Quite a nice and revealing chapter, like pretty much all recent Tsubasa chapters. I like the splash page a lot, too!
So the price is been paid already by Watanuki? Oh my, what a revelation! Indeed the guys had nothing to give xD But, but, if he paid in advance, then does that mean Watanuki knew at some point about everything that would happen with Syaoran, Sakura et al.? Wow… if so, who told him? Things are starting to make a bit sense about Watanuki’s nature.
Syaoran’s wish? What is it? Have you seen how they look at each other, Yuuko and Syaoran? (It got a full page!) And Watanuki wishes for it, too…
Fei Wang being at Clow country wasn’t a surprise, as a lot of people have deduced that. Indeed I thought he was hidden in some sort of disconnected, unreached place where no one else lived, but I didn’t think it could be a “cut off” time of Clow country… I wonder how that works, he lives in a paralyzed time of Clow? Which time, the future or the past?

Disappeared?… that complicates things a bit… they have to rescue this body at any cost!
So we had 2 bodies and 2 souls at some point. 1 body disappeared and the other is now in Fei Wang’s hands, 1 soul died and the other is trapped inside a tube.
Hum, can we have the original’s soul go to the replica’s body? That would still be only one Sakura for two Syaorans. Unless of course the clone dies. Or, unless the “disappeared” body appears again.
Okay Fei Wang, now you have all the necessary tools to work on your plans, will you please start moving your ass and do it already? xD
Waiting for “that time”, huh, Fuuma? You too know about everything? ‘Course you do… I just hope “that time” is 2008.
And Seishirou just left, too? God, I could bet all my money that the twins would appear here in Nihon… Well, I would have lost all my money xD I guess Ohkawa just needed a good reason to start a fight between the Syaorans, and she thought Seishirou’s feather was a good reason. He doesn’t have it anymore and thus he’s a lot weaker… will be looking forward to the conclusion of their story.
Kendappa, are you Kakyou or what? XD All these talks about wishes bringing both happiness and unhappiness and yet people keep wishing? I think I saw X #18 under your tatame, don’t try to hide…
I think they’ll stay in Nihon until this tankoubon ends, then begins tank 24 with a new world.

But in that case another problem would rise: 2 bodies and only one soul. But each Sakura is in love with Syaoran-clone… Poor original. Luckily there is Watanuki who cares of him! (er.. He “cared… ). >__<

Yeah, you’re right about that, but it would be so weird for the real Sakura to return to a body that is not hers in the first place. I mean, it has a hole in its belly and its leg no longer moves ^^;;;

Yeah, that body had several “little” problems!!! ^_^;;; Not very pleasant find herself in this kind of situation, also because she probably can see what her clone was doing, instead of real-Shaoran… Poor girl!

My head is just spinning with clones…
My odds are on Syaoran and Watanuki being twins with some kind of disconnected time warp that makes Watanuki older. CLAMP has been known to like twins very much-for a while now in Holic Syaoran has been acting very Freya to Watanuki’s Elda, but with more of an urgency.
I also think that Watanuki was either a very powerful seer (and ability he forgot about) or some kind of psychic link to Syaoran’s powers.
I love you so much, CLAMP.

I recently reread all the chapters because I recovered my old computer and wanted to save it all on my hard disk. it’s so much more fun when you read all the chapters together rather than one chapter every week or so ;___;
Somehow I imagine Fei Wang living under neath the ruins, in some cave, and only goes out to get food and water – or he sends someone else to – or he conjures it up or something. I just imagine him as a silly hermit or something down there xD Lololol or there’s a secret passage way in the Castle behind a bookcase that leads to this gigantic place where Fei Wang stays. Sorry for my crazy delusional theories – I think I’m a bit slap happy. Please don’t take me seriously xD

My response to it this morning: HOMG THAT MAKES SO MUCH SENSE! Hmm, and I think I have to re-read xxxHolic to figure out around when Watanuki gives away his memories (I suspect the Dream Arc). And wow, did not see the Fei Wang Reed in Clow Country thing coming, but I remember that the translators had a bit of trouble with something like that a few chapters back so that all makes sense now.
Poor Watnuki though, he doesn’t even remember that he gave up his memories, I can’t help but think that he is going to talk to the R!Sakura in that tube thing or that Kohane-chan is going to be involved. Yup, those are my ideas and I’m sticking to them!

