though they got a lot of money from the bazaar, I don’t think this story ends here xD

    And I loved it when he pinched her cheeks!! It was so cute XDD
    They made some money from the bazaar, but I don’t know if sayaka actually saves any to pay her debt instead of buying new mattresses, ne?
    Plus you’re right about the pieces in the bottle, looks like there’s only 6 of em XDD

      I wonder that too XDDD With so many debts, and she’s spending money on new blankets? XD She’s not stupid enough to not save the right amount for the debt, right? XD

    Uggggggggggh, no. D8< I was hoping that CLAMP would go for Fujimoto/Sayaka. I just can't see Kobato romantically involved with anyone, let alone Fujimoto. *sigh* Oh well, what can a person do?

    Glad to see the series is finally moving forward instead of just trying to catch up where it left off.

      You forgot the premisse of Kobato? Apparently she’s forbidden to fall in love with anyone X3

      Fujimoto/Sayaka, they grew up like siblings, I don’t think he would develop any romantic feelings for her.

        I… actually spent most of the series under the impression he does have at least a crush on her. Could just be me misreading things?

        • It was “written down” on the advertisings of Kobato (Temporary), it has never been mentioned on the manga, though. I think they might mention it later ^^

    The six hearts thing is probably just a goof…or the other one is hiding behind all the others. 😛

    There’s definitely some Kobato/Fujimoto development but at this point Kobato is completely oblivious. Fujimoto would have to be very dense not to notice after all of Sayaka’s teasing. xD Hopefully Okiura will show up in the next chapter.

    ohhh, I missed everyone so much :3, chitose-san, fujimoto and sayaka…
    I mean we saw them…but not interacting with kobato xD
    yeah I think there’s definitely some kobato/fujimoto development…I think we didn’t get any blush from fujimoto because it would be moving kinda fast, so we got a sweat drop instead….I guess the blush will have to wait a little longer xD sayaka is so cool when she teases him hahah and AHA! debt collector! things will get messy again! yay! xDDDD

    i didn’t count the drops xDD but i was surprise that she got a lot of them :DD yay!. I also adore the developing of the Story and i’m totally in love with the relationship between Kobato and FujiMoto, makes me laugh and to think a lot at the same time, thank you CLAMP just what i needed!! xDDD ; well..an other CLAMP story that will suck by brain off xDD♥

    btw!!! i have some problems with the web site resolution , i can’t scroll down to the “new chapter links”, and i had to take the zip-link through the web site codes, sorry o//o but i couldn’t do anything else
    here, as you can see, is what seems to be the problem.. 😦

    i’ve already changed my pc screen resolution, still can’t go down U__U

      About your problem, oh noes, that’s terribly bad. Looking at it, my first suspicious is because you are using FireFox, but I’m not sure. However, this layout is very problematic and I’m quite aware of that =\

      • yeah, it’s rly bad but, you know, i’ve been using Firefox about like 2 months by now, and this problem has been happening to me(with this web page only :S) like a long time ago, so i’ve already open it with IE, and it’s practically the same problem :'(. But is ok ,you know.. and can use some tricks to get the links xDD. A new Layout will be so refreshing :3

    This chapter was definitely a transition chapter. Not too much happened here! I’m a little worried that they’re going to continue making the chapters with such a short amount of pages…it worked well for the exams but now that they’re back on track I’m a little concerned. :/

  19. I have been out of the loop, Livejournal and CLAMP-wise, for a little over a month or so… And now I’m extremely confused, Kobato-wise. @_@ What is this “Drop” business? I thought the new Kobato were named Exam 1, 2, etc… If you could please explain this to me, or point me to an entry where it’s explained, I would really really appreciate it. ^_^
