Many News!!

Starting to CLAMP Su event, which is now having it’s last days:

Let’s Draw CLAMP’s work!

On March 27th, there will be a kind of “Fanart Contest”. The fans will be able to draw any CLAMP character and then be judged by CLAMP members ^__^ They will choose a winner and it seems that others 20 people will receive goodies as a gift.

Museum Of New Day:

Japanese channel NHK will air a special program about CLAMP Su exposition. The show will be aired next Sunday (March 27th), airtime 8:01 ~ 9:01.

Illustration Work:

CLAMP will be announcing their new “Illustration work” named “Human Emotions” on April 9th at the exposition. Now, I don’t really know WHAT this “Illustration work” is all about. I don’t think it’s a new work/manga, but it’s sure something I’m looking forward to know about it.

Kobato on CLAMP No Kiseki?

Well, yes, you read it right. We all know very well that Kobato is not scheduled to feature in any of the CLAMP No Kiseki Magazines. It happens that on edition #6, there was a page containing the next scheduled magazines, and Kobato was there, on magazine #12, the one which was originally scheduled to feature Tsubasa, only.

Thanks to Mew-chan (thank you very much), we can see a scan of the page where it clearly says that Kobato will be indeed on volume 12.

I’m just really curious about Kobato’s content… because by August (the month the magazine will be released) Kobato will have a max of 8 chapters. We’ll see o.o

Two Years Without X:

Today is the exact day when the last chapter of X was out. Two years ago we were all O.O with that fucking last page.

I found a transcript to that X talk show held on CLAMP Su, but I won’t post here, unfortunately, because it’s in japanese, only.

Demo, there was one thing I felt forced to translate, it was said at the very end of the Talk show:

“As lately X is been on hold, people are starting to be worried about it, but as we are working really hard on our other works, please support us.” – Igarashi
“We are going to write X until the end, so please, just wait a bit more.” – Ohkawa

“Just wait a bit more”, “Just wait a bit more”… after two whole years of silent… we finally got SOMETHING! ^________^ We all already knew about it… but hearing it from themselves are much better… and now we only have to wait a bit more! Waaah I’m so happy *faints*

EDITED: As requested by usomitai, I’ll post the original transcript on japanese here. Credits go to this site ^__^

X2(ダブルエックス)という作品を作ったのがはじめ。

  1. HOORAY for the X news! A bit more better not be more than a year though, hopefully.

And I’m kind of disappointed that Volume 12 isn’t just going to be Tsubasa as I think it deserves its own issue.

Thank you for the news! (Especially because I can’t read Japanese!)

    • No I guess it won’t! I really hope that with the anime coming Tsubasa comes to an end ^^

      >And I’m kind of disappointed that Volume 12 isn’t just going to be Tsubasa as I think it deserves its own issue

You think so? Well, maybe… but I guess that are more complex works that required a lot more research, like RG Veda, that it’d be great to have 2 issues.

      And you are welcome ^__^

  2. I always knew my grandson or grandaughter will someday buy the last X volume and read it to a very-aged myself xDDD As we say here in Spain, “menos da una piedra” (which in this case means it’s better having little information than none at all) 😛

  3. OMG was just today, I had this days on my mind but didn’t know so exactly which day it was (I usually got X summaries around 28/29 XDD) and they said _something_ today!!! They are going to write X until the end and wait a bit more SOMETHING!! THERE IS HOOOPE!

    • I was like that when I first read it… I was hugging everything in front of me and everybody who passed by me ^__^

I always thought that the hope would never gone… I always had hope. But now it has been increased !! ^__^ *hugs*

But just to clarify here… CLAMP didn’t say it TODAY… they said that on X Talk show, that happened a few days ago. I happened to find it yesterday ^^

  4. Yeah for X!! I have this theory that they don’t want to finish it cause they don’t want to kill Sorata. : ) I have this hope that maybe they won’t kill him. Cause the prophesy says “but IF you die, it will be for a women” I’m holding on to that if with everything I got!

Also, does anyone know if Clamp plans to end X like the anime or do they have something differentin mind, or do we have no idea what they are thinking? I havn’t read all of the X manga, but I do know that it differs greatly from the anime especially as it reaches the end.

    • I believe the manga is going to end differently from both the movie and the TV series… It goes along with the theme “the future has yet to be decided…”

Some stuff has already gone differently, like Subie taking Sei’s eye and all…

      Like

    • I remembering hearing oh-so-long ago after the tv series ended that Clamp said they weren’t going to end the manga like either the movie or tv anime. =)

I don’t remember much of what happened in the movie and never saw the end of the tv series, but did Kamui ever manage to create a kekkai?

