A XXXHOLiC-ish post… sort of

I have little tidbits for today’s post and I’ll gather them all here behind cuts.

The first one is an entry taken from Ageha Ohkawa’s Private Board where she talks about the 2nd Season of the XXXHOLiC anime.


Power explosion

Just as was announced a couple of days ago at “TBS’s Anime Festa” and on “CLAMP-NET.COM”, a continuation of the “XXXHOLiC” TV animation is officially in the works.

The staff (and the cast, too, of course) is the same as before, which means we’re able to work with Mizushima-kantoku [Mizushima Tsutomu, the director of the series/movie. “Kantoku” is like “supervisor”.] and Yokote Michiko-san [script writer for the series] and all the rest of the XXXHOLiC team every day for the first time in quite a while.

There are probably a lot of rumors going around, but really, the scenario discussion has been going pretty smoothly. We don’t have very much time, of course, but we seem to be moving quickly enough.

At least that’s what we wish we could say.
But somehow, this second season is a little different.

First, on the day of our meeting to discuss the scenario, there was a typhoon.
Yokote-san was giving us the complete scenario in HD, when all of a sudden, there was a blackout. It turns out the breaker in our building went down (and everything that Ohkawa had gotten up to then was lost).

Umyumyumyu!
It’s a little unsettling, really.

But everything’s going to be fine!
After all, we’ve got Mizushima-kantoku on our team, and he’s a tough one (even if he’s actually a softy underneath it all). No phenomenon, no matter how random or how mysterious, is a match for Mizushima-kantoku!

Plus, once the after-recording starts, we’ll have Oohara Sayaka-hime [Yuuko’s voice actress], and her “princess/queen at the same time” (<–both of them fit her) power on our side, too!

Oh noes, she lost all her work, poor Ohkawa-sensei! At least I hope the new re-written scripts shall be even better than the ones she lost =/

And we see that the production is still at it's early stages, at the script-writing process. I would guess a tentative broadcast premiere for next April.

Seishirou Sakurazuka… by Tsubaki Nekoi:

Nekoi has just posted on her Private Board a drawing that caught by eye to the point of wanting to share it here. It’s a (great, not just a scribble) drawing of Seishirou Sakurazuka from Tokyo Babylon!

What do you think about it? I think it looks SO great! He has that Rikuou-ish air xD No, I don’t mean Nekoi does Seishirou better than Mokona, that’s not the point. The point is, it’s so nice to see Nekoi drawing Mokona characters and vice-versa.

    my resistance to temptation has been dropping so much after i found out i can buy things from yesasia extremely easily ;___;

    Yes, like for cupidsan, the fangirl hatred, after the lack of fanservice in a so well suited situation like the fishing scene in xxxHolic 141, generates this supernatural event.

    Nekoi’s Sei-chan is gorgeous! He indeed looks like Rikuou in glasses. The major difference is that he’s smiling instead of smirking 🙂

      • I say it literally.. At my wedding day, it rained so much that my mother, brother and sister couldn’t make it to the wedding, they were swamped.. Later at the wedding party, after the ceremony, just appeared half of the guests… and the streets were like rivers

        … but after that all went ok and i’m very happy (after 6 years of marriage)

  14. Lol, that picture of Seishiro cracks me up way too much. He looks like he’s just been told that Subaru’s waiting for him, tied to the sakura tree, “Naked, you say?” }:D

    Plus the shonen-ai fangirl within loves the threads connecting Watanuki and Doumeki ^^ Bound together… with Doumeki giving Watanuki such a READ THE SUBTEXT-y glance… XD XD

    Does Ohkawa mean her notes about the meeting or her actual scenario? And Yokote-san was giving the complete scenario when it all blacked out, does it mean as the transfer occured? Are her files corrupted?

    They may try to broadcast it sooner, the first news we get for the first season was in mid-October, this time we get it for mid-August, and the second season would be likely faster to start as the whole crew is familiar with xxxholic by now. So I wouldn’t bet against a January start, with the new year’s dream story.

