CLAMP NEWS !!

This time there are quite a lot news ! ^__^


– Next chapters scheduled (red means new):

12/09 – Newtype #01 – Chapter 3 – 1 color page. (on sale)
01/10 – Newtype #02 – Chapter 4.
02/10 – Newtype #03 – Chapter 5.

Kobato.’s pacing is slow, but at least it’s publication is quite steady ^^

– Next chapters scheduled (red means new):

12/13 – Shonen Magazine #2 & #3 – No Tsubasa scheduled
12/27 – Shonen Magazine #4 & #5 – Chapter 138.
01/10 – Shonen Magazine #6 – Chapter 139.

• Book:

The Kodansha list of scheduled books for February has been announced and, again, Tsubasa (and XXXHOLiC) are not there, which means vol. 18 will most likely be released only on March.

• DVD:

An old news, that I completely forgot to post, but ozaka_tomoe-san reminded me, is that CLAMP will draw the Box illustration that will hold all 7 DVDs of the anime. The only thing worth having a Tsubasa anime is that CLAMP did nice illustrations for the Boxes

It’ll come as a privilege for those buying the last DVD, out on February.

Oh my… almost an entire month with no XXXHOLiC.

• Mainichi School Children’s Newspaper (毎日小学生新聞):

An article and CLAMP interview will be published on the December 20th issue of the Mainichi Newspaper, inside their educational section. They have a website, but I’m not sure if CLAMP’s article will be available on it as well.

• CLAMP Short Comic in Modern Mahjong:

Yes, they did it ! XD A short comic drawn by CLAMP will be published on the February 1st issue of Modern Mahjong, a weekly magazine of Takeshobo publisher, out on December 28th.

This is the magazine where Akagi, the mahjong manga that all CLAMP members are a fan of, is being published. I don’t know much about the magazine, but judging by it’s name, it must contain a lot of series about Mahjong, so expect the short comic to be something about that too. And I wouldn’t be surprised if the character of Akagi were on it.

Before the first chapter of Kobato (Temporary) was published in Sunday GX, they also drew a short comic for the magazine. So I wonder if this means CLAMP will draw a series for this magazine in the future? I hope so ^^

Either way, CLAMP must be very happy to draw something for the same magazine of Akagi ^^

• CLAMP Mokona no Okimonokimono:

The cover of the book has finally been announced !

I confess I did not expect the cover to be about Kobato., but yey, it’s so pretty ! XD Apart from the cover, CLAMP will also draw a comic and write an essay for the book.

According to the publisher, the book will be released on February 14th.

• CLAMP in 3-D LAND:

The 2nd series’ figurines have been announced !

Left to right: Syaoran (TRC), Freya (Chobits), Yasha (RG Veda), Rikuou (Gouhou Drug) and Misaki & Hikaru (Angelic Layer).

It took me a while to figure out that was Rikuou xD And I didn’t expect Hikaru to be bigger than Misaki (I thought Hikaru would be on Misaki’s shoulder of something).

This time my favorite was Syaoran and Rikuou xD

The same rules of the 1st series applies for the 2nd. There will be a box too (can’t wait to see the illustration !), and you can also buy them individually.

The 2nd series will be released on February.

  3. woo, pretty new graphics! yay rich text! thanks again for posting this info, i can never make sense of it anywhere else. all i can say is that holic and tsubasa both better publish the last two weeks of january, when i will be in japan to buy the magazines hot off the presses myself. and i think we’ll all be old before kobato finishes at this rate.

    so, no xxxholic for early-january? too bad, i was hoping for something to distract me from my painful studies…(having exams in jan :P)

    and…CLAMP Short Comic in Modern Mahjong? wow that sounds neat, but i don’t know anything about mahjong…
    i mean, there’s cantonese mahjong but i didn’t really have the urge to learn how to play that~ 😛 (cantonese mahjong must be somehow different from the japanese one anyway)
    hopefully the short comic won’t be too hard to understand~

    and the 2nd series of CLAMP in 3-D LAND, i only know Syaoran and Rikuou, that’s 2 out of 5~=.=
    (i suppose i know Yasha from that TRC arc, but that doesn’t really count isn’t it :P)

    anyway, i’m glad that he appears, there has been long since i last seen him 😛

    It took me a while to figure out that was Rikuou
    yeah, if you didn’t point out that it’s him I wouldn’t know myself XD

    • Indeed the breaks are painful, but I was saying to evercool-san, it’s all because of the end of the year. It’s probably a consequence of the mangakas’ vacations and such.

