CLAMP New Year’s Party ~Four citizens of Special New Year’s food fortress~ Bigger Report

I was able to find a more detailed report of what happened at CLAMP New Year’s event !

Info about Tsubasa, XXXHOLiC and CLAMP IN WONDERLAND 2 are after the cut.


I found it in a japanese blog, of someone who went to the event, so the text was not written by me. It’s not a literal translation, some parts of it were cut (either because it was unnecessary or because we couldn’t translate properly ^^”) while other parts were added or adapted basing on other blogs and comments from people who also attended to the event.

My personal comments and translations notes are marked in blue.

Impressions!

Uwaa! It was fun! It was soooo fun!
The senseis were… they were within the radius of 5 meters! The senseis were truly beautiful, they were lovely people.
Nekoi-sensei’s hair was so smoothly straight! Mokona-sensei was naturally dressed in a kimono. And as I expected, there were people who came dressed in a kimono too. I wanted to wear it too!!
Ah, seems like Mokona’s Okimonokimono will be out on Feb. 14th. I want it!

As I thought, there was plenty of older people. Was I the youngest?
Here and there there were people of about 50 years old, I believe?
Oh now that I think about it, there weren’t people dressed as cosplayers! Pity!

Original Menu:

– SATSUKI (mix of champagne and orange juice, also known as “Mimosa”).
– AGEHA (gin, lemon juice and ginger ale, “Gin Back”).
– TSUBAKI (rum mixed with cola with a touch of lemon, “Cuba Libre”) [That’s my favorite xD].
– MOKONA (vodka mixed with grapefruit juice, “Salty Dog”).
– White Mokona (yogurt-based cocktail).
– Black Mokona (mellow chocolate cocktail).
– Ioryogi (Blueish cocktail. The taste was good!).
– CLAMP Piling (a pile of french fried) [literally, “CLAMP” xD].
– Syaoran Roll (Kotatsu rolls, they were arranged to look like Syaoran) [that doesn’t look very… tasty, does it? o_O].
– Tsubasa (chicken wings, they had the “mark” of Tsubasa) [how the hell did they manage to do that? xD].
– White/Black Mokona (Ice Cream decorated with an image of Mokona. It had marshmallow and chocolate frost above it).

Apparently the Net-radio will cover the event, so we’ll be able to listen to the event’s content. Video-cameras were there too. Therefore, does that mean the footage will be shown somewhere too? (maybe) [that would be just perfect but why do I sense it was only for CLAMP’s own personal use? u.u]


This is the present that was given to all the visitors. Ioryogi-san’s clipper!

Everybody came as guests! Staff members, directors, editors, even Kurogane’s seiyuu Inada Tetsu. I thought he had left after Tsubasa’s corner was over but when I looked aside I saw he was just sitting near the entrance.

There was a question corner too… and… (I can’t remember anything because my memory is too vague. But! I hope we’ll be able to listen to it in the radio later!).

Tsubasa’s editor was there, Kiichirou Sugawara-san, as well as the editor in charge of XXXHOLiC, Tsunakawa Junichi-san, and Kobato.’s, Kamoto Ikuko-san.

They made a quiz called “Who knows about CLAMP the most!” where the audience and the editors answered questions about CLAMP. Among the prizes, there were original goods, signed drawings (with the Mokonas), postcards, tickets to the upcoming event, CLAMP IN 3-D LAND DEBUT!, among others. Postcards were given even for those who didn’t answer to any questions.

[Some of the prizes of the quiz. The ones made exclusively for the event were the Ioryogi clipper and the Mokona=Modoki postcard. The Mokonas are riding a pig because 2007 is the year of the pig, for those who didn’t know ^^]

There was a certain part of the event where they showed a movie of CLAMP’s cats, Kakyou and Kogane.

CLAMP IN WONDERLAND 2 was screen-projected!

This too was amazing, but if it’s true then at the next event there will be the first open-to-public debut?
However the first part is until the part where Mokona-tachi are traveling through dimensions. I was dying of happiness.
At the beginning, it starts with Yuuko’s house with butterflies and cherry blossom’s petals. Doumeki’s face was different! Ah, it’s not like that, this is not criticism or anything like that. It’s not like that… this… fluffy? No, it’s not that… it’s like his kindness was increased… He looked like watching gently over Watanuki, who is playing with Maru and Moro? Anyway that’s good.
Also Black and White Moko-chan’s high-speed movements, their jumps at a very great speed are a must-see.
Yuuko’s beauty was increased! (I had a feeling about iiiit!)
The drawings are pretty. Specially when Yuuko is using magic or when she moves her hands. Wonderfulll!
Sakamoto Maaya’s opening theme “Action!” also has a music with a very pretty tempo, as expected. I like it!

Even if i couldn’t see him this time [apparently he missed it but someone told him], in WONDERLAND also appears the Tsubasa’s edition-Seishirou, who seemed like a “kurukuru no kirakira”.
Kurukuru?? Kirakira?? [kurukuru is something small that spins around and kirakira is something sparkling…]
At the very moment I heard that, I thought “Finally this is Seishirou’s debut as a magical girl!!?”. What a fool. I don’t want to see it (laughs) but I could also want to see it (which one?), maybe he does that because he heard of Sakura-chan’s story?

