It’s been a while, since I last commented on these, huh?
On the past weeks, due to a very tight schedule, ladydarkmoon hasn’t been able to keep up with the weekly scanning as punctually as she always has. I don’t blame her at all, we all have our busy periods. So, like always, I decided I would wait for her scans to do both the commentary and the upload at The Room of Requirement. I don’t have the permission to re-post any other scans apart from hers, and I don’t desire for that either, not when she’s been doing that job for so long and so well.
That being said, I will keep using her scans and only her scans as long as she still does them. Go for it, Alison, I wish you the best with your duties! ^__^
I couldn’t comment on the chapters earlier because this has messed up with my schedule entirely xD I was used to do it usually on the Wednesdays, Thursdays, or even on the weekend after, but among other duties that were ought to be done I confess I was lost xD
Thank you for everybody who e-mailed or left comments asking me what was going on, when I would comment on the chapters again and why the scans weren’t up (I really didn’t expect anyone to do such a thing XDDDDDD).
So the cleaned scans are available since last night at The Room of Requirement. XXXHOLiC and Tsubasa are up-to-date now. Much thanks to ladydarkmoon who provided the scans like always.
Tsubasa:
It’s a lot bit to comment after so long… I feel like I want to make a huge post with all my impressions, but that would make the post extremely boring. So I will not comment about specific things that happened at the early chapters, what’s gone is gone.
I was extremely happy with the outcome of Tomoyo’s “curse”. I should have expected, coming from someone as clever as Tomoyo. But Kurogane has just killed someone for the first time since, I wonder if his power will be decreased or if only for this case it’s “acceptable” xD Kurogane definitely found true strength, in my opinion, by deciding to sacrifice himself (or getting injured) instead of Syaoran. The Kurogane we met in chapter 2 would never do such a thing.
The outcome of the “curse” is, however, one thing less to be solved for story of Tsubasa. And that list is just getting smaller and smaller by every chapter…
In the end, Ashura-ou didn’t disappoint me. I mean, I knew he had the best intentions when he wished to be killed by Fye (that’s such a WEIRD thing to say xD), it’s from Ashura-ou’s true nature, after all. The big question was why Fye, exactly? And now we know he wanted to break the second curse that was cast on Fye by Fei Wang. I do wonder how Ashura-ou knew about it, though (maybe he “felt” it with his powers?). And more than that, what the heck is Fye’s curse? And why it would be broken if he had killed Ashura-ou? I think it means it has to do with killing… but isn’t it supposed to work only in Celes? O.o
Ashura-ou wished to protect Fye all this time, he just found really, really sadistic and selfish ways to grant that wish.
But the curse is still running… we’ll see more of Fye in due course…
Another feather! Inside the Flourite stone! What a surprise! I wonder if Ashura-ou knew about it? Most likely…
So help me here, this is the… 13th feather, right? Still, Seishirou has the 14th, the 15th remains in Tokyo’s water reservoir and the clone must have got a few by now.
Finally the resolution of the twin’s case! CLAMP really messed our minds up with this one xD One chose to save the other, and Fei Wang simply changed a thing or two here and there in order to pursue Fye to work for him.
I’m glad “Fye” wasn’t revived in the end… dead people are supposed to remain dead or “death” wouldn’t have the same impact it has. I’ve no idea how Fei Wang would do it, actually, since we’ve learned before from Yuuko that that is impossible.
Fye’s story has been told and it’s over. I’m completely happy and satisfied with it, all questions regarding it have been answered. It was intriguing, mind-eating, bloody and tragic. Just perfect xD And of course, it’s one thing more that we know, and one less to be told.
They are leaving, they are leaving! Next world, please! I’m totally curious!