      Like

      • I forget the end of the movie- except that I know everyone dies but Fuuma- but at the end of the anime- kamui gets stabbed by Fuuma and then he creates a giant sphere kekkai that incumpases the whole world- then dies. (My friend say “he doesn’t die- he is absorbed into . . .yeah”)

I just remembered that he also makes a sphere kekkai in the movie and dies. Yay for kamui dying!

        Like

      • Yeah, it’s 100% sure that the manga will have a different end. ^__^

Because the original end IS the one from the manga… ^^ the one who was written by Ohkawa even before the beginning of the series. The movie and anime’s ends are only new and different version of it. ^__^

It’s not like “Now Ohkawa has to make a different end” because it is already done. The right thing to think is “Now the producers of the movie/anime will have to come up with a different end”

Hope you got it right ^__^

        • It’s not like “Now Ohkawa has to make a different end” because it is already done. The right thing to think is “Now the producers of the movie/anime will have to come up with a different end”

Oh, most definitely. =) CLAMP pretty much seems to know the end they’re working toward for all their series (yay for random foreshadowing that doesn’t make sense until you read further! ^_^) from the start. Tsubasa doesn’t seem to be unlike that, either. ^___^

          Like

          • Sure ^__^ Every good author knows the end of their stories… so that they can’t lose track of what they are doing…

I read this interview with CLAMP where they asked:

“Was X planned in advance since the beginning??”

            Genius Ohkawa said:

“Yes. I could not have finished otherwise.”

Surely Tsubasa has the same planning ^_^

            Like

      • >I don’t remember much of what happened in the movie and never saw the end of the tv series, but did Kamui ever manage to create a kekkai?

Yeah, from both ends he creates a kekkai ^__^

        Like

          • Yeah, Kamui’s kekkai is a sphere like…

Only that in the movie, he created the kekkai BEFORE the final battle (in the movie he could creat a kekkai right away, there wasn’t anything like “I can’t make a kekkai T-T”

            **SPOILERS TV Series**

In the anime, he needed to realize that it doesn’t matter if he dies… because he will remain in Fuuma’s heart forever… and that’s what matters. That made him create a kekkai that restaured the ruined Tokyo ^__^
            Hope that helps.

  5. Eh, the “wait a bit more” is too vague for me to hope. But am glad that they’ve at least ACKNOWLEDGED that X has been left hanging.

Couldn’t you post the transcript for the Japanese-speakers like moi? 😀

          • Nothing formal (ie, didn’t look much up XD;;), very sloppy, etc, yah? 😀 [] marks me speaking

At the interview are our four clamp ladies and the director Rintarou (I’m assuming he directed the X movie since they refer to it so often in the interview). On the Movie:

            — Rintarou’s first contact with X was making the X^2 video– up to volumes 3-4 had come out, and he had already read Tokyo Babylon.

            — Rintarou thinks that X has Takarazuka-esque violence. XXXD (Takarazuka = all-female actress troupe, infamous for, uh, singing about Dreams and Inspiration and Love while wearing glitter-covered sequined gold costumes.) Ohkawa rebutes with that they didn’t make it to be pretty, they’re following shoujo manga conventions. “Do you say it’s Takarazuka-ish because of the big eyes? We’re often asked what kind of contacts would be made if we made any.” (…I don’t get that phrase, either. Contacts for what?)

Mokona follows up that it’s a convention to have sparkling [eyes].

            — Ohkawa points out that in the movie there’s 14 characters for 90 minutes, making each character get about 7 minutes. “Muri,” she says. XD

            — Rintarou comments [referring to the X movie] that while we’d like the characters to live, they have no choice but to die. (This next part I didn’t understand well ^^;;) He thinks that this displays Clamp’s feelings/sense of beauty– they want to draw the characters in depth, but since they can’t, they wanted to give each character as cool a death in as good a place as possible. XO

            — Ohkawa mentions that because Kakyou hadn’t been introduced yet, they worried a lot over whether or not to put him into the movie. As for Seishirou and Subaru, while they had pressure from the fans to put them in there, they couldn’t put in all their past, so they accepted the director’s suggestion that they die at the very beginning.