Somehow I think that Watanuki gave away the price even before he met Yuuko in chapter 1. I mean, the fact that he sees ghosts, I think there’s something to do with it. But if we think like that, then he must have paid the price when he was still a kid, since he already saw those by then.
Well, I really don’t know, but out of everything that we saw so far in the manga, I can’t relate a particular scene to that wish.

I actually find it most freaky (in a good like “I’m completely shocked” sort of way) that Watanuki was the one who paid the price for Syaoran, Kurogane, and Fai. It’s almost like Syaoran knew that he would owe Watanuki big, but the look on his face says “I still didn’t pay enough to save his life back then…” And here we all thought that Syaoran paid an incredible price that took forever to achieve…

It’s those ruins, there’s something up with them… after all why did Clow keep looking at them in all those flashbacks? If Clow looks at stuff mysteriously, you know it has to be so important that you won’t figure it out until it happens.

Even though there isn’t much story left, I’m still hoping we’ll see some more crossovers. After all, nobody from Wish has shown up.

Really? I don’t see it like that… What I get from that look was that he was thinking about his (Syaoran’s) wish, and how sad he felt for Watanuki for paying such a heavy price for the sake of that wish (which is the same as Watanuki).
I know the ruins are important, but I never thought of them as FWR’s hidden place. But a lot of people are considering that idea ^^

I’m still hoping for more crossovers too. Strangly enough, not a single Nekoi character (apart from those of XXXHOLiC, of couse), has appeared. We saw Asou and Hinata as cameos in Outo but that doesn’t count.
I find it most amusing that we haven’t seen any of the MKR girls yet.

It makes me think that too. And my guess is on the clone, so he can “meet” his lover.
I don’t want Sakura back because I think that would make her death scene look very anti-climatic and less shocking than it was. If she revives, it would take away the true meaning of that scene. Thanks to her death, the clone might have realized he loved her.

I feel bad for saying this, but I haven’t felt moved at all by Sakura’s death. Yeah, it’s sad, and a major event for the plot, but I think I just want it all to end. Ha ha.
I KNEW IT ABOUT THE SOUL STUFF! I’ve been waiting forever for CLAMP to address it, but I’m also pretty intrigued by how CLAMP only mentioned it in xxxHOLiC, so those who’ve only read Tsubasa up to this point probably went “Huh? Stealing souls?”
Could it be that Syaoran, Yuuko, and Watanuki all wish for change of some kind?
There’s a pretty big missing gap over there in xxxHOLiC with respect to Watanuki losing his memories and how it paid for their trip. I wonder if it’ll ever be filled in. Or maybe we’ll get yet another flashback arc. Ha ha. (Everyone’s gotta have some big flashback arc nowadays… Kurogane, Fai… I wouldn’t be surprised to see R!Syaoran getting one someday.)

I think, in my opinion, we could set the “I give my memory for helping Syaoran” thing right after Tanpopo’s birth. He wanted to do what he can for help, so let’s create a lucky bird and give away all my memory ….please Watanuki pay attention at what you wish for… It will be hard for Douemki to save you again…I really thing “that” egg will be SO MUCH important, I have seen it to many time in the splash page along with the two mokona….

HAHAHA! Well, I don’t think he will disappear. Yuuko told him that he can chose his own future if he wishes real hard for it. So I guess Watanuki is safe if he wishes strongly for it.
About Tanpopo, you could be right. There’s the other egg yet, indeed. But I have this feeling that EVEN before he met Yuuko in chapter 1, the wish was made already. I don’t know, I think the fact that he sees spirits has something to do with it.

I have mixed feelings about the Sakuras, the one we’ve grown attached to is a clone, but having the same soul, is it really and have all the things she been through in vain? I wouldn’t like to see clone Sakura and as for real Sakura (unless she is CCS!Sakura) I have no attachment whatsoever.
Her love for her companions was genuine indeed.
As for Watanuki, I have mentioned in ‘s journal that his memory got erased not only as a price, but as a means to Yuko protecting him. Watanuki’s parents aren’t random, otherwise they wouldn’t specifically mention that he doesn’t remember his parents, there are a lot of other things that Watanuki doesn’t remember that have absolutely no emphasis put on it whatsoever, could Watanuki be Clow’s descendant? Maybe, considering he has Clow-like features like the shape of his eyes per example.
I wonder how they’ll explain Watanuki’s past in the anime series (in xxxHolic) though since it has been completely cut-off from the Tsubasa universe (except for the movie).
Kendappa was a bit on the yumemi side this chapter, she always had a tragic melancholic aura around her in RG Veda I wouldn’t be surprise to read that here.

