XXXHOLiC Guide Book (price: 1000 yens).
My predictions for both series are:
Tsubasa – mininum of 22 vols, maximum 25.
XXXHOLiC – mininum of 12 vols, maximum 15.
For me Tsubasa is a bit harder to predict, but I feel like 12 vols for XXXHOLiC o.o

spoilers on 119. I only saw translations but never saw the scans because I feel like I’m commiting a sin for ladydarkmoon. I promised to wait for it… XD

it seems like, actually it’s a gut feeling. XD I think there are a lot of mysteries to reveal in TRC

I predict Subaru’s cover ^__________^ oh, about number of books…. at least 24, but it is hard to say, lots of characters haven’t appeared and they are taking long in X-dimension, it will be TRC18 too…

Indeed. 22 is for sure since Ohkawa said it’ll be longer than X. Just “how” long, I don’t know, I just hope it’s not TOO long XDDDD 25 is a “round” number o.o

see, I think it’ll be fuuma first, maybe no subaru at all, given that fuuma and seishirou are related.
and also, especially given the whole fuuma thing that just happened, i can’t help but think trc is going to go to at least 30 volumes. and i think xxxholic would lenghten proportionately, to 18 or 20 (can’t quite remember how many weekly chapters go in one volume).

I think it could be Fuuma before Subaru too… I think it’s either one of them XDDD If you think that Fuuma appeared before Subaru, maybe he’ll be on the cover firstly too ^^

since tokyo started in volume 14, and we’re STILL not done with it, i predict the tokyo arc will be about 4.5 volumes long x___x;; then maybe one or two more worlds, and a final showdown or something… i think about 23??
xxxholic i would predict 12, it’s a nice number to end with, and it feels as if it’s getting near to the end .___.

I am not really sure how long each series will take… But I expect that Yuuko will take part in the stand off with Fei Wong Reed and that will also take parts in XXXHolic as well. So I think both series might ended around the same time.
It could be that Watanuki will also play an important in fighting Fei Wong Reed as well.
Has anybody guess how many feathers are there that needs to be recover? 🙂

Yeah, the first anime season featured the first 6 volumes, mostly, therefore, it’s logical if the second will deal with 7~12. And yeah, it smells like ending already .__.

I second , 23 volumes sounds perfect for TRC to me. For xxx-holic it’s 13 (because I’m born 13.11. XD – and it’s a magic number ^-^).

13 is a very special number for a lot of people all over the world (like 7). It’s the ultimate number of destiny, a disastrous number, in some hotels there is no room 13 (my mom works in a nursing home – and there is no room 13 XD). So it would be very CLAMP-ish to make xxx-holic (which is full of destiny and bad luck matters) 13 volumes. ‘-‘

Tsubasa is shonen, and shonen only ends when it stops being profitable. Therefore I can’t even venture a guess. Most weekly shonen series run past 25 volumes now if they are any kind of successful. XXXHolic will be shorter but it may run a week or two longer (timewise) than Tsubasa in order to bookend that series.

I know that, but I think that rule doesn’t apply to CLAMP. I mean, even if TRC is to be their most-famous and give them a lot of money, I think they’ll still end the series where it’s supposed to end ^^
Besides, the fact that TRC will be their longest series shows that they really are gonna stretch it the more they can XDDD

Well, that’s true for the Jump, but is it also true for the Shounen Magazine? Anyway, I don’t think the rule apply to Clamp, Clamp have proven they were no fluke, even if Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle is over, they’ll come up with another good story that will entertain the fan as much as Tsubasa.
Plus, in “Dreamland Japan” by Frederik L. Schodt, I read the Kodansha’s boss saying he wanted the anime to end around the same time than the manga, so both will profite of the momentum of the other. So far, it has been proven right with all Clamp works, even if it was said in the time of Magic Knight Rayearth.