      I’m very looking forward to see the illustration. Differently from the 1st one, I think this one will be a bit darker. Because with the exception of TRC!Syaoran and Misaki & Hikaru, all the other characters are quite “moody”: Yasha, Rikuou and Freya. I mean, they don’t “smile” very much xDDDD

        yeah, I know. The ladies are doing three mangas simultaneously, and engaging in many minor projects, they deserve their rest! *is trying hard to be a considerate fangirl*

        Yasha, Rikuou and Freya. I mean, they don’t “smile” very much
        but Rikuou does smile! no, scratch that, he smirks (very sexily) XD

        I think this one will be a bit darker
        I second that. Those guys definitely don’t run around, ‘doing Fay’.
        but anyway, dark or light, right now I’ll happily settle for any kind of new art including Yasha and Rikuo (too bad that without Kazahaya *sigh*)

        • The fact is that in those weekly/monthly manga magazines, each week a mangaka takes a rest and there’s no chapter from that series… I suppose the authors chan choose how they will plan the breaks and then do so… maybe CLAMP like to take long periods of time 😛

    Perhaps it’ll turn out that CLAMP are completing X there, and Kamui’s true wish was to play a heart-stopping game of Strip Mahjong against Fuuma for THE FATE OF THE EARTH!XD [with Subaru as the referee, of course^^]

    at the same general point so they end at the same time since TRC will doubtlessly take longer than HOLiC. 😡

    I don’t think I was expecting Kobato-chan on the Kimono book cover either. O.O
    Cute though. ^.^

    But what’s really, really cute is the new CLAMP in 3-D Land figures, especially Rikuou. 😀
    I might have to relent and get the Gouhou Drug boys at the very least… >.>

      Bingo ! That’s definitely a possibility. And maybe they are planning to link both works again soon.

  14. Omiting the “OMG” face I put when I discovered there are Mahong manga (if there’s Hikaru no go, why not? ^^U) and CLAMP are fans of them, I must say CLAMP in 3D land 2 are highly adorable! I kinda like the caracters best than the ones of the first series! Want Freya, Yasha and Hikaru/Misaki :3

  16. Yo, Chibi-Yuuto! Genki desu ka? Lately the pre-chapters of Kobato are getting better now especially from last week’s with the Christmas concept. Awh, Ioryogi looked hontou kawaii with the Christmas hat! ^o^

    For Tsubasa, how cruel that the week after Christmas it will have to wait for the 10th of January for the next one. ;__; *sobs* But I understand that HOLiC needs to catch up for a possible ending at the same time. And it is double cruel that there is no HOLiC for the half of the month!! ;___;

    Sugoi ne! I like the cover for Mokona’s kimono collection book and I like Kobato looking pretty in that kimono with Ioryogi. Kirei desu wa! ^__^

    Finally as for the 2nd CLAMP 3-D series figurine set, out of the five of them I like Syaoran and Rikuou the most! Wow, Syaoran looks incredible with the clothes from the 7th cover book! Anyway, the figurines are hontou kawaii desu wa!! ^o^

          I am dying to know that too ! But unfortunately I don’t have this information. However, I think it should be Mokona the main artist. In fact, I think it might even be about Kobato.

