TRC 132

It’s up at the RoR since yesterday, but I only had the time to comment about it now @_@


Beautiful splash page ! It says that it’s the climax of the Tokyo arc… I wonder if they meant it because it’s the last chapter of tank 17 or if they are really leaving this world soon.

Specially since Kurogane have decided what they are gonna do from now on (too bad we couldn’t see what >.<). I wonder if they'll give up on the feather that's with Fuuma or find a way to get it.

I am totally surprised by Fye's reaction with Kurogane. I know he would act colder from now on, but that is REALLY cold o.o As much as I love Fye, I am personally on Kurogane's side here, because I never really get people with death wishes. If things stay like this, I wonder if Fye will refuse itself from drinking Kurogane's blood when he needs it. But what happen if he does? Is that one of the ways to kill a vampire? Not giving blood to it?

Very wise and sweet of Kurogane to not use the medicine for his own wounds and keep them instead to Sakura. And much wiser of Fye for figuring it out. (Btw, the Kurogane picture of page 15 is so toned that it's pretty ^^).

Syaoran called Sakura by her first name and what's better, in Hiragana ! It's the closest way you can call someone. Not even Fye, Kurogane, Mokona or even Syaoran called her like that (he only did it a few times, and I don't think it was on her presence). He later corrected himself and called her "Hime", but to me, it clearly shows that the real Syaoran KNOWS another Sakura, and what's more, he's very close to her. I know that where there's a Syaoran, there must be a Sakura as well, but I prefer to think it's CCS!Sakura ^^

I love the last scene, I love that kind of one-sided hug ^__^ There was a few of this kind of hug on Chobits, and it's so touching ^^

Anyway, last chapter of tank 17 (Wow, TRC is moving FAST), next week there's no TRC nor XXXHOLiC, but on the week after both series are back with the beginning of new tanks followed by color pages. I'll look forward to them ^__^

  1. The hiragana thing was really neat! 😀

    Fay and Kurogane will have to make up eventually… Soon, too, I hope. It’s not that I don’t like to see all facets of Fay’s personality, but there’s nothing very special about his angst and I’m worried that it’ll get boring. But with Sakura practically shouting, “We love you, you idiot,” I’m sure he’ll get the picture eventually.

  2. It was also my favorite chapter. I loved the last page and it was the only last page I coloured. if you would like to see it, I can post it on my journal. >_< not really good at coloring. *sheepy grin* I can't wait to see the colour pages for vol.18.

    • Oh yeah it does ! I’m not the best person to tell you this, but as far as I know, if you write someone’s name with the kanjis, it’s the “normal” way to call someone, you’re just being polite, but if you write it with Hiragana, it means you’re close enough to do that ^^ Unless of course, the name is ALREADY written in Hiragana (like Mokona’s name ^^)
      It’s really amazing ^^

            • Well, we assumer her name is normally written in Katakana because that’s how it had always been, even her brother called her like that, but I still think her “original” name isn’t in Katakana. It must be just like CCS!Sakura, but there must be a reason why everybody call her in Katakana.

              You remember when CLAMP went to the Puri Sute show? Somebody asked why the use of katakana and Ohkawa answered but, I couldn’t get since well, I don’t know japanese ^^

              But if you want, I can ask for my friend, he gets a lot of japanese and he might give us a light ^^

              Even so, I think it does ^^ You know, katakana is still very “cold” XD I don’t know, I think Hiragana is so much more friendly ^^ It’s the first thing that children learn in school, it’s very pure in that way ^^

  6. Quite interesting on how he called her, didn’t know that either. Just another thing that doesn’t translate into English. Pretty sure he has a Sakura too, why else would he naturally call her just by her name if the only one he knew was from watching through the eye? The fact that he is related to Clow Reed and has a close tie to Watanuki (who Clow knew about) is all pointing to CCS. Won’t know for sure for a good while though. -_-‘

    The last frame is great, I think Fay may have finally gotten it. If he didn’t, Kurogane as well as the rest of the group need to smack him until he does. XD

      That is so true. It’s amazing how complex and detailed the japanese gramatic is. It can tell a LOT of things depending on the way you use it.

