And more, the media adaptation is going to be announced next week! Check it out after the cut!
First and foremost, at the top of the splash page it’s written that some “big news” are going to be announced on the obi (belt) of volume 19 (to be released next week). I can only assume it’s about the media adaptation we’ve been hearing from months I’m gonna kill myself if it’s not xD I’m so excited about it!! ^^ Here’s the picture with the promised announcement:

Oh yeah, this week’s chapter xD
Pretty splash!
Loved Fye-… ettou… we’ll talk about that later *ahem* Loved Fye’s eye meeting his twin’s!
We are thrown right away inside Fye’s past, which is great since we’ve been waiting for it since they showed Kurogane’s. Then we get a panel showing that CLAMP watched and loved “The Ring”, with a little “out, my nail!” moment XD
Okay so let’s start from the beginning. So Fye is not a “Celesian”, but a “Valerian” xD Sweet Fye Valerian He has a twin and their father was the younger king from Valerian, which makes the twins princes. At least we got to know he really is Fye’s “twin”.
For some bloody reason, the people from that country thought that having twins was a really bad omen. Soon enough, everything started to fall apart in the country. Now, I’ve seen this story before… about twins of misfortune, but where was it? Surely some kind of legend…
Anyway, the country’s situation was bad, and they believed it was all due to the cute twins. I wonder if Fei Wang had anything to do with that, in fact, don’t you think the King looked like a disguised Fei Wang? XDDDDDDD
Apart from that, the children had an immense amount of magic, and yes, you guessed it, if they were to grew up together, they would surpass the power of anyone from that country. So they had to be locked separately. (Where, oh WHERE did I see this before? XDDD).
We see that Fye was always pretty (after we saw the demon he became when in jail, I actually wondered how he became so pretty xD), and that his bizarre ancient look in a child’s body is probably due to the time of the tower which they were locked up that flows differently (surely faster?). Either way, I want to know if he borrowed some of Ashura’s “Wine of Youth” to get back on shape xDDD
After this chapter, I am sure that, as I thought, Fye did NOT choose himself when Fei Wang gave him the option. The twins hold hands when the Emperor “kindly purposed” they could kill each other, aww. Fye would never had chosen himself instead of the other, specially if he tried to save the other several times. Fei Wang either cheated very badly or, in that moment and according to Fei Wang, that was the only way of “leaving” that tower.
I’m amazed by the cruelty of the King and everybody else from the kingdom of Valeria. The way he talks to the children it’s made for only one purpose: to shock whoever is reading it. The valley of the sins it’s just too cruel. And their mother, who killed herself because she gave birth to them? It’s hard to believe but there were and still are people like that.
Is that why Fye doesn’t like to use magic? In respect of what happened to his twin?
And then, the surprise element of the chapter, FYE IS NOT FYE! I mean, his name is not Fye! OMG, I DID NOT see that one coming o.o
We can assume that because the one below called out for “Fye” and the one above for “Yuui”, we know the one above died, which means “Yuui” is Fye’s real name! He used his brother’s name!
My guess, right now, would be that he wanted to save his brother in the first place, he wanted him to live. So by using his name, he’s actually making his brother to live through him. Or maybe I should go to bed? @_@
The sudden corpses falling in the valley got me curious… indeed what happened that killed so many at once? o.o

I’m a bit disappointed by this chapter, actually; but I’ll forgive it for how squeaky cute the twinnies are.

thanks a bunch for the cleaned scanns =D they actualy load for me on this comp.
god, it sickens me on how crule they were to the twims =( it so sad, how can then be so selfish and horrible to such adorible kids? I cant understand it! couldnt they have just sent them away to anouther country or something? it’s so sad *tear tear*
and i dont think Fye chose himself over Real!Fye considering he used a freakin corpse to hoist himself up to try to get to him. That is some devotion
and Fye is really Yuui *head spins* o.o
but other then the mass amounts of angst, the twins are SO CUUUUUTE =3

They really were SO cruel to them… I guess it all comes down to different cultures and selfish people in power.
>couldnt they have just sent them away to anouther country or something?
I believe the King feared that they would survive, become stronger than him and come back to the kingdom to revenge. By throwing them in the tower, he was sure that they would never leave. Again, selfish people in power.
>and i dont think Fye chose himself over Real!Fye considering he used a freakin corpse to hoist himself up to try to get to him. That is some devotion
I know, but I remember some people believed that he did choose himself, claiming that we didn’t know Fye’s true nature, that he might be that selfish.