If it was hard to talk about Tsubasa, it’s even harder to talk about XXXHOLiC XD
I was so confused the last time I commented on it, and 3 chapters later I’m still just as confused (if not even more).
So we have a frog-like creature stealing Watanuki’s sweets from a dark role, “Casper” re-appearing as Watanuki’s school-mate, nothing of it making much sense. Now, at least.
From this week’s chapter, I’ll take some quotes from iamsocool12345‘s translations:
I’m supposed to be a student, but I don’t even know what year I’m in.
Does that explain why we had like 4 Springs and Watanuki still at High School?
I thought my landlord had helped take care of me when I was little, but I can’t even remember what my landlord looks like.
That’s how he looks like, Watanuki xD
I know I cook, but I can’t remember ever having eaten anything, not even the things I’ve made myself, besides what I got from that fox’s oden shop.

….There are two dreams here. The dream that you see when you’re awake, and the dream that you see when you’re sleeping.
I’m sorry, what? XD So the question is no longer what is the dream and what is reality. The question is WHICH dream xD Are these dreams related to Fei Wang’s dream that must end?
God, is this confusing… This tankoubon was confusing from start to end, it was literally the Book of Dreams. It’s extraordinarily confusing, but it’s funny how in a while we’ll be reading this and thinking how stupid we were for not figuring it out earlier, and everything will make sense.
I can hardly make up a theory. Watanuki and Syaoran are the “same”. The egg Sakura retrieved in Tokyo became two once it got to Yuuko. One magical, the other not. Yuuko said it was the same with those kids. I think the answer relies in there, I just can’t figure out what it is!!
If Watanuki is been dreaming all along, why Syaoran and the others have been “interacting” with this dream?
If Watanuki is been dreaming all along, and if he and Syaoran are the same, can we assume that once he wakes up, he will look like Syaoran? *crazy theory*
Okay, I’ll leave now xD

Apart from all the craziness that’s been going on in XXXHOLiC lately, and the fact that Watanuki doesn’t really know who he is, I get the feeling that everything is gonna be alright with him, I don’t know why. Maybe because Yuuko, Clow and the Real!Syaoran put so much faith in him.

Thanks, chibiyuuto! i might be stupid, but i´m also going to always wait for ladydarkmoon scans and your comments. You two were the first source for my tsubasa hunger, and i´m gratefull, specially about ladydarkmoon.
Well, about latest chapter´s…I´m glad it´s finally over with Fye. I mean: some time ago, i was literally crying to know about his past, and what will happen with Ashura, but the cruelty and suffering extended for so long that i was crying now to make it stop. Even though, i like the story. The thing i dont like at all is Ashura. He sure could find another way to remove Fye´s curse without killing his entire own country. but, well, that´s the usual clamp´s way.
I´m really curious about which will be the next world. I bet they are going to meet the clone- at least i hope so. I want to know about clonie!!! it´s not fair! lately, every character has been more important than Syao-clone, and he is suposely, the main chara- ah, but i´m afraid that the more probable meeting will be with Seishiro. That´s also not fair. Syao-clone was suposed to fight him again, but in the present circunstances, it´s going to be Real-syao or… Kamui-Subaru. That´s the next story to solve, i think.
I´m also clueless about watanuki. Some time ago, i believed he might be CCSSyao-CCsakura son, but now… He might be another syao, or perhaps- crazzy theory upcoming- Clonie´s heart or soul. jeez!! i´m so curious! By the way, what a beautifull image with Yuuko hugging watanuki, and her dress floating,like butterflie´s wings!

She was there when we had nothing, and I don’t think it’s right to turn her back now. Before being a scan-provider, she’s my friend, that is why I will wait for her scans as well. Of course, other people can scan too and even more people can download it from them, but I personally decided to wait for her scans ^^

Indeed! What if they land in Tokyo again? They have left a feather in there… and we still have to see Seishirou and Subaru’s story coming to an end.

Ah, now that I think of it, there’s a scene of Watanuki and Doumeki eating together in the anime, did they mess up like when they made Yuuko all wet at the beginning of the Tsubasa film? (I know that sounds wrong, but you get the meaning ;;; )

No, we see them eat together in the manga! D: The arc with the girl with the wings? They’re sharing a bentou in the stairs.
And we see Watanuki’s parents, too.. I don’t think any of those things were real. I think Watanuki’s just forgetting about them, for some reason. Like, he’s dissapearing from the ‘real’ world because he’s entering the ‘dream’ world so much? Or something like that D:?