Well that’s the thing, isn’t it? The clone lived different experiences and in different circunstances and that makes her different. And yet, their souls are the same, their true essences are the same. I like them both.

I can’t say that both Sakuras are the same, even if the soul is the same, their experiences and sacrifices have made them who they are.
Ohkawa usually takes charge of storyline and writes some scripts as well. A couple more months and we’ll start watching xxxHolic, yay.

Uhm. Time for crazy theories *mwhahahahaha* XDDDDD
After reading this chapter, I’m getting more and more sure that Watanuki is actually Real!Sakura (and don’t care one bit if it’s CCS Sakura, another Sakura or whatever) and it will all prove to be the crackiest gender-bender ever LOLLLLLLLL XDDDDDDDDDD I know it would be crazy as hell, but also very CLAMPish in a way. I think they really like pushing the borders.
We were already given numerous hints:
1. The same birthday. Watanuki doesn’t have the same birthday as whatever Sakura or whatever Syaoran. Watanuki has only the same birthday as Real!Sakura (and eventually CCS!Sakura). We don’t know when the clones were “born”, and according to CCS, R!Syaoran’s birthday should be the 13th of July, and I don’t think another manga would change this as Ohkawa seems to take pleasure in astronomy and Syaoran is the cancerest Cancer ever XD Yuuko has repeatedly stated that Watanuki’s birthday has a lot of hidden meaning, and this would be a very smooth explanation.
2. He is “the person closest to Syaoran”. There are theories about them being brothers, or Watanuki being Eriol, but Watanuki being R!Syaoran’s soulmate sounds more plausible. Considering that Syaoran already HAS a soulmate, wouldn’t it be smooth if they were the same person after all?
3. Not mentioning Watanuki’s powers which are pretty much the same as Sakura’s, even their character seems suspiciously similar. C!Sakura was obviously vague compared to CCS!Sakura and I kind of missed CCS!Sakura’s cute angry reactions, “rollerblade attacks” etc. LOLLL XDDD Watanuki, on the other hand, has cute angry reactions all the time (it’s actually one of his main features), he’s very cheerful and hyper, he feels a little like “Alice in Wonderland” most of the time, but he’s also very kind and he’s trying to please and help people around him (even sacrificing himself for their sake). Also, the way he’s getting angry when Doumeki disrupts his conversations with Himawari-chan is a lot like the way R!Sakura got angry when Touya disrupted her romantic moment with C!Syaoran (and both thought it was “on purpose” XDD).
4. In the last chapter we were told that R!Sakura “dissolved and disappeared”, while even Fei Wang doesn’t really know her whereabouts. At the same time, Watanuki appeared in xxxHOLiC’s world, and as we know now, he’s got no memories of who he actually is. His existence is very fragile and everyone, R!Syaoran included, is trying really hard for him not to disappear.
This would make the main hints I think. I have even more theories about Watanuki’s/R!Sakura’s LOLLLL XDDDD and R!Syaoran’s relationship, but I don’t have proper evidence for it so far, so this would do for now XDD Again, I know it’s crazy beyond belief, but I think that if anything, CLAMP really doesn’t care about the gender LOLLLL XDDDD

Well, it’s not certain at all and I know how crazy it is, but personally I would find this explanation very amusing and clever in a way (and already got a few people to draw Watanuki in Sakura’s costumes etc. LOLLL XDDDD) Actually I’ve been re-reading xxxHOLiC today and came across something that shocked me quite a bit:
In volume 6, Watanuki is remembering his parents for a moment, and he says: “A long time ago, I had a fever, and both my mother and father would put their hands on my forehead to see how bad my fever was…”
It is SO similar to certain moments in CCS that it’s striking O_____O
Also, I believe that Watanuki was the only person in Tsubasa and xxxHOLiC to ever use CCS!Sakura’s “Zettai daijoubu da yo!” (“I’m sure they’ll be alright!”). Clow has used it, too, but it was Sakura’s “invincible spell”.