Quick question-why was Fai (Yuui!) trying to use corpses to get up the tower? I mean, was he climbing on them or something.
And you’re so right-the cruelty of Big Bad King made me think-“Oh, he is so FeiWang!”

Oh! He was using the corpses to, yes, to climb on them in order to reach Fye ^^

OMG, CLAMP has cheated us again!!! Why I’m not surprised of that anymore XDDDDD
-he’s actually making his brother to live through him
No, I think the same. He felt so bad when he saw his brother dead, that he decided to live for the sake of his brother, carrying all the sadness and sorrow.
Finally, thanks as always for your hard work!!!! ^_^

Glad you agree with me ^__^ Or maybe he took the blame for his death and that’s why he chose to use his name… because Fye was never an example of what’s like to have “will to live” xD

-Or maybe he took the blame for his death and that’s why he chose to use his name
Both options are weird XDDD but the phrase “You kill me” still strong in both cases.
However, I still have a doubt, Fay, the real one, is the one that say something before felt in front of Yuui. So, why he said “you kill me”? O.O Because Yuui want to travel no matter what but he forgot the detail of “if you want go out, one twin must die”? +___+

I think because he isn’t really there. I think that is an illusion created by Ashura-ou, hunting Fye. Because let’s face it, no living being can say “You killed me” xDDDDDDDDDDDD It doesn’t make much sense xD

To tell you the truth, this issue is the one I have the least theories for xDDDD
Because I’m not sure if he really is Ashura-ou’s creation, I think so, but I also don’t know WHY Ashura-ou would make an illusion of him. Maybe that’s Fye’s worst fear? I KNOW! He’s a boggart! XDDDDDD
LikeLike
I was thinking that this child can be the spirit-soul of Fay that can’t rest in peace like in xxxHOLiC or Tokyo Babylon situations. Also, if it is an illusion, it still be a no living being. That can explain why our fake Fay couldn’t feel the presence of his twin; maybe he lied but his surprised face doesn’t say it. He said that the castle only emanates living essences, and if this child is a spirit or an illusion it doesn’t has that kind of essence. Therefore, maybe we aren’t so wrong thinking on no living things XDDD
Now that these ideas can be supported, let’s think about why Ashura or Fei Wang did it. “Maybe that’s Fye’s worst fear?” It can be, he suffered for the death of his twin brother. It was so painful that he decided to use his brother name. Also, he thought that he can’t be happy anymore and he started to live a lying life XDDDD And when he thought that his brother rest in peace, he saw him saying “you kill me”. O.K. if it doesn’t make him insane, I don’t know what can do it XDDD
LikeLike
Yes, he would have sensed his presence. For one, with few living presences, it’s easy to sense, and for two, it’s his twin brother. He would have sensed. So I believe there were no tricks, he IS really dead.
I believe it’s an illusion created by Fye (and his guilty) himself. I think his brother would never said that to him. He wanted Fye to live as much as Fye wanted his brother to live. And I think Fei Wang cheated when he killed the other so, this is Fye’s own fear being materialized, IMO.
LikeLike
Oh! that would solve my problem with why real!Fay get so upset when he wanted to die anyway.
LikeLike
Wouldn’t it? As far as we know, he died and dead people can’t be revived in the CLAMP world (not even Yuuko can xD), so that thing is not alive.
LikeLike
In fact, maybe it is alive. The cold of the Ceres-koku might have preserve the body long enough to repair the damage of the fall. It would be too skretchy for real life, but after the xxxHolic’s girl’s body who doesn’t corrupt because she ate too much preservative, even in a blazzing heat, I wouldn’t say it impossible with Clamp. And they did emphasis it was too cold for the body to decay …

Good!!!, now we have more arguments that support that idea ^_^
-I believe it’s an illusion created by Fye
If it is like that, then Fay is very masochist XDDD
-He wanted Fye to live as much as Fye wanted his brother to live
Maybe you are right, after all, the scene in which the twins took their hands when the emperor told them that if they want to go out, one must die; it says that they really loved each other. I think that we only will know the truth when we know what happened that day when Fay died.