[This was a surprise feature, since nothing was announced about it. They only screened the OP, since the full video will be officially opened to the public only on March. What was also revealed, according to someone else who attended to the event, is that Maaya Sakamoto wrote the lyrics for “action!”, unlike the first CLAMP IN WONDERLAND, which Ohkawa wrote the lyrics for. Too bad, if you ask me, since I was hoping for it. This person also said that MADHOUSE’s Yuuko is very pretty]

Then..
Sorry I’m talking about it in an order which hasn’t no connection/relation at all…

Tsubasa’s corner:

As they said yesterday, Ashura-ou will wake up.
Then. They already talked about it previously, but they said “Tsubasa will end with a happy ending.”
Then they added “Except for one certain person, it will be a happy end”.
Who could that be?…Ass chin… ahem… Fei Wang, probably? It’s not limited to the main characters only… right? (sweat)
But, first of all is a happy ending. How many people are relieved. Wait a bit.
Ohkawa-san said “CLAMP never drew works without a happy ending”, so this means that in any way you look at it, it’s a happy ending!! I mean. The happy endings she’s talking about, they’re not always what the readers expected/hoped to happen. No, maybe not.
Aaah. I’m full of anxiety… Give to XXXHOLiC a happy ending too.
Ah yeah! From the many conversations they did, I got that XXXHOLiC will end after Tsubasa’s ending.

[About that, what was said at the event is that Tsubasa’s and XXXHOLiC’s end will develop together. And that when we reach Tsubasa’s end, XXXHOLiC’s mystery will be solved. In that sense, we would need to see Tsubasa’s end firstly in order to understand XXXHOLiC’s. Either way, both series will end close to each other, but that doesn’t mean they’ll end at the same WEEK. So we might have some chapters left after either one of them is over.

Also, it was also said that even though so far XXXHOLiC and TRC were drawn in a way that you could read one perfectly well without having to read the other too, from now on this will become more strict/severe, meaning that reading both works will help you understand better their ends.]

That’s it ! It sure was some event, wasn’t it? All the food and presents, those people who paid a lot for the tickets surely must have thought it was worth it ^^

The big surprise was, in my opinion, the screening of CLAMP IN WONDERLAND 2. It wasn’t planned to be shown in this event at all, but I think the production ended sooner than planned? ^^ No need to say that I was really sad to know that Ohkawa didn’t write the song lyrics for the OP (maybe for the ED? u.u). I hope the person who said it is mistaken but I doubt it, japanese people never lie

I feared this was gonna happen since Maaya Sakamoto, before being a singer, is a song-writer. I love Maaya and I’m sure she must have done a great job but… Ohkawa is Ohkawa ^^” And this was supposed to be a project with as much CLAMP’s involvement as possible… but oh well u.u

Okay so enough of me angsting, I know your eyes sparkled when you read that Seishirou is gonna be in the video xD Even if it’s his TRC form, it’s still Seishirou, right? XD Apparently the guy missed his part (how come ?!) but then someone told him O.o So, even though I really believe he’s in, please consider it just as a possibility, okay? I don’t wanna be blamed later for things that were not said by me ^^”

    I hope they’re right about him being in it, if only he’d show up in the actual manga. >_>

    This whole line about being able to read one without the other is becoming less and less realistic. If I were only reading one, I’m afraid I’d be scratching my head a lot at the later volumes.

    • I honestly don’t doubt about it XD Since apparently TB is out, it would be an “excuse” to use a Seishirou, by using the TRC one, if you know what I mean xD I don’t think they would let him off the video anyway… I’m curious to see what they meant by “magical girl” XD

        OMG, I remember that! There used to be meat slices shaped like that and the eye, mouth, whatever, was a different colour and you could take it out… um, I think I’ll stop now. >.<

        Well, Madhouse animated CCS, right? That was actually pretty decent, that's why I think they'll do a good job on this too. 🙂

    as for the food…i’m curious as to what it looks like, my imagination is only so limited lol.
    AH! CLAMP in WONDERLAND 2 i’m sooooo excited, i’m happy to hear that a seishirou is in it ^_^ lol, love that magical girl debut thought.

    As for okhawa saying that they never drew anything sad….*cough*TokyoBabylon*cough* cuz i clearly remember crying and TB was then topped by a heart wrenching X16….>.> i also clearly remember crying at this point, they however used Fuuma’s psycho reasoning and called it “a happy ending”-_- Subara from that era had zero chance of happiness, and has suffered for 3 years in hiatus status(they’re prolonged the time he has to live before they can kill him off brutally)

    ah but i’m so happy and pleased besides all of that ^_^.

      Indeed ! I was hoping CLAMP-PLA.NET would make a report too, but so far they havent. They usually post pictures of the food and presents of the event o.o

      It sure does… but even so, I’d like it to be written by Ohkawa XD I don’t know, it’s complely crazy but it seems like she’s not taking that much care of it O.o At least they did the storyboard, which is very nice ^^

    About CLAMP in Wonderland 2… I can’t wait to see it *___* I specially look forward to seeing this thing about… em… Magic-and-Miracle-Seishi-delight and the supposedly gorgeus Yuuko! Too bad there weren’t many more details revelead about the animation itself instead of the opening itself… Oh, and yes, I was also surprised when I read Ohkawa wouldn’t write the lyrics this time O_o Let’s have faith in Maaya Sakamoto ^^U

    As for Holic and Tsubasa, that wasn’t much of a surprise 😛 Everyone hoped/knews they would be gettinmg closer and closer until they finally kind of met. And it’s confirmed, then! *_* So not only everyone in Tsubasa (but one person xD) is going to suffer horrible deaths, xxxHolic’s too xDDDDD That’s what I call solidarity!

    errr, Tokyo Babylon (without the X part) has not happy ending… and with it is so damn twisted that hardly can be called ‘happy’.. only Clamp thinks it is happy :-/ …..

    So if they don’ consider Tokyo Babylon to have a bad ending what is this bad ending for one of the TRC people going to be like? O.o Just please don’t let it be one of the main charas or Subaru again…;-; I can’t bear something like X16 (which they think of as happy?) again!!!