Celes was a great arc, just like we all expected it to be since chapter 2! I feel just a little perplexed about Ashura-ou, because it seems that there’s something missing about him… Why did he go to Valeria to rescue Fay? Was it all already to lift the curse with his future death??? How could he know?! O___o I know that Ashura is pretty famous for always knowing everything, but this is just too much!XD And he seemed so sad when he took Fay out… And most of all, it seems to me that he would have got mad and been killed anyhow, that he wanted to be Fay the one who’ll kill him because it would have helped him in the end… I bet we’ll discover something more about Ashura! Maybe he was an ancient Yuuko’s customer…

I had this theory about FWR for a long time… that he’s Wish is to revive someone, or to win death in general just like Voldie lol XD, and he need Sakura’s power and Clow’s ruins to do it. Probably he offered the possibility to revive the little “Fay” because he really believe that he’ll have this power one day!

I thought that FWR planned to take Kuro on his side just like Fay, but Yuuko interfered and sent Tomoyo to rescue him, and only after that he became Yuuko’s pawn… Uh, maybe Yuuko sent Ashura to Fay as she did with Tomoyo and Kuro, but Ashura was late!
…but I’m not sure of anything lately, Celes confused all my certainties!XD

I think the hints are being piled on pretty thick that Watanuki doesn’t actually exist. I would think that he was Syaoran’s dream, except that Syaoran paid to ensure his survival…so could he be Clow Reed’s dream, perhaps? More and more I think of Yuuko saying “The dream must be made to end” and I’m thinking she meant Watanuki. But hopefully Doumeki will be able to be there and bring him into reality.
As for Tsubasa, hooray that they’re leaving.

Well, I’m really happy things are the way they are. I was looking forward for this change.
Indeed the character development in Tsubasa is perfect. Most of it is due to the extend of the series.

If I’m still supporting that crazy theory, maybe the “don’t disappear” thing means “don’t disappear until you need to” In other words, if he disappears before that, clon Syaoran will never get back his consciousness and he will stays as that crazy being that likes to tear apart XDDDD Therefore, Sakura will be sad and she will always suffer for not being with him. However, if he disappears in the correct time then they have an opportunity to get back all to normal. Even if Watanuki disappears, he will live through Doumeki’s heart that will never forget him, and the fans will get another ending like the X anime XDDDDDDDD
Also Watanuki could be the resource of real Syaoran’s magic but who knows (Again another crazy theory).

I think Watanuki and Shaoran are probably the reincarnation of someone. Just like in CCS, where Fujitaka and Eriol was the Clow Reed’s reincarnation. Watanuki looks like Fujitaka; both don’t have memory and magic, while Shaoran looks like Eriol.

It’s a good point… pretty much like the eggs. One is magical and from it Tanpopo was born. The other one is not magic at all. Watanuki and Syaoran are pretty different to me as well. I don’t know why Sakura thinks he and Syaoran are similar xD

Wow, your summary (and other people’s comments) really brought up some intersting stuff, and I’m with the theory that the circle at the end of Tsubasa is the second cruse activating.
As for xxxHolic, I have no idea what to think anymore especially since it seems that Watanuki is real and not real at the same tme. Hmm, maybe when Watanuki is “awake” that is really his dream and when he is “sleeping” that is the world he really lives in. The question is, in which world are the people telling him to not disappear?

For the feather, I have the same count as moko_ko_nyanko, 13th feather back in Sakura (11 in soul!Sakura and the second in body!Sakura), 16th feather seen, plus one we know of but have never seen in dream world. With two feathers back in, Sakura should act just like back in Koryo-koku, now. Anyway, I hope for them that next world will have efficent medecine, cause Sakura is still stabbed through, Kurogane and Syaoran have many wounds and are shaking omniously, Fay was half shocked. The second curse seem to be activated now, but it may start to really work in another world. I hope will get into next world for the beginning of tankoubon 22 (that would be easier for the guidebooks anyway XD).
I wonder too if Kurogane will be weakened now he killed someone or if it was just Tomoyo tricking him so he would use murder as last resort and really mean it.