As to the chapter as a whole it really is very attractive to look at and, as you say, there’s something rather familiar about that ‘twins of misfortune’ storyline! It’s good that we’re finally seeing Fye’s (or should I say Yuui’s) past thatough I can’t help but feel that there are a few more surprises to be discovered!

Hi Chibi Yuuto !
– My message is mostly the same as the one I have posted on Lady DarkMoon journal today. Sorry if you read it already.
– Thank you very much Chibi Yuuto for all the TRC / xxxholicscans scans and comments 😀 I appreciate very very much 😀 Fye is not Fye ! So cool ! I had not understood before reading your comments. Now, I’ll share one of my theories about where the TRC story is going.
– Let’s remember the first 9 pages of the first volume. Sakura and Shaoran are imprisoned in a tube and separated from each other by some invisible wall. Wings suddenly emerge from Sakura, and take her away from her love.
– In chapter 123, real Shao says to his clone: “When I gave you half of my heart, I said that before the seal on your right eye dissolves and my heart separates from you, a heart that is not mine but your own might be born in you. But, if the seal should be broken and despite all the time that had passed, you were without a heart, if you continued to be only a created thing who acted wildly as if you were being controlled, I would eliminate you.”
– In Chapter 149, Sakura says: “My life will not disappear; it’s still here. Please take care of Fai-san, until we meet again.”
– Finally in chapter 152, Yuuko says: ”Only souls can enter into dreams. Moreover, until the other Shaoran arrives there’s still time.”
My interpretation:
– To enter the world of dreams, clone Syaoran must first die. He has to separate himself from his soul and/or heart. Therefore, he might develop a soul/heart before entering the tube, but that is only an hypothesis. The wings growing on Sakura’s back probably correspond to the moment when real Shaoran, Kuro, Fye, Ashura find a way to heal Sakura’s body bringing back the soul in it. Therefore, her soul leaves the dream world and the clone and goes back into her body where the real Shaoran waits for her.
– What makes me scared is that Clamp specified that only one character will not have a happy ending. I guess they are talking about a main character and not a villain. So it must be one of the Shaoran that dies. But which? My guess for now is the clone. Too bad they can not merge back together. Actually, I think I prefer it this way 😀
Cheers 😀

WOW…. NICE theory!!! I loved it! ^___^ It’s true! You could be right or at least a little right ^^ It would be so tragical, but it makes total sense. We just have to find out how the clone would develop his own heart/soul and why he would end up on the OTHER side of the tube, instead of the same side as Sakura.

Fai has Split-Personality disorder….
Yay for chibiyuuto’s comments! Your’s are always my favorite ones to read because you really talk about what’s going on and what not.
It was 7 a.m. when I first read the chapter (and I couldn’t sleep last night, so I was rather fatigued); when I first saw little Yuui climbing the tower with such a determined face, I almost thought it was little kid Syaoran! I’ve never seen a determined “Fai” face cause he always had that fake smile plastered to his face.
So, if “Fai” thought he’d bring misfortune (I’m almost sick of that word..) to his new companions, maybe that’s why he would smile all the time. Mokona noticed that “Fai” “thinks of something else” when he smiles; to me that says that “Fai” wanted them to think he was happy so they wouldn’t worry about his problems, but inside, “thinking of something else,” “Fai” is doing all he can mentally to keep himself as miserable as he can, but outside no one see’s anything wrong: just your average, blonde-hair-blue-eyes smiles all the time guy. And at least for Sakura (apparently) it seemed to convincing enough. So in a way, “Fai” was protecting them by not letting them get close, because if they got too close, “Fai” would then feel happy. If “Fai” has grown his whole life thinking that his happiness would cause misfortune on everyone else, then getting close to them would cause his happiness and thus (a+b=c) his new ‘friends’ would probably die in a misfortunate way. So then of course Fai would want to be as distant as possible MENTALLY (he won’t let anyone in), but on the outside, “Fai” did all he could to look like he was having the time of his life. So in reality, Kurogane has got it all wrong when he tells “Fai” that his past has got nothing to do with me, when it’s “Fai’s” very past that is keeping him distant from them, thus protecting all of them. Maybe he didn’t know it only works in Celes. If that’s even the right curse. FWR knows of a curse that works only in Celes, did he put this one there himself? Or is he talking about the king’s curse. And is it a curse like an “if this occurs, then this curse possesses you into killing little princess when it was supposed to be a boy” or is this a curse like a “having you around is a curse because I said so” thing?
Wow. lost my train of thought midway through, so I have no idea if this post makes sense or not… Sorry. I took sleeping pills and they kicked in.