    Thank for the bigger picture! There will be a lot of Watanuki + Doumeki’s interaction, indeed, there is more interaction in the manga too past the Spider Lady arc and likely, there is more to come.

    Nekoi’s Seishirou is lovely! ^_^ Although he has a gouhou drug look. ^_^ But it’s been a while we saw him with his glasses and shikigami.

    • Since I’m commenting at the same time as you, I can help you out. XD Unfortunately, neither sentence offers much clarification.

      横手さんの完成脚本がHDから忽然と消え、
      大川がXXXHOLiCの脚本を打っていると、建物ごとブレーカーが落ち（そして途中まで書いた本は消えました）。

      うちのXXXHOLiCチームには、萌えキャラ（それもツンデレ）水島監督がいますから。
      不思議現象も、水島監督の萌えパワーで祓ってくださる事でしょう。

      Maybe a bit of both? “At least that’s what we wish we could say.” Here it’s sounds like she’s stating that it really ISN’T going too smoothly XD But it’s hard to believe she doesn’t have a backup or something… well, sometimes these things does happen, even with Ohkawa xD But wouldn’t she have everything back again once the energy returned?

      Yeah, I guess he was transfering them and the blackout happened. So yeah, they either got corrupted (but it’s hard, files don’t get corrupted if they are saved somewhere) or they didn’t save all of their meeting notes ^^””

      I don’t think so… I think she means her mere present will avoid these bad things from happening again xD She’s praising the director, that’s all.

      That’s the only reason of why I would bet on a January start. It’s off-season. I guess they made the announcement this soon because they couldn’t keep it a secret for too long, and the longer the wait, the higher are the expectations.

      Isn’t it? She makes a festival out of everything, I hope she makes a festival of “Mokona characters drawn by me”.

      • I know it’s rather unusual for Clamp’s anime to get an off-season start, but it’s not that unusual for anime to start for the mid-season (July or January). For example, Nodame Cantabile started on January, so did Negima.

        Not to mention we are talking of a second season and second season have more license to start whenever they want. For exemple, Tsubasa Chronicle second season started for the last week of april and the Sakura Card’s part of Card Captor Sakura started in the first week of September. The second season of Honey and Clover started in the first week of June. The second part of Naruto started in mid-February.

        Anyway, we’ll see as more news come.

    Seishirou looks okay, but I really like the way she draw the eagle, it looks so real and the colours were like blended together….

    I really like the HOLiC promo poster as Yuuko and Doumeki look very awesome! Gosh… Yuuko definitely knows how to show a good fashion sense. ^///^ I definitely have to agree with you that Nekoi’s drawing of Seishirou look incredibly awesome. Hontou kirei da na!! ^o^ I kind of thought of Rikuou from “Gouhou Drug” before reading the part of the bottom of the picture. Silly me!! XDDD Hontou arigatou gozaimasu for the heads-up news of the upcoming TRC and HOLiC merchandise.

  29. That blackout incident seems to be hitsuzen. Maybe is Yuuko’s way of demand for them to add more DouWata lurving… The poster is really pretty, with the recurrent butterfly motive and Doumeki and Watanuki sitting together like the good friends they are *channeling Himawari for a second there*

  35. CLAMP’s best character looks great whoever draws him! *_* I like this Nekoi version, complete with the shikigami transparent effect.

    I didn’t comment that earlier, but I’m so glad there will be a second season for Holic (and so, to know the series was sucessful). Fangirls will indeed drool and drool over Wata/Dou xD

  42. Both pictures are wonderful¡¡¡
    The xxxHolic game image is very good, I like Doumeki and Watanuki sitting in the sofa chained with the string and Yuuko’s hat is very very original with all of that feathers ^_^
    The image of Seishirou is very welcome these days, we hadn’t seen him for years¡ It’s wonderful that Mokona have done it and remember us that he’ll be always one of the most famous characters in their series. I’m glad for the info, the game looks nice, I think I’ll try to donwload it ^_-