Not exactly, Clamp always have been disregarding the story’s season to fit the uniform change with reality’s season. Card Captor Sakura had four summer in two years and that wasn’t due to clow card’s whimp.

I understand it to mean they are two kind of dreams, night’s dreams which are just ordinary dreams (like for the bell ghost or for when he saw bone-kun while we see him in his bed) and day dreams in which he is partly in the real world and partly in the dream world (like when he’s at Kohane’s and grampa Doumeki tell him to get out or when he walk with Doumeki and Himawari but suddently find himself surrounded by darkness while his friends are walking a few meters ahead in the light). Since his fall from the second floor, he’s never totally awake, he just happen to see reality through his dreams once in a while.

He did eat sooner in the series, there are bites in the snacker he is holding in the cumputer addicted women story (book 1), while talking of horoscope with Himawari he has rice in his chopstick in one frame and no rice on the next one, he hold a water melon share with bites in it after the ghost story party at Doumeki’s (book 2), he has chopstick inside his mouth in the Fox oden story (book 3), his Duklyon burger slowly disapear as he talk with Domeki in the twins story (book 4), plus the numerous time he eat with Doumeki and/or himawari with half of his plate empty or food between his chopsticks. If Clamp imply he never ate anything of his entire life, just faking it, that’s just weak.
I would rather suppose he doesn’t remember eating because he’s dreaming, kind of like stuff that seems absolutely true in the dream but make no sense when you wake up.
As for what is the link between Syaoran and Watanuki, my brand new theory is that Watanuki is in fact Eriol! XD (yeah, Eriol lost his magic power at the end of CCS manga, so he became weak against magic and got under a spell like the one who kept Yukito in the dark. But he still has Clow’s blood, so the magical creature are attracted to him. He started to grow up again after he lost Clow’s magic and forgot all about Kaho, Nakuru and Souppi and now live in the same building as Chitose because she own Yuuko something. And he look like Syaoran because both are relative to Clow). Ok, it doesn’t make much sense, but at least it’s funny. XD
Or more plainly, Syaoran became two as he went/was abducted by Feiwang, half of his soul remining as Watanuki in the real world and one sealed inside Feiwang’s jar. They aren’t exactly the same just like Fujitaka and Eriol doesn’t look exactly the same (although Fujitaka and Eriol were more alike).

Wait a minute, the 11th and 12th returned to Sakura at the same time in Infinity. This is the first time a feather is returned to Sakura without her “soul”, isn’t it?
And I didn’t think soul!Sakura had any feather at all. Ashura-ou said the feather(s) prevented the body from dying, after all.
I was hoping they would go to another world too but it seems not… not now anyway. The second curse only takes place in Celes so they’ll have to stay there until it’s either performed or broken. And yeah, I hope things will be a little slowed down so we can “digest” everything that is happening XD
They could land in Tokyo again so Satsuki would treat them AND we would see Subaru and Seishirou’s story unfold ^^

My bad, it was the first feather for body!Sakura, Sakura had her soul back when the two feathers sink in her body.

I think that’s why I though she had Chii’s feather. So soul!Sakura should get more memories as body!Sakura get more feather … or not? Oh, that’s confusing, Clamp get Sakura back together soon, that’s killing my brain! XD

Unless major change, Tokyo is quite low on medical supply. And I don’t expect to meet the vampire twins or Fuuma in Tokyo again, they are dimension travelers after all. Time flow differently through the worlds, someday, after decades or centuries, the feather container will broke, either eaten by rust or broken due to the water erosion and after that day, sooner or later clone!Syaoran will come to get the feather.