  7. I think that part of Fye’s coldness comes from a self-hatred that he’s throwing at Kurogane. They’ll either figure things out or Fye will decide to smack on his GENKI :DDDDDD facade again. I’m betting on the latter.

      I think so too. He’s being very ungrateful, IMO. But if saving his life wasn’t enough, then WHAT would be? Well, maybe if Kurogane kills Fye he’ll like it ¬¬ Fye needs to find a new reason to live.

      • Maybe he *would* like it if Kurogane killed him. XD Did Fye have a reason to live before? I can’t think of anything, all he wanted was to keep running away. This might have been the final straw of suckiness. I can hear him thinking; “AW MAN!!!”

        Maybe this is good for him? If he can’t pretend to be all-happy-smiles maybe he’ll start to reexamine himself and find reasons (like loving Kurogane!) to live.

        • Yeah, all he wanted was to run away. But it’s a bit contraditory, since people usually run from those who want to do some kind of harm to you, but ISN’T THAT WHAT FYE WANTS? XDDD Unless it’s some twisted reason (probably) that we have yet to find out ^^

          • I’m guessing that Fai was mentally preoccupied with his own situation back in Ceres. He’s running as a way of waiting for his past to catch up with him, you know, bidding his time.

            I think that up until recently Fai wasn’t really trying to get involved emotionally. (Despite the fact he already was.) At the very begining he said he’d go along as long as he didn’t get hurt. The boy’s been lying to himself and everyone else since the begining of the story.

            It’s pretty clear until recently that Fai was the most secondary of characters. Sure, he helped out a bit but he really didn’t do a whole hell of a lot. He has no reason to help these people, and he’s always had something of a death wish but duty or cowardice or something else kept him from offing himself. Maybe he wanted to go down in a hail of gunfire.

            All that being said, everything that has gone wrong in these last few chapters were basically Fai’s fault. He couldn’t stop Syaoran, lost half his magic to Syaoran, and was willing to die for his mistake only to have Kuro get himself involved to save him and then to have SAKURA of all people to get involved to save him.

            Now he’s involved emotionally and he blames Kuro for that.

            All that being said, I agree with Fai in thinking that Kuro is an idiot for letting Sakura go off by herself. Altruism or not, nothing up till now pointed at Sakura being some kind of super hardcore adventurer type. I’m guessing that her luck got her through her little trek alive. (Plotwise, well, she can’t die, but they don’t know that.) It’s too bad Fai didn’t get all up in Kuro’s face about it.

            I do love the last panel though. Now can we get over the pity part CLAMP and move the plot along? Maybe some rehab on a tropical island demension would be in order for a regroup.

            • I just want to say that I loved this comment. 🙂 I think you pretty much hit the nail on the head right there, especially about Fai’s involvement in the journey and the recent happenings. 🙂

              He’s no longer able to hide his emotions behind a smile so he does a full turn and hides it behind nastiness, even though he pretty much should know that Kuro sees through both. 😛

              I agree that letting Sakura go just like that was kinda… stupid, but I think Yuuko wouldn’t have allowed anyone to go with her anyway, after she accepted the task. Or maybe Kuro’s always known somehow that girl was thougher than she looks. XD

              Pity party or not, I think this was one of the best arcs yet. 🙂

          • Maybe he wanted to run away from something he has done (to Ashura-o ?). He might think he does not worth to live, but he can’t kill himself. So he is kind of hoping he will die in a fight, and he won’t have to run away anymore (and maybe stop to live with the mistake he did). But with the three other travelers, he had a nice life, and he even became really close to Kurogane, and that’s not going according to his plan. So when he fight clone!Shao, he finally thought everything was done. And suddently he woke up, being a vampire and his life is on Kurogane’s hands. And if I remember well (correct if i’m wrong, I might mix it up with another story) Kurogane will be harmed (or killed) if something wrong happens to Fye (I’m really unsure of that one).