    Holic and Tsubasa are rather radom these weeks … o.O
    To be fair, it’s no worse than usual, it’s the two double number in a row that make it look worst. So, we’ll get the 18th book for March … it was to be expected as the book wasn’t completed by the end of december, but it’s still disapointing. At least we have Kobato, she’s even on the okimono okimono book, she’s doing her very best not to disapoint us. ^_^

    Talking of Kobato, I’m beginning to wonder if Kadokawa won’t publish “Kabato (temporary)” as the second tankoubon of “Kobato｡”. We see the characters of (temporary) around, but Kobato never meets them and at the current rythem, she won’t get her bottle before the end of the first book.

    Clamp will be in a mahjong manga magazine! They are really into it! rofl
    I think it will be a “column manga”, there isn’t any title for the short comic itself, but it sure look like how Kobato started.

    We had the picture of the Clamp in 3Dland figures! ^_^
    Tsubasa!Syaoran sure look weird with that outfit, isn’t it the one he wear on the 7th standard tankoubon? Maybe it is to distinguish him for CCS!Syaoran. That staff again, will we ever going to see it in the actual story? And Hikaru is so big! I suppose they wanted to make it a bit deferent from the Clamp no Kiseki’s chess piece.

      You think so? That’s exactly the opposite of what I think. I think she’ll get the bottle still at volume 1 (or zero, if you prefer xD), and volume 2 (or 1, if you prefer xD) will start where the (Temporary) series started.

        I expressed myslef poorly, I meant she will get the bottle for the last chapter of volume 0 (or 1) but not before that, like not in the middle of the tank. So we pretty much agree here. ^^;

        Well, the writer of Hikaru no Go, Hotta, hired a professinal go player to help her with the complicated go game in her manga (Hotta isn’t that good at go herself), Clamp could do the same. They also might do a manga based on the Mahjong themes without going on with actual games.

        I must admit when Syaoran have that staff, Sakura usually have her tube clothing (the ones she is wearing in the “flash fowards” scene at the begining of book 1), so it might be something TRC!Syaoran will get once he get his sense back (as I suppose he’ll do, there supposed to be a happy end to this series).

      It’s a visual book featuring the Kimonos designed by Mokona herself ^^ You know she loves to design and produce her own kimonos, right? So now she’ll catalog then all in a nice and neat book ^^

  28. I just arrive from vacations, and i found… omg!!! syaoran!!! so cute!!! thank you very much!! Is the best!! well… at least for me. i wish some day i could buy it. he looks cool with that clothes, though a bit strange (well, for me, with ANY clothes would look great) and i hope the staff will be shown in the future, and will be of some use. Why they choose that clothes and not the cape and the clow-country outfit?.. hum, and why the long time without holic now? they are killing us little by little.

    So… the kimono book is ging to have kimonos drawn? I´m judging by the cover but I thought it would be a different book, with pictures of actual models…
    Yey for the figurines!, Rikuo looks a lot like TRC´s Seishirou if you ask me XDDDD Yasha is my absolutely favourite by faaaaar! XD Well, spmly because there isn´t other figures from RGveda (apart from the Cnk one)… same goes with X …. Those 2 series really deserv more merchandise u.u
    Anyways! thank you so much for the news! I hope we can see bigger pics in the near future (specially seishirou´s figurine… XD)

  32. Heh, didn’t CLAMP once say they’d like to try Mah-jongg manga since it was something they hadn’t done before? Maybe they’re thinking of fulfilling that ambition.

    I want a Yasha figurine! Chibi!Yasha amuses me so. And my Ashura chess piece wants company. I can’t wait to see the box picture.

  33. the figures look good and make me wish desperatly that there was a smaller gap between set releases (i wonder who will be in no 3?) Joining the general grumble about the giant gap for xxxHOLIC and Tsubasa but I’m hoping that Clamp will fill the silence with an announment of some sort or another!

  34. I want that book so badly. The illustration is so cuuuute. Is the book about Kimono’s and/or kimono design? Anyway its so cute. And the figurines too. I didn’t get it was Rikuou at first either. My fav is Yasha:D So cute!