First of all, I love your comments and missed them very much! I kept checking almost every day!
And as someone already said, Tsubasa and XXXholic are so sad lately…
But now that all xxholic theories are running wild and we don’t even know what was a dream and what wasn’t, I wanted to mention that there is something about Watanuki I sometimes think about and that I wonder wether it would ever be mentioned again in the series, and it is the watch he gave Yuuko on the first chapter. I mean, a watch is a symbol of time, the watch had to birds on it and Yuuko said it had “at least 50 years on it”. Where did he get it? Is it part of the dream? Besides, if you look at it carefully it’s pointing to the 4, which also has a lot of symbolism on it, not to say that Watanuki was born of the 4th month.
I also wonder what would happen with Doumeki’s egg and Kohane’s balloon. I am sure those two things would be helpful soon…but there wouldn’t be any chapter until October 15 ;_;.

I feel a fool… how come many of us didn’t realize that Watanuki didn’t eat??? xD
Now, all this dream thing reminds me of what Borges, an argentinian writer, used to wonder: are we in a dream or is this reality?
I think that everything Watanuki is living is happening in dreams…. but now I’m curious about the time when he will really wake up!!!! (If he ever will…)

I can’t help but hope that with so few feathers left to collect we’ll get some form of resolution on the Seishiro/Vampire twins story! It was great to see Fye’s past even if it did give me an extreem headache while it was developing!
Talking of extreem headaches xxxHOLIC becomes more and more confusing as we go along! Is Watanuki real or no? Is he actually the ‘clone’ Shaoran’s true self? So many questions and so very few answers…truly Clamp’s evilest tankoubon yet!

In vol04 of CCS, Syaoran simply stated ‘I was living with my mother and 4 sisters’,nothing else : we do NOT have any information about his father (or any other relative of his for that matter…) so we can’t just kill him off (‘him’=Syaoran’s dad) just because he was not mentioned…I mean, if we take CCS|Tomoyo as an example, she would answer too “I live with my mother” but that doesn’t mean her father is dead either ^^;;
If we think seriously about the issue, the CCS|Syao=TRC|Syao only exist because of our ignorance of both of them actually : what do we know about Syaoran before he came to Tomoeda? Nothing! Nothing at all!! The only things he ever revealed about himself was that he was his clan’s more powerful sorcerer, he is Clow Reed descendant and he was living with his mother and four sisters in Hong Kong. End. As for TRC|Syaoran, apart from the ‘apparent’ aspect of him (he has magic, he can fight…etc…) + the fact he is related to the whole dream problem and is bonded to Watanuki, we know no more about him then with do with CCS|Syaoran…
So OF COURSE it’s easy to say they are the same comparing only superficial aspects : they are identical in every point! And we find ourselves pushed to think hard about things to differenciate them and the only more or less valid ones are never related to them as person but always to the story or random factors related but extern to them. Then you just have to spice up adding few weird stuffs like : TRC|Syaoran is Clow Reed’s blood relative too and we know that XXXHolic and CCS worlds are the same, or him saying instinctively ‘Sakura’ as if he was used to do so, or that CCS|Syaoran was suspiciously insistent about going back quickly to HK (right after confessing to the girl he likes he suddenly felt the urge to hop on a plane?!) and even went as far as telling Sakura that NOTHING could stop him from going back right away *furthermore when she asked him when he would come back, his answer was ‘it will take me a while’ ?! o.O even though they got so many vacations being kids and everything? and he didn’t find time not even ONCE in YEARS to come on holiday to visit the love of his life!!!* , or that not being able to travel through dimensions how could he knows about Watanuki and be so strongly related to him, or OK he might be CCS|Syaoran’s real counterpart compared to the clone but’ it’s just TOO MUCH you know! There’s a limit to common things between counterparts! and then you get a possibility that the two of them are the same person. It’s just, you know, it’s just too much! Some times, it feels like the only thing left to do would be to have him say t-e-x-t-u-a-l-l-y :”Hey! I’m Syaoran Li from CCS, remember!?”…which is also make it, at the same, so very much, totally and utterly suspicious and I could almost imagine Clamp smirking in a corner, laughing about how they can play so easily with our minds ^^;;
I can’t help but be also very curious : they are plot holes that show that CCS|Syao and TRC|Syao are no the same, but there are also lots of things (like the ones I listed just above and many more) that shows they could be and I would really like them to explain them all…