            Yeah, I’m totally losing my mind, but it’s quite late and i’m all sleepy “^__^

            I just hope I won’t stay like that too long, I miss all his joy already ;__; (you say he is cold, but he is a real iceberg… He even freaks me out, with all those dark glares he makes…

  8. My! Since I don’t know japanese, I’m very grateful to you for pointing out the hiragana thing 🙂 It’s too SWEEEETTTT!!!!!! Even thought it’s a shonen manga, I’ve really been missing some kawai SS stuffs here and there 😛
    I’m actually “working” on the splash page with Syaoran : I’m gonna make a vectores wallpaper out of it; I feel like I’ll have LOTS of funs covering him with blood ^_~ Mouahahahahahahaha!!!!

  11. I didn’t notice the use of hiragana at all. I just skimmed the chapter and then read the translation. The things you miss!

    CLAMP’s been pretty depressing lately. C’mon, some good stuff has to happen sooner or later.

    • It is very easy to miss indeed. I almost missed it when I was typing the comment (because it’s so small and subtle). But that’s why the japanese scans will always be better ^___^

  12. The intricacy of the japanese language is amazing; thank you for that little tidbit ’cause I wouldn’t have realized otherwise. ^^

    I guess I understand the whole Fay dilemma. Animals/humans are at nature selfish creatures and used to making their own decisions concerning themselves, and to have someone forcibly make one for you can be a little against nature. I’m not condoning Fay’s death wish (I’m completely against it myself) but until we know what Fay’s story is I’m holding off judging anything about the Fay and Kurogane relationship. Of course CLAMP could just be reacting to the rampant love of the KuroXFay relationship and responding as such. XD I want to predict two things will happen. 1) Kurogane will be the only one who finds out Fay’s story (’cause Clone!Syaoran’s investigating nature is now gone from the group) and 2) Fay will refuse to drink blood, until he can’t take it anymore and we’ll get a beautiful 2 page spread of fanservice. XD XD

    Whatever happens, this chapter was awesome, and that last page just plain heartrending. ;_;

    Though it does make me wonder now what Kamui did for blood in the meantime…

      I second that ! Although, I too am totally against death wishes, so I’ll hardly accept it, but let’s wait and see surely.

      I think the only death wish I can “understand” is Kakyou’s, but even so, I don’t think it’s the right path, there are other ways to escape your sorrows.

  13. As, always thanks for your effort ^_^

    That was a really dramatic and touching chapter O.O

    But for some reason the last sentence made me think. “Her kindness reaches out to help the world”, so this maybe means that “her kindness” is the power that Sakura has to change the world O_o. Also, it can be supported with something that Fuuma said on one of the last chapters “the feather has the power to protect the things that are around it”, in other words, the feather can “help”. Moreover, it’s only me or… Tsubasa is getting a little similar to Kobato. In Kobato, she has to heal people hearts with her kindness and pure hearth. Look at Fujimoto who changed because of her. In Tsubasa we can say that with Sakura’s power, she will heal fake Syaoran’s hearth and back him to normal. (O.K. maybe is only coincidence). In addition if “kindness” is that power, yes, it can help the world, but if we change it with her antonym, it can be interpreted with hate or repulsion, which can destroy the world (wow I feel like I’m in X). Anyway, if that’s Sakura’s skill is really powerful if you think on that way O.O But maybe I’m thinking too much.

    BTW, now volume 17 is over, so the question is: which character will be on deluxe cover? Will be Fuuma or Subaru? O.O Both are good for me ^_^

      Very interesting your theory. I do agree that her power is based on kindness and that if that power were to be on Fei Wang’s hands, it would cause damage because he would control it with ambition and rage, why not? We don’t know his intentions yet, but Yuuko disapproves it so it mustn’t be any good thing. As for the clone, to me his salvation is directly related to Sakura, she’s the only one who can touch his heart.

      • Good! so this means that I’m not so crazy as I thought XD
        Feiwan’s intentions. Maybe is the theory of revive someone, because if you think, Yuuko disapproves it because it can change the normal flow of life and death. But who knows maybe is something deeper.