Watanuki’s reactions to Himiwari could be an over exageration of Sakura’s feeling floaty…
but that totally shoots my holic OTP…unless he is housing her soul in his body and that’s why he is similar…and yet has his own existance…

That’s a good point, his reactions to Himawari-chan are definitely comparable with Sakura’s reactions on Yukito.
Someone below expressed the opinion, though, that Watanuki might be Sakura and Syaoran’s son from the future – I also used to believe that, and it would also explain a huge amount of things (and it wouldn’t be gender-bender XDDDDDD) I think both options are quite possible.

I think i like the idea of him being their son more…because if you thinking about it Yuuko refered to sakura as “the girl” and shoaran as “her boyfriend” so technically they can’t be that young in Holic time…the funny thing is that they haven’t actually turned up since it appears to be the same world….or at least I thought it was the same world…we haven’t exactly left the little streatch of city from Holic and CCS happened in Tomoeda and Tokyo

I also like this idea, but in fact after reading this chapter it seems kind of unlikely, because Watanuki could have proved somehow “abstract” up until now, but knowing he had had some life before he gave up his memories, you can’t help thinking he’s always been a real person. Hard to guess who he might be, my “he’s Sakura” theory is probably quite far-fetched XDDD

I’m not surprised at all that Watanuki and Fuuma and Seishirou seem to know what’s going to happen in the end either now or in the past. For a long time now it’s seemed to me that this entire story has been a setup from the start–sort of like the future that was foreseen in X, but with a lot less angsting about it due to the characters not knowing.
Anyhoo, I think it would be disturbing if the original Sakura’s soul wound up in the clone’s body, though that would resolve one of the major things I’ve been wondering about, namely whether original Sakura has any memory/perception of the journey or not–and if she didn’t, that seems somewhat sad, especially when Fai and Kurogane and Mokona care about her so much. But if her soul went into the clone body, she’d have the body memories, and would that let her remember the journey? Hmm.

I wasn’t surprised about Seishirou or Fuuma either, they are both “privileged” characters, that counts for their cool-ness, the fact that they always know everything xD
But I was very surprised about Watanuki knowing it as well.

That could be ^_~ Ohkawa could use that to make her remember of Fye and Kurogane. Maybe not every single detail, but still enough to make her feel love towards them ^^

Which (her feeling affection towards them) would make me a lot happier than if they ended the story as perfect strangers.
I feel like TRC is sort of like X in reverse, at the beginning it seems like no one knows what the future will be, and then as we go on we meet more and more characters who totally know everything since forever.

watanuki?
I’m starting to think that Watanuki is Sakura & Syaoron’s son from the future. That’s why he can’t see who his parent’s are, why they can’t get to him, why he’s so concerned about them, the birthdays etc. Why Syaoran wants him to stay alive, how they know what will happen in the future.

Brilliant chapter! The revelation about why Watanuki doesn’t remember anything was incredibly satisfying and the final pages were very beautiful. I loved that picture of Seishirou and the twins, so angsty! ^^ Though the page with Fai, Kurogan and Syaoran looking at Yuuko made me laugh because Syaoran looks so very very small XD
After reading CCS it crossed my mind that Watanuki may be Clow’s reincarnation
I’m not too keen on that concept though, I prefer to think of Watanuki as a person in his own right and not a clone or someone else’s soul reincarnated etc. I vote for ‘s ‘Watanuki is Saukra’ theory! XD
Ignorance alert! I was under the impression that splashes were colour pages, but are they just double ones? ^^

Satisfying is the best word. I was very worried about Watanuki’s nature, because it seemed SO weird, confused and pretty out-of-place. But this is not just a good twist, it actually makes sense!
Watanuki and Clow definitely have something in common, I don’t think he’s Clow’s reincarnation, though. I don’t think CLAMP would use that idea again.

A splash page simply is a title page ^^ Not necessarily colored or double ones ^^

It could be that too. After all, we don’t know WHEN the wish was made, and thus, we don’t know how Watanuki was before making the wish.
That theory could be true specially if the wish was made before he met Yuuko in Chapter 1. Maybe the -real- Watanuki has powers this one doesn’t.

Indeed, I hope we’ll find more in the next xxxHolic chapters. I wonder if he knew Doumeki before his first deal with Yuuko. Or … is he Yuuko and Clow’s son? And what’s the link with Kohane who has the same kind of weird date for a family name? I hope will learn that in 2008 too.

Me too. Yeah, Sakura died happily, she died protecting the clone from murdering real!Syaoran. Plus, she got to confess herself. She died happy.