INDEED! I noticed that too! That was totally his TRUE personality!
I agree with everything that you said about Fye, now it became clear of why he always seemed to be smiling even though we knew -something- wasn’t right. Now we know what’s that “something”. Don’t you think he is very similar to Himawari in this point? ^^

Re: Fai has Split-Personality disorder….
Actually, since I really want to answer this, I think Kurogane got it right when he told “Fay” that his past has nothing to to with him (Kurogane), to whom I always thought that he (Kurogane) was referring. His point then would be to tell Fay not to keep himself so immersed in the past that he cannot create anything in the present. Hence, the past has nothing to do with them because the truth is it doesn’t, he is protecting nothing by being distant because of his past, except for himself. Essentially, Fay has what most people in his position would have, which is that he is so caught up in his own guilt that it’s become self-centred and he doesn’t realise it, which is why Kurogane is pointing that out to him, to remind him that there are people who don’t care about what happened in the past and that the present and the future are what matters. Hope that makes some sense! =)

Ooh, i guess the ‘XD’ smiley got me kinda confused 😛 I’m sure I’ve heard/read of various twin-related stories, but the one I mentioned (mostly known for the “The Man in the Iron Mask” movie) is about the french monarchy. Louis X-something (XV, I think)’s wife gave birth to twins. The king didn’t like this AT ALL, because it would mean that eventually the brothers would fight each other over the throne. So, he decided to kill one of them. Sounds similar?
Now, the boy didn’t die because whoever took him felt sympathy for him and just took him away, until years after, his brother found out about his existence and decided to put him in an iron mask, without telling him why. But this has no relation with this TRC-twins story :D; (unless you want me to tell you the reat? :3)
I’m pretty sure I know of other twins stories, but I cannot remember right now D: Maybe we should make a collection about them 😛

> First and foremost, at the top of the splash page it’s written that some “big news” are going to be announced on the obi (belt) of volume 19 (to be released next week). I can only assume it’s about the media adaptation we’ve been hearing from months
It has to be the Tsubasa anime Ohkawa have been talking about, it’s time we get to know what it is. I hope we’ll get some word about it next week with either/both xxxholic and Tsubasa chapters.
> And then, the surprise element of the chapter, FYE IS NOT FYE! I mean, his name is not Fye! OMG, I DID NOT see that one coming o.o
I had a word with Mireime on it. Yuui’s eyes are not our Fye’s eyes, Yuui’s eyelips’ line get hidden in the eyelashes, while Fay’s eyelips’ line remind visible all over the eyelashes. You can see the difference on page 2. So, we are pretty sure our Fay is indeed up in the tower while Yuui is down bellow (plus Yuui doesn’t have the character of our Fay, his more the Sorata kind of character).

I think you’re just reading a bit too closely. They are supposed to be identical twins, in some pictures the eyelines are the same. He was just had his eyes WIDE open thats all. -_-;

But identical twins aren’t exactly the same, people that don’t know them well will say they are just the same, while people that know them well will know who’s who. I know, I’m a identical twin! (with mireime bellow) A and C aren’t exactly the same (A’s eyes and face are rounder than C’s). The point in drawing identical twins is to make them almost the same, but with a few differences, so hardcore fan will be able to tell the difference, just like real twins.
Anyway, we’ll see in the chapters to come.

Honestly, I see no difference o.o Which page exactly do you mean? The eyes have almost no difference at all, you could say that one was making a different look than the other.
Then, how would you explain that the one above the tower died?