        BTW, I just hope that CLAMP put the cover on their new update. But for some reason is fun to still guessing ^o^

    This chapter was a wonderful way to end the tank, I loved all the emotional stuff going on. Also, about the hiragana-thing: in the CCS manga, Sakura’s name is written the same way – “Kinomoto” is with kanji, but “Sakura” is always with hiragana. 🙂 So… another clue maybe..? 😀

    I’m curious where Fai is going with this attitude but I have to say, I currently really enjoy this cold Fai. 🙂 It’s such a change from his previous attitude. I do think that this is somewhat like his real face.

      Very true indeed ! You know I’m totally for CCS!Sakura, but some people just won’t accept it until a decisive confirmation =\

  15. Yo, Chibi-Yuuto! Genki desu ka? I apologize that I writing my post so late due to no power in my country half of the day. But here it is!!

    First of all, love the splash page of Clone!Syaoran looking so gorgeous with the broken glass and the blood. This concept was sort of a combination of X and HOLiC. This was a very good chapter and it focused mainly on Kurogane and Fai. Uwaa, Wanko-daddy and Nyanko-mommy are fight and arguing over the daughter’s safety. I love the expression on Kurogane’s angst when Fai walked away from him. Also, the page when Fai’s vampire eyes flashed when Kurogane tried to stop him.

    But what touched me the most is the last page when Sakura is in his arms and apologizing that she couldn’t do anything when he was in pain. I almost cried and was sad when he breaks down and cries as he hugged Sakura.

    Like I told on Inarikami’s post about Fai showing his emotions:
    I must say that all the times that Fai and Sakura were together in several worlds, he has been kind of like a second father (or mother, for those fans who consider that way) and a mentor to her. Even though Fai hides his pain on the previous times, this is the first time that he finally shows his pain in front of the group. That was the coolest thing from the character of Fai.

    Wow, I didn’t know about the hiragana on Sakura’s name (I only have the English version of CCS). I wish I had a Japanese version of the manga to see if there are clues that will help us out. I think were getting a little close to see the identity of the Real!Syaoran. Other than that, it was a very good way to end volume 17.

    Next week I will try to kill the boredom of having the week of no-HOLiC/Tsubasa abuse *sobs*. I’m sure that the chapters not only will feature cool colored pages, but with great new concepts for the new volume.

      As for Fye, I think his personality is too extreme. He’s either too good to your or too evil, you know? If you disappoint him big time, he might never be the same again with you. But overall, his true self must be the one we know so well, the smily Wizard ^__^

    i´m finally back from a tryp, and nothing can make me happier than a trc chapter with a beautifull image of syaoran- oooh, and is clone-syao with an unreadable expresion- it´s not he´s usual cool look, dont you think?-
    Really interesting the familiar way real-syao called sakura, thanks a lot for telling us!
    i´m dying to hear the story of this syaoran!! and also, i cant judge about fye atitude when we dont know about his past, but i got the impresion that maybe is some sort of bad luck, like himawari´s. In that case, we will be able to see two choices from the same problem: fye, who wants to give up, and himawari, who continuos living despite her lonelines and tragedy.
    oh, but that last image of fye´s hug, was so sweet. i love fye, i hope he could survive at the end.
    and now, to wait again, tsk!!!

      I think CLAMP wanted to show once again that he suffers no pain at all, which is why he’s so absent-minded even though he’s all bloody with glasses all around.

      You have a very good point indeed. In that sense, I prefer Himawari’s character more. Because I love strong characters like her ^^ (this might change, of course, depending on Fye’s backstory ^^)

    Fye is being really cold towards Kurogane (and Kuro-pun was right when he asked Fye why he was so afraid of trusting somebody….).
    Koro-wan has changed a lot in so little time!!!!
    I loooooooooved when Syao called Sakura by her nameee!!!

XD since there’s things I don’t get to know if I don’t have the translations @,@ and I really enjoy reading your comments…and besides! you told us something I really didn’t know, which was about the hiragana stuff…and really! I think the same way, wherever there is a syaoran there must be a sakura too XD! and I feel like it was the way he used to call her…I mean his sakura X3, and well clone!syaoran, I dunno if it was in hiragana, but he only calls sakura by her name when she’s not there XDDDD lol.
    Fye got angstyy DDDDDD: and I didn’t like it that much…but the hug at the end was so touching! I loved it X3 kyaaa…now I’ll have another week of pain with no holic XD and plus no tsubasa too! ;___; *dies* but the color pages will revive mee XDDD thank you so much chibi yuuto-sama!

