Nyaw, Kobato is back ^_______^ I missed it so much ! The Great ladydarkmoon sign once again the scanning of one more series and yes, you can also find clean scans at The Room of Requirement !
With the advent of Kobato., the site went through some changes. The first of them is the new URL. I could no longer call it “/tsubasa-holic” since now there’s Kobato. as well. I could simply add “-kobato” to the URL, but that site will host every other new CLAMP series that might appear (that if I could get the approval of the scanner, of course) and I would have to keep changing the URL every time a new series starts or ends.
So, in order to change it for once and for all, I renamed it to “/ror”. It stands for RoR, which stands for Room of Requirement (I thought “/theroomofrequirement” was too big and easily misspelled xDD). Please update your bookmarks ! ^^ If you happen to access from one of the old addresses, you’ll be redirected to the new one.
Another change is the layout. I did a new layout, kinda simpler and more direct, now you get all 3 series on the same page, as well as all the information. Hope you like it ^^
Now for Kobato. itself !!
God, how I missed Kobato ! *-* The good feeling is back again, I love reading it so much ! As expected, they did the series all over again, which is completely understandable since they would lose a lot of readership by starting with the 8th chapter of a series that doesn’t even have a tankohon. Besides, they would have to re-draw the pages anyway to fit on Newtype’s measures.
Ah, the monthly magazines…. they are the editor’s best friend xDDDD I specially liked Newtype’s printing, it’s so smooth and there’s no white dots ! *-* The edited thing looks like from the tank itself !
So, let’s start with the lovely splash page. So lovely >.< They did a new version of the first chapter's spread of the old publication, only this is the winter version ^__^
Now the chapter titles. They should now call "Exam"s, refering to the tests Kobato has to pass in order to grant her wish. Ohkawa said on Kiseki's interview that, at first, they wanted to make each chapter as a completed story, I wonder if that's how it's gonna be now? O.o I don't think so, though.
I was really disappointed and sad with the only 14 pages of story, which is actually 12 since 2 are from the colored spread. I know Kobato never was a series of much pages but, this is really, really thin. I wonder if that's a Newtype or CLAMP's decision.
But anyway, even if it's few, let's comment ! XD
I thought this chapter was more like a "0" chapter than anything. It's very introdutory and yet quick. There are the basic plot information like the character's names, what they are doing there, their missions, etc. One difference here is that Kobato still doesn't have her bottle, she has to pass on a test in order to get it. I wonder if things will get more like the old publication after she gets the bottle (i.e. moving to Chitose's apartment and stuff).
Kobato is so stupidly lovely XD I love the team she does with Ioryogi, and he gave us more hints that she's not really human since he said she would only get the bottle if she could behave like a normal human being O.o
The guy who came out of the building thought Kobato lived in there (even though she doesn't… yet). I really hope she will NOT live there because it doesn't look like Chitose's apartment complex .___. Unless Chitose turns outs to be the landlady just the same, then it's fine xDDDD
She got zero for her first test, poor thing XDDDD I hope by the next chapter she'll get the bottle for real. I also hope the future chapters will be bigger and that all the characters we saw in the old publication will be back again.
I have to say that this was a very weird first chapter, specially for a series like Kobato. I mean, the whole garbage and crows, right at the first chapter? XD I guess that's the beauty of the series. But it was so quick. It really looked like an one-shot of those tentative series. Or like those TRC omakes, you know?
Alison also scanned the advertising for CLAMP Newtype PASTEL, where we can see the cover illustration ! ^___^ Again, so lovely ! I love Kobato's illustrations so much (they are so happy !), one could say they are very much like CCS's ones, but you're NEVER gonna find a monster such as Ioryogi in any of the CCS illustrations XDDD THAT'S the difference between them ^___^ (I am here showing CLAMP's versatility, that what they do is never completely the same).
Ah, iamsocool12345 already sent me the script and very soon the scanlations will be up at CLAMP No Lumiere ^^

It’s so nice to hear that Kobato has returned (and the new colour illustration is lovely). ^_^ The first chapter was a little misleading (since I thought it would be essentially the same with changes in detail), but I guess CLAMP is moving the story’s beginning up to an earlier point.
I also hope the future chapters will be bigger and that all the characters we saw in the old publication will be back again.

I need to go back and reread the old chapters again sometime, but this series is very cute. I do hope the old characters show up as well, no Fujimoto would be very sad indeed.

ROR sorry LOL! new section on your website and is Kobato cleaned scans ^_^ That’s really comfortable to now. New layout and everything, I admit it, now is simple and easy to obtain the scans of the three series. But in spite of this, I will miss the old layouts.

I must be one of the few people who like the new beginning better. Then again, this chapter was cracktacular, with gag after gag, and I lol’ed over the part with the crows.

It’s slowing growing on me… specially after I edited it for CnL. I just thought it was weird (usually the first chapters are so promissing and everything XD, I think the fact that we already knew the story beforehand kinda of blew it)

It’s totally diferent from the first version of chap01….I expected them to restart Kobato from the beginning but I was kinda surprised to see that they actually also made big changes…Let’s wait and see what they’re gonna do next 🙂

I think they redid it because it would be a bit lame for those who followed the original series (like us), to see the exact same thing all over again. Besides, THEY would have to redraw the same frames and the same stuff, and that may be quite boring XDDD

Yo, Chibi-Yuuto! That is a very suteki na layout featuring the 3 sections of the manga series. Wai!!! Kobato is back and how much I missed my Ioryogi!! We all know that Kobato is quite the airhead on being overconfident, but that’s the aspect that we like about her.

I think we’re gonna have to wait a bit more until we see the “real” continuation, unless CLAMP manages to tell the SAME story in a different and yet interesting way ^^ I do think Fujimoto and the others will be just the same. I can’t wait to see Chitose, Sayaka and the Debt Colector again ^_^

Wow! It’s started from 0 afterall. I wanted to know what would have happened in the other story U.U I hope they continue it (at least in a different way).
But I can’t say that reading Kobato the way it is now wouldn’t make me happy ^^ It’s the same Kobato-san in the end ^____^
Indeed, Kobato has it’s similarities with CCS (the happiness, the way the story seems to be developing ^^ and even the characters… Kero-chan and Iryogi-chan 😛 in a way both helping their “owner”).
I’m waiting for the translation ^^
The chapter was pretty short but funny at the end xD Poor Koba-chan…. she is crazy! Who would even have a thought of opening a garbage bag with all those crows around? xD She is my hero xDDDDD

My fear is that maybe it’s because Newtype it’s such a OVERLOADED magazine, full of many different articles, that they might think is a “waste” to use 30+ pages of manga (well, not “waste”, more like they don’t have room for it). I just hope I’m wrong ^^