I still hope they’ll say something in the yanmaga for those who only read xxxholic’s magazine. But more likely, they’ll just say something important will be anounced on the Tsubasa Tonkoubon’s obi. -_-
> Then, how would you explain that the one above the tower died?
Well, this is the typical case of a theory that seems to make sense at 1 o’clock a.m. when you make it, but seems less probable when you reread it on the next morning …
As I read the chapter yesterday, I thought “it’s 50/50, our Fay could be either of them”. Then, Mireime convicted me yesterday’s night our Fay his the one in the tower (yeah, it’s always onee-chan’s fault XD).
I honestly don’t know, there’s a trick to the twin up in the tower’s death anyway, so how many layer of tricks … ?
Let’s review the three scenes:
ch133: One of the twin is up in the tower and say “I wanna die. I wanna die. I wanna die. I wanna die. I wanna die. I wanna die. But before that, I want anyone to … anyone to …”
ch148: The twin bellow the tower look at his trembling hands, then the jail’s window. He look beyond despair. Feiwang says “You want to get out of this place, don’t you? This isn’t a dream, it’s an illusion. I will grant that wish, but only one of you can leave. Choose, you or the other one.” The twin look up to his brother’s window, then down to the snowy ground and said something (which we didn’t heard, just like Seishirou to Subaru twice or Ashura-Oh to Taishakuten, he definitely said something tricky). The twin up in the tower fall to the ground, the twin bellow seem surprised by the outcome. The twin bellow has bloody hands and the fallen one has clean hands, which mean they did switch place. Feiwang says “You chose and this is the result of your choice. You must suffer retribution for the life you chose to end. This is a curse. Someone who’s coming to meet you right now has appeared. You will get out of here. But one day, if someone appear before your eyes that exceed the magic power that placed you both you twins in your respective position, you will kill that person.” Ashura-Oh then appear and says “I came to meet you, because the world isn’t limited to this place here.”
ch155: Yuui try to climb up the tower while thinking of how he get there, but fall down in the end. He says “No one’s alive here. The one who’s alive is …” he look up to his brother’s cell. He’s making a pile of corpse and says “We’ll get out of here. If we get out of here, we’ll be able to use magic. They said we’ll surpass the king’s magic power when we’ll grow up. After that, we’ll go to another country. We will get out, both of us, together. Fye.” Yuui start to climp again. Fye in his cell looks sorry and says “… Yuui …” Time passed, Yuui fall again from another try, when a lot of corpse are trashed in the trench. “How comes … so many in one shot … just what happened to Valeria?”
The boy locked up in chapter 133 seems to have the same character than the one locked up in chapter 155. This is Fay, the one who want someone to take him away. But if he isn’t our Fay, I don’t get why he’s upset with the vampire, he shouldn’t mind the other one to kill him, he wished to die anyway …
The boy free of action bellow the tower in chapter 155, Yuui, seems the kind of boy who count only on himself to get out trouble (Kurogane would be proud ^_^). He should be the boy bellow in chapter 148 too, although the likely of personnality isn’t as flagrant as the boy up in the tower.
I never noticed the empty speech bubble in chapter 148 before … what can the trick be. Did Yuui ask to get out, unknowing his brother would die (hence his surprised look) and then faked the lost twin’s personality and took his name out of guilt? Did Yuui give up the choice to his brother so Feiwang switched their soul (hence why the bloody hands body is still bellow while the boy up in the tower’s personnality seems closer to the survivor’s personality)? Did Yuui and Fay switched place at some point?
Only the next chapter will tell, I’m 50/50 now.