            — Rintarou: Ohkawa didn’t write the script in one go, she’d give in 10-20 pages at a time, “what do you think?” and fixed it as she went along. Though the point was for me to help her fix it, she’d throw a fork at me if I tried. [that last phrase may be mistranslated XD;;]

            — Ohkawa: It’s better if the [original] author doesn’t write the script. I was told that they’d know who I was, nothing more, nothing less. But they kept telling me to write a little more, write a little more, until I ended up having written the whole thing. I worried especially over the Fuuma and Kamui fight. I was asked if these two people, with the same strength/abilities, would fight for more than 100 years or if they’d finish it in a moment. Though I ended up writing it ending in a moment, it was Rin-director who made it so in the movie. They kept ‘okay’-ing my decisions. If I were to write it now I’d pay more attention to the age limit. It came out as a movie that children could see, and I was worried if they would cry. Actually, children start crying as soon as the movie starts.
When X-Japan’s song started playing at the end, I understood. Yoshiki-san had read the manga and wrote the song for us.

            — Mokona: Because the X manga uses a lot of dream scenes, I was interested to see what kind of movie it’d become. When I actually saw it, I thought, I see, yeah, that’s great, of course.

            — Igarashi: When it was done we watched it alone, the four of us. We got really excited at the great images and the wonderful movie.

            On the Manga and Anime:

            — Ohkawa: That sakura is so prevalent in our works is because of Mad-san (Mad House?). We’re trying to rise to such talent.

            — Mokona: The cape [Kamui’s?] is so pretty I have to let it flutter.

            — Rintarou: We couldn’t care less about the story in the anime, so long as the cape flutters prettily. *laughs*

            — Ohkawa: He’s kidding. Don’t think we don’t care about the story. It’s what matters most to us.

            On Analogue and Digital:

            — Rintarou: The Kekkais aren’t done with CG. We filmed it with a LOT of trouble.

            — Rintarou: Mad-san’s photography techniques are amazing. Multi? [the rest is too hard for me to get. He goes on about Mad-san’s mad skills, how digital is just one tool people tend to use when in a rush, blablabla.]

            • interview, part 2!

              Questions For Rintarou:

              — Mokona: [I’m not getting this question. -_- She’s either asking if he always has such colorful yet blank scenes, or if he always leaves his scenes so colorless. It would help if I knew what econte is.]
Rintarou answers: I was told to tell everything just through the econte (images?), and to avoid everything else. So that’s how I do it.

              — Nekoi: How long does it take to drawn one? [one what?]
Rintarou answers: Depending on the work, it takes about 4-5 months.

              — Nekoi: Is that slow compared to others?
              Rintarou answers: I don’t think it’s fast.

              — Nekoi: What do like about the X movie?
Rintarou answers: Personally, “Karen-san is cool!” or “Arashii is cool!” *laughs* Honestly I couldn’t care about the men. Though I think Sorata is a fun character.

              — Igarashi: Any fashion points for today?
Rintarou answers: [Some kind of] jeans.

              — Ohkawa: You’re always so careful about your fashion I was surprised when you said, “at the stage openning [? for the x movie?] let’s throw our coats~!”

              Last Words to the Fans:

              — Igarashi: We know you are worried that X is on hold, but because we are trying hard on other projects, please support us.

              — Ohkawa: We’ll definitely carry X on to the end, so please wait a bit longer.

              — Nekoi: Rin-director’s works are all fabulous, so you should go running to check out his videos.

              — Mokona: If you watch the X movie today it doesn’t feel aged at all. I personally think you can’t find such high quality anime these days, so you should see the dvd.

              — Rintarou: If X goes to the very end, I’d like to do another 5 volumes [of what? novel, manga, movies?]

              >(…I don’t get that phrase, either. Contacts for what?)

I think she meant “Eye contact” XD

              >she’d throw a fork at me if I tried

AHAHAHAHAHAAHAHA I so want to believe he really said that XDDDDDDDDDD

              >Ohkawa: It’s better if the [original] author doesn’t write the script.

Oh no, you are so wrong Ohkawa >.If I were to write it now I’d pay more attention to the age limit.

I hope she meant “To put a higher age limit on the movie” and I hope she NOT meant to turn X in a child-ish movie with no blood at all…

              >Ohkawa: He’s kidding. Don’t think we don’t care about the story. It’s what matters most to us.

That’s why we love you all! ^__^

              >Rintarou: If X goes to the very end, I’d like to do another 5 volumes [of what? novel, manga, movies?]

I think he means, make 5 new volumes of a new X movie. ^^

              Like

              • You’re welcome. 😀 It was kinda fun.

Dunno if eye contacts makes sense either… :/

                Age limit: I know! It’s weird! Why would you want to lower the violence/scariness if the series is GEARED for precisely that? o_O;;

5 volumes for a movie is excessive, no? *_* He used the ‘hon’ counter, for long objects, and I don’t know if that applies to movies but it certainly sounds weird.
