CLAMP Internet Radio #26

The show starts with Ohkawa saying that it is very hot, and she asks Mokona if she’s feeling well under her kimono xD

Favorite Talk of Flour Fortress

The special guest of this episode is Kikuko Inoue! She’s a seiyuu who has worked in a lot of CLAMP animes, such as Angelic Layer, Chobits, Magic Knight Rayearth 2, X, CLAMP Gakuen Tanteidan and Code Geass. Among the CLAMP animes, her biggest work is certainly the role of Chitose Hibiya in Chobits. See her complete profile here.

When she introduces herself it feels like Chitose is at the studio talking to CLAMP!! XDDD So funny–! She introduces herself as “Kikuko Inoue, 17 years old”, because according to Anime News Network:

She always calls herself “17 years old” (井上喜久子17歳です). Fans would refute her jokingly with “Oi! Oi!” (roughly equivalent to “yeah right”). To further promote her ideal, she founded a “cult” of “17-year-olds” (Juu-nana-sai Kyou, 17歳教). Current cult members include Yukari Tamura, Sakura Nogawa, Rina Satou, and Yui Horie.

Indeed, CLAMP replied with a “Hai, hai” instead xD Does anyone know why she jokes with that? XD

Igarashi starts out with basic profile questions such as her birthday and… which character she would like to cosplay? xD

Later Mokona goes on with work-related questions. I think the first one asked what Inoue wanted to be when she was a child, but I’m not sure. She answers “003”, and the CLAMP members don’t understand. She explains it but unfortunately I couldn’t understand xD So I tried to look up what 003 might be, but all I could find was a brand of condoms! xDDDD But… I don’t think that’s what she meant (at least now I think I understand why CLAMP was so confused about it XDDD)

Tongue-twisters!

As they always do whenever there’s a seiyuu guest, CLAMP gave Inoue a tongue-twister to see if she could speak it very fast. Well, she couldn’t xD She spoke it very slowly (and it was a quite easy one compared to the previous ones xD). CLAMP then adds that only Nakai and Yukana have made it so far xD

More questions, this time Nekoi was the spokesperson, and then they read an e-mail sent by a listener.

At last, they talked about her roles on Code Geass, Magic Knight Rayearth 2 as Tatra (“Natsukashii~”) and X TV as Tooru Magami, but she reveals that she had already watched the movie version before and had really liked it.

That’s it, everyone, Chito-, ah-, Kikuko Inoue-san! xD She has such a lovely voice! X3

These things are getting longer and longer by each new episode… this one has 39 minutes! o.o I wonder who the next guest will be… hum… Yuuko’s seiyuu, Ohara Sayaka? She and Ohkawa get along very well…

  1. aaahhh why didn’t they mentioned CLAMP’s Drama CDs such as X and Wish… Wish had Drama CD, and Kikuko-san did Hisui. Oh well xD I love Kikuko-san ^____^

I really wish the next one is Ohara-san XD

Oh, I didn’t know about them! X3 She’s such a presence in CLAMP works!

I got really fond of her as well, she’s sounds like such a kind, lovely person.

And I don’t know why Ohara-san hasn’t been on the show yet. Ohkawa keeps talking about her. Did you see on Newtype? Ohkawa actually e-mailed her to tell her about the 2nd Season of XXXHOLiC.

  2. Hahaha, that’s where that joke came from! Midori, a character in Mai-Hime and Mai-Otome, is played by Yukari Tamura (one of the members of her 17-years-old cult) and Midori is always proclaiming that she’s 17 even though she’s clearly an adult. XD The whole thing’s kinda creepy actually.

I would say, since women tend to lie about their age anyway, why not say something blatantly impossible. XD And juu-nana-sai sounds good.

    >Tongue-twisters! only Nakai and Yukana have made it so far xD

So that makes two in … seven? I expected the ratio to be higher. XD

The interviews are getting longer, maybe they are feeling less nervous about it and their tongues go on easier these days.

    • My pleasure, Tomoe-chan, thanks for taking it!

That’s a fine guess xD I guess at first it was just a joke but later it has became like a motto or something xD

The show itself is getting longer as well. Before they used to be 30 minutes long, and now it’s rare to have one that short.

Btw, completely off-topic: do you happen to have a relation of how many breaks (by issues, not by week) Tsubasa had in 2006, 2005 and 2004?

      • The 17 years old thing sound like a running joke among a bunch of friends. Nice to see she have the sense of humor to do this kind of cracky stuff. ^_^

I do. I have a visual table sorted with the issue number (year 2005 is a bit messy, the yanmaga’s issue number were a week in advance of the shounen issue number):
        http://membres.lycos.fr/x1999/tsubasa/chapitres.htm
And a .txt file with the complete data (issue number, date of release, color pages, etc.). It’s in French, but there’s so little text you should be all right :
        http://membres.lycos.fr/x1999/tsubasa/tsubasa.txt

I re-uploaded them today, they are up to date. ^_~

        • Yes! Thank you so much, I knew you would have such a thing *chu*

So, Tsubasa took breaks in 10 issues on 2004, 12 on 2005 and 11 on 2006. 2005 CLAMP had a health problem with one of their parents (during the Shurano arc), and that has caused a lot of breaks.

So the average is 10 breaks, 11 if we are pessimistic.

          So that means next year we’ll get around 40 chapters. We are in 166 now… 166 + 40 = 206.

But we are in issue #44, for issue #52 there are 8 issues remaining and Tsubasa still has 2 breaks until issue #52, if we count 10 breaks for this year too.

That means 212 chapters, by Shonen Magazine #52 of 2008….

If they stick with 8 chapters per volume, we’ll get more 56 chapters. Since we are in chapter 166, 166 + 56 = 222 chapters, but they might round it for 225, because it’s a fine round number.

So yeah, chances we’ll see the end of Tsubasa by the end of the next year are EXTREMELY likely. I don’t think Tsubasa will see the light of 2009 unless CLAMP decides to slow it down. Or maybe it’ll see a tiny little bit of light, just a little though xD

You don’t need to follow my crazy counts xDDD

          Like

          • Fear not, that’s my kind of crazy counts, I followed you perfectly. ^_^

I would also point that final tankoubon of Kodansha’s series tend to have less chapters. The last two chapters of MKR were published in the same issue; the 11th tankoubon of Sakura had 3 chapters instead of 4, Chobits’s last tankoubon had 9 and 7 chapter, even Clover had two chapters instead of three for the last published tankoubon. So I would expect the last quater of the story to have a average of 7 chapters a book, like the first part, which would end the series at chapter 215, with even fewer chapters for the final.

Plus, the first quarter was quite steady with only 5 breaks for 49 chapters. Between chapters 50 to 100, there were 18 breaks. Between chapters 101 to 149 there were 13. Maybe the last part will look more like the first part.

So I would agree the end of Tsubasa somewhere next year is EXTREMELY likely.

            • Great! And I hope you are right about volume 28 being shorter.

But for Chobits, it’s because it was primarly scheduled to be 7-volumes long, but Ohkawa got too carried away on the emotional issues and it became longer than planned xD

  4. I think it´s posiible that the 003 she was talking about is a manga character from an old serie: Cyborg 009. it´s one of my favorites animes since i was a child, that´s why i know. Maybe it´s not, but, well, it was the first thing i could imagine. 003 was a cyborg woman (the only one in the team)with an special ability with tecnolgy and some kind of radar sense. well, see you. ^-^.