HAHAHAHA!
>The twin bellow has bloody hands and the fallen one has clean hands, which mean they did switch place.
You mean “didn’t”… right?
I read what you wrote and here’s what I think:
I find it weird that the one below wouldn’t have chosen to set free the one above since he was tring to save him ever since they got there. He had bloody hands and he lost several of his fingernails, trying to reach his brother. Then BOTH of them hold hands when the King said they could kill each other. The one above would have done the same if Fei Wang had approached him instead. I don’t know, but I think he would never leave knowing that his brother would be still there, alone. He would prefer his brother to leave, instead.
Not to mention that, it’s logical why CLAMP hid the speech of that bubble. Whoever sees that scene would conclude that Fye chooses himself, which would be why the other one died, so it’s easy to guess what text would be written in the speech bubble. There’s no point in hiding such a predictable thing. So, I think he actually said he wanted to save the other. His shocked expression when he saw the dead body only confirms that to me. Also, if they had written “Fye” on that speech, we would know beforehand that his name isn’t “Fye” ^_~
The trick here is Fei Wang. He WANTED to cast that curse on Fye and he WOULD cast it NO MATTER WHAT. You think he would be “fair” and not cast it on him depending on his answer? I don’t think so xD
Look at his phrase: “You must suffer retribution for the life you chose to end. This is a curse.”
You could even use that to explain why he adopted the name of “Fye”. And also, you said that his personality was different, which I agree, however, don’t you think he felt guilty for what happened to his brother? Specially when Fei Wang specifically told that he CHOSE to eliminate the other’s life. Poor boy, I wouldn’t be surprised if he ended up feeling a great depression, carrying that burden for the rest of his life.
Fei Wang purposed that one of them could “leave” the tower. Maybe his definition of “leave” is different. Maybe the only way of leaving the tower would be death itself (that wouldn’t explain how Fye managed to get out later but, oh well).
>Did Yuui ask to get out, unknowing his brother would die
Yuui would say Fye as much as Fye would say Yuui, IMO. Fei Wang cheated big time, IMO.
>Did Yuui and Fay switched place at some point?
That is a possibility that would explain why Fye had visions from the real!Fye. But I don’t see how that is possible.
But the most crucial fact is, WHOEVER he was, the one above D-I-E-D. So he CANNOT be the Fye we know. So unless they changed positions at some point, the one below was ALWAYS the Fye we know. Period.
Anyway, I hope that I was able to make my point XDDDDD

Yeah, you make your point all right. ^_^
Although … although …
> Fei Wang purposed that one of them could “leave” the tower. Maybe his definition of “leave” is different.
Maybe Yuui’s choice wasn’t as straight forwards as “Fye.” or “Me.”, maybe it was more like “The one who has the better odds to rescue the other.”, “The one that will grow the strongest magic.”, “The one who is suffering the most” or something like that, something to be fair. Or worse, “My brother would not survie if we got separated.”, by which Yuui would mean he refuse the choice, but which Feiwang took for “kill my brother”.
> The trick here is Fei Wang. He WANTED to cast that curse on Fye and he WOULD cast it NO MATTER WHAT. You think he would be “fair” and not cast it on him depending on his answer? I don’t think so xD
I think he’s like Yuuko, he knew what question to ask to get the answer he needed. So it’s not really a question to be fair or not, it’s more did he needed Fye or Yuui.
But sure, the little boy who was already begging for death in his prison would likely have killed himself way before he reach the age of our vampire. So the never giving up Yuui would be more likely to give a try and live nevertheless, forcing Ahura-Oh to sleep and trying to get away from him even if he knew it was hopeless.

Well reminded! Maybe he didn’t INTEND to kill his brother, and his words were misinterpreted by Fei Wang =\

Good point, again. Since they are twins, I wonder what made Fei Wang chose Fye, specifically.

After watching over a group of 77 kids throught woods, river shore and an ancien manor firday, I had a good theory about the Fye/Yuui case! (And after two days without going on the Internet, it still sound good ^_~).
So. Let’s say the parents named the twins right after the birth. Let’s say, with servants running all around, everyone so confuse with the birth of the twins, the twins were switched at some point.
When FWR asked Fye (who thought he was Yuui) who should leave, the little boy answered what he thought to be his brother name, Fye. That’s why he was totally surprise to see his brother fall from the tower.
Isn’t this new theory explaining everything perfectly. ^_~

> xD Sweet Fye Valerian
ROFL!
> And then, the surprise element of the chapter, FYE IS NOT FYE!
Well, I must disagree. Fye is Fye and Yui is Yui. They look alike but like every twin pair in Clamp Manga, there’s always a difference. If you look at the eyes in pp. 02, 08 and 13, you can see that one of the twin have sloppier eyes.
Yui: The line above his eyelashes and his eyelash lines are merging. He is resolute, working to get out of his misery and outside the tower.
Fye: The line above his eyelashes and his eyelash lines are separate. He is passive, waiting for someone else to get him out (as he said to Kurogane in the Clover Bar of the Outo republic) and inside the tower (he remembered grabbing the bars of his cell and asking to die and there’s no bar in the bottom of the hole). This one is definitely our Fye.
So how did he manage to survive his fall. Well Clamp will give us more explanations, I guess. But looking back at chapter 148, it seems like Ashura-Oh took Yui with him. So maybe it wasn’t Fye who fell. Maybe a clone or something.
Anyway, this whole chapter point seems to lead us in the wrong way so Clamp could surprise us later. Well, we’ll see next week. Plus, I’m eager to learn more about the media. ^_^
But one thing’s sure, it a lot easier to understand the curves of the walls in chapter 148 now that we know that the structure is surround by wall. ^_~