Was ha specifically talking about CLAMP? O.o Did you read in your bookstore or do you have scans? *is interested to hear what Kodansha’s president has to say about CLAMP*

I read it in the university library, I’ll take a note to photocopy the interview next time I go there.
The Kondansha comic departement boss was talking of series in general, for the part about synchronization of manga and anime. He used the Sailor Moon series as an example. He also talked of how they recruit people that are famous in the doujinshi world and used Clamp and Magic Knight Rayearth as an example.

eh, i would say about 22-24 volumes at the most for tsubasa..for xxxholic, i have no idea since i haven’t even read much of it..^__^;;

I have xxxHolic pegged for twelve volumes too. I’m thinking Tsubasa might make it to the 25 mark though. But if it ended about 22, I wouldn’t be surprised either. You’ve got good predictions.

Yeah, 12 seems fine for XXXHOLiC since the 1st anime season covered mostly vols 1~6. Not to mention it feels like we’re heading to the end.

About Holic, I predict 12 volumes, not longer, not shorter x__x.
About Tsubasa I predict 2? volumes O_o, well, er: between 23 and 26 vols, I think…

Here are the following predictions that I will make for the following series:
xxxHOLiC Volume Range: 12 (minimal), 16 (maximum)
Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle Volume Range: 24 (minimum), 30 (maximum)
For Tsubasa’s case, there have to take care on bring the other Syaoran to his old self (a miracle is needed for this one), a third turning point (a little HOLiC involvement would be nice), and of course the final turning point to end it all (fight on!!). And most of all, to reveal all the mysteries especially about the real Syaoran’s case and stop making us getting brain-fried!!! O__o

I love them, of course, but it’s been such a long time already. And TRC is almost as big as X (and will be bigger, eventually) and XXXHOLiC is quite big for a CLAMP series too. I like new things and I can’t wait to see what CLAMP is gonna work for after them ^___^

NEVER ENDS?! ;__________x (eye gets poked out)
When CLAMP was starting the shurano/sharano arch, I was thinking: ‘fine, 21 volumes, good ending!’ People were even posting that CLAMP was aiming for 21, but looking at what they’re dealing with now (dangit, someone >SPOILER WARNING< lost an eye, turned into a vampire and…TWO SYAORANS! ) I think A) TRC will have a very 'intertwined' 'complex' ending (which I foresaw for X, but then…) that will be quite good, leaving all us fan girls/boys trembling, B) the ending requires too much inferring that it all doesn't fit smoothly together C)they have a 'rushed' ending, with lost of dramatic fighting and infiltration or D)we get an ending in which we don't really know what happens at the end (i.e. hand reaches out, blinding light, the end). I think all options might be a little too far fetched for CLAMP or vice-versa, but I just don't know anymore, I've gone through some real debates over what happened recently (k-u-r-o-g-a-n-e -_-), and I'm having trouble articulating exactly what might happened, but FOR SURE, I think Tsubasa's ending will have either a tonne of help from HOLiC or they'll omit them completely during the finale at the bad guy's place.
I think HOLiC is pretty long for a CLAMP story, partly being that there has never been any determined work going on, especially toward the end. So far, there have just been a bunch of stories, and I can't really connect them to the ending. So, therefore, HOLiC is probably going to end somewhere from volume 15 to a 17. Really, I still can't think about what the ending arch will be about (unless it will end while Watanuki still works at the shop).

I’d say 24 tank for Tsubasa and 13 for Holic.
I think Tsubasa will be devided into 4 parts, 7 tank, 5 tank, 5 tank, 7 tank, so it would make 24 in the end. The worlds tent to be longer now, so 3 feathers and the final for the last 7 tank kind of sound right to me.
As for holic, the first season of the anime cover around 7 and a half tank (all the stories of the 6 first tank, minus Syaoran-tachi, plus the moving picture and the snow ball fight), and I suppose they tried to split the material into almost even halfs, so I’d say 13 is the more likely. And thirteen is such a bad luck number, you can feel its magic. ^_^
As for the Tsubasa deluxe cover, I’d say Karen. One day, you will all admit Clamp use a girl then a boy, then a gril, then a boy, for the cover of Tsubasa, even if you don’t want to. ^_^ I hope we are currently in a X bunch and since we need a girl, I’d say Karen was the most important one until now.
