Ageha Ohkawa wrote in her Private Board at CLAMP-PLA.NET that today she attended to a business meeting at Madhouse animation studio.
In her words:
Business Meeting
Just came back from Madhouse after a business meeting.
It’s been a while (actually a month) since I last met with Maruyama-san.
As always, Maruyama-san needs to be healed like a Pokemon, he’s working his face off (laughs) [not really sure about this sentence].
————————————–
Thank you Sakura-chan for helping me out with the translation!
By the way, the Maruyama-san she mentions is Masao Maruyama, founder and president of Madhouse studios, as well as producer of most CLAMP animes done by the studio.
I love how Ageha Ohkawa of CLAMP has business meetings with Masao Maruyama of Madhouse. And I love how one month is a significant time between their meetings xD
Anyhow, thought this would be interesting to share, no need to say I got very excited with it. CLAMP x Madhouse is love.
I would love to know the contents of that business meeting, were they planning future anime adaptations of CLAMP’s works? Or was it just a routine discussion about merchandise royalties? xD

I was just trying to see how it was that people got onto the private bords at clamp-net…I wana see..though mostly for the art because my japanese is so rough…I need to study.
though since you apparently got in, could you tell me how you go about getting the account and password?

You must sign up to their mobile service, but such service is only available to japanese area. Once you register, you’ll get an ID and a password.
I happen to have a friend who lives in Japan and is a member of the service, he gives me the ID and password monthly and that is how I have access to it.
He doesn’t want me sharing to anyone else since sharing to one person is illegal enough, I’m really sorry =/

Although right NOW it seems unlikely, given the series is still at its 3rd tankoubon, it could well be a first meeting concearning an anime adaptation.
X’s anime was announced years before it’s TV debut… I think they announced it in 1999 or earlier and the anime debuted in 2001 ^^”

I forget which, but one of the usa companies eluded to an unannounced clamp license this year. They might’ve gotten the AMVs. I’ll have to look at that interview again..it was recent and pretty boring so I didn’t think anything of it.

Besides the AMVs and Tokyo Revelations, is there any other CLAMP anime that hasn’t been licensed? Unless they are re-licensing/re-dubbing an older series…

I guess a Kobato anime would be feasible, too, since Clamp always seems to let Madhouse do what they want with their stories.

Yeah, I see it as a just of matter of time… and pages xD
They did great with Kobato. in CIW2, even if only for a couple of seconds. I think they would do an excellent adaptation. Kobato is a mix of a lot of things Madhouse did by CLAMP: CCS, Wish and Chobits, they know the tricks xD

Really? Yeah, they might have gotten the AMVs indeed, or Tsubasa’s OVAs…

How come tsubasa and xxxholic were made by diferent studios other than madhouse was it because of madhouses reputation of making original endings and considering there clamps biggest project I wonder why they couldnt work something out . I also think having a kobato anime is too soon maybe a clover anime or legal drug because they could make original endings out of them .

Re: ja
I don’t know why Madhouse didn’t do it… maybe it was up for Kodansha or NHK to pick the animation studio.
>was it because of madhouses reputation of making original endings
I don’t think it was that… original endings are cool, makes it different than the manga. Plus, madhouse is not the only studio who does that.
I guess Kodansha picked Production IG to animate XXXHOLiC’s movie (which was announced firstly than Tsubasa’s anime), Production IG was animating another Young Magazine manga at that time, and maybe they thought they were suitable. Then, they picked BeeTrain for Tsubasa since it was a subsidiary of Production IG, at that time…

Re: ja
Well, Madhouse don’t do original endings for the sake of it. They do it when an anime adaptation is released before the original manga is finish in order to avoid any plot spoiling. So of course, since X wasn’t finish yet they had to invent an ending, in order for Clamp to still surprise their readers with their own end.
For CCS and Chobits, Kodansha, Clamp and Madhouse decided to synchronize the released of both manga and anime in order to stay true to the original ending. Well, they did some change, but orchestrated by Ohkawa.
The main reason of why they use an other studio was probably beacause the person in charge of the Shounen magazine didn’t want to pay too much for the Tsubasa animation. Shounen aren’t usually having great studio to work for them. On the other hand, Madhouse did had some great project to work with at the same time. Death Note, Nana and Beck would be some of them. So they probably didn’t have time to do all the project they wanted. I guess Tsubasa and Holic anime projects didn’t had a good timing to be released by MadHouse.
That said, I would be glad to have a new animation made by them. I’m hesitating between Kobato and Gouhou Drug. I mean, we saw a lot of Gouhou Drug in Clamp in Wonderland promotion stuff and we know that it’s going to be back on track sooner or later. An OVA with the first chapters would be nice. But Kobato is published in the Newtype and don’t have any animation, maybe they think of releasing an OVA for each completed tankebon? I want to know more. ~_~

Not all of them. Bones did Angelic Layer, Pierrot did CLAMP Gakuen Tanteidan. I don’t remember who did MKR but it wasn’t Madhouse.
Madhouse did most of them, true, but not all.
I already spoke this here and I’ll say it again, I think there should be a contract between CLAMP and Madhouse FORCING them to be the only studio to animate CLAMP’s works XDDDDD

Oh I see. thank you for the clarification. Angelic Layer and CLAMP Gakuen Taiteidan haven’t cross my mind (maybe because i never get the change to see them T___T) but i thought MKR was a MadHouse anime. I was wrong…XD

I’d love the idea about an anime for Kobato!! but it’s way too soon D:, and a clover or legal drug anime would seem kinda weird cuz they could have started it like years ago XDDDD
but if it’s a music video it’ll be just as good! x3 thank you so much! do well chibiyuuto-san!

Oh, that’s nice to know they have regular meeting, even if they work on no project together these days. Sure the meeting was probably about merchandise royalties for most of it, but maybe they are scheduling the next project already, even if it is for 2009 or 2010.
Thanks for sharing! ^_^