Sou ne! I also fell in love with him at first sight. Demo, what I meant by Kurogane’s past is that I didn’t know they were going to show his past in that heavy and extensive way. So I thought “I want Fye’s now xD”
>If you look at the eyes in pp. 02, 08 and 13, you can see that one of the twin have sloppier eyes.
Page 2? You can’t possibly compare that creature with Fye xDDD Fye is a human-, sorry, a vampire xD, in his full health, while the other…
Page 8? They look the same to me o.o Only seen in different angles.
Page 13 is the most “different”, and it not even that different to me xD
Now, I agree with you about that:
He is passive, waiting for someone else to get him out (as he said to Kurogane in the Clover Bar of the Outo republic) and inside the tower (he remembered grabbing the bars of his cell and asking to die and there’s no bar in the bottom of the hole). This one is definitely our Fye.
But maybe his personality changed after that event…
One thing is fact, as far as we know, the one above DIED. The one below was FYE because Fei Wang cast the curse on HIM, which is why he did what he did to Sakura.
If the one above was really Fye, then at some moment they changed positions because the one above DIED and the one below was cursed by Fei Wang.
Me is excited for the mediatization too *-*

Changing someone personality drastically is not commun in CLAMP stories but it could still happens. But I did something wrong in the part you’re quoting. I put something Fye as said as a proof of what he get through. Even worst, it’s something he said to Kurogane while in a “You Know I’m the worst person ever” campaign. See the above article for a real-life African tribe that would kill twins. If twins were born, they believed one twin was a demon, so they killed them both. I bet Ohkawa was inspired by this.
I think the king looks like FWR too! I bet he cursed the water and crops himself, and blamed it on the twins so they would be vulnerable to his machinations. Bastard.
The influx of corpses: Ashura-ou’s doing, I bet. We know from RG Veda he’s quite capable of attaining very high body counts.

Actually, the ancient Japanese weren’t too fond of having twins either. It was seen as something unnatural or unclean, like only an animal would do.
At some point, the nobility decided there was an advantage to having two children and would adopt one away to a lesser noble family to take back in case the one that was kept died for some reason or another.

I did a quick search on google and I found some websites mentioning about that African culture. However, I thought that Ohkawa would have based his story on an European legend or something, and not African, judging how Fye has all that European appeal.

Something is not clear : in both chap133 and chap148, we see some of Fye memories. But in 133, he is clearly the one in the cell at the top of the valley, whereas in 148 he seems to be at the bottom. How could he have the memories of the two twins?…
Well, let’s wait next chapters… And don’t forget, we still don’t know what Fye’s tattoo was used for.

I ALWAYS wondered that as well…. Ever since we saw the scene where Fei Wang casts the curse on Fye, that he is at the bottom, I wondered why then he had that memory from the top of the tower.
For now, my guesses are:
1 – When the one above died, his “memories” were kept inside Fye. Pretty much like Freya and Elda from Chobits, you know? Thinking about it, that would also explain why “Fye” decided to use that name.
2 – At some point, they changed positions. The one above went below and the one below went above.
3 – The two of them are the same? Whatever one feels the other feels as well?
I don’t know .__.

THE VALERIAN KING IS THE CHIN. Or Hohenheim of Light. But. THE CHIN seems more likely. D=
The twins are made of cute, oh my God.
The 19th volume comes out on my birthday. As does the media announcement. I ask for one thing and one thing only: MADHOUSE. Please.
And I still think that Real!Fay is a girl. Because. Uh. Female spelling?

Really? What do you mean by female spelling? That would be interesting, though. It would end the theories that Fye didn’t lie about his name ^^

One of the reasons people here in the States didn’t like the ‘Fay’ spelling, even though it’s the official spelling, is because it’s a girl’s name. So, in my mind, it now makes sense why it had to be spelled that way. The other twin was a girl. =D Or at least I think so, anyway.

Valeria? Great disaster? Umm, Song of Ice and Fire, much? (Though it’s Valyria, but still). I wonder if there is a connection…