    Yes, I got the same impression. You know… the more I read TRC, the more I think you’re right and he *is* CCS!Shaoran. But I’m still going to need a lot of explanations if Ohkawa wants to prove it’s not a plothole. :/

    I still hope that Fay can’t keep being so emo even after what Sakura did and said! I can’t imagine Tsubasa without the happy-Fay… I even think that the plot would suffer of the loss… Too much sad things without Kuro – Fay gags can become a problem in long distances…

    I have the feeling TRC is going to be longer than Ekkusu… XDDDDDDD and I´m already anticipatting the hard week that expect us u.u, but hey they´re just four people and drawing 3 series at the same time! and they even update clamp-pla! is incredible as it is! They really love what they do, is truth ^^ Most of the mangakas always complain about dates to deliver the finished chapter, often in extra-bonus chapters in the tanks, and they never did that! o.oU

      I know, you are absolutely right, I’m not bitchy when it comes to these breaks because of that. It’s just the normal fan complain, who’s eager to see more continuation of the works ^^ But our authors’ health comes first of anything !
      About CLAMP-PLA, even though they don’t do all the technical work such as webdesign, coding, uploading, they still post the entries on their blogs, draw the SDs and occasional pictures/wallpapers and NOW they are doing the webradio too !

      Although the shimikiri is their worst enemy, it’s really hard to see them complaining about it indeed xDD

  22. i actually really like the cold fay right now. it just gives so much more depth to his character and im really REALLY praying that we’ll see his story soon. of course i would give anything to see happy-go-lucky fay back again though. everything is so dark and angsty now =(

    i noticed that it was in hiragana and i thought that was weird but i didn’t know that it actually implied that he was close to her [or rather, someone just like her *cough*ccs!sakura*cough*]. it’s great the things you learn and it’s one of the reasons why i want to learn japanese properly so i can read the originals and not miss stuff like this when it gets translated to english [yukito called touya like this in ccs too?]

    that last scene was definitely a heartbreaker. i really want to go and attempt to color it now ^.~

    i really cant wait to see the next chapter!! when do you think we’ll be seeing clone!syaoran again? i really have to catch up with xxxholic but the whole chapter differences between the magazines and the tankoubons is really messing me up so i have no idea where to start >___< guess im gonna have to just wait for bwys…

      Oh, that’s a nice question. I think a great time for him to show up is at the end of the tank since it’ll be like TEH cliffhanger. Since vol 17 just ended, maybe he’ll show up at the end of 18? I’m also curious to know if he’ll show up everytime he gets a new feather or if he’ll appear with all of them at the same time o.o It changes things a bit depending on which one..

  23. Fay and Kurogane know each other TOO well by now ^___^ (and I thought he was waiting for FAy to lick his back :P, never imagined that other could be the real reason, Fay is very sharp too)
    The way how Kuro ‘attacked’ Fay asking if was so scaring to beleive in people only made him more angry becasue that was SO true. This has been the more sincere conversation they have had and they almost ended fighting………… ummmmmm…….. not good…….. But Sakura saved the chapter, the volume, the Tokyo ppl and the arc, the hug was too lovely ;_;

    Can’t wait for 133.

  24. Aggh, being away a couple of days isn’t going to help me to catch up with TRC. xP Luckily we’ve got a week’s vacation now, so I’ll definitely see what they’re up to! >:D

    Poor Kurogane for being dissed by Fye… [You idiot, they all love you and that’s why they won’t let you die!] But eventually things will get better. They suit each other so well.

  26. Thanks once again for the update!

    The splash page is awesome! I love it. And if what those words said are true, does that mean by next chapter or so, they’ll be leaving to the next world? Even though they have prolonged their stay in Tokyo much longer than any other worlds, I still wished they’ll stay longer. I’m just very much in love with the X world, that’s all. It’s just sad to have to say goodbye to it.

    The fight between Kurogane and Fye is simply…wow. Even though Fye has his reason to be angry with Kurogane and I understand that, but his treatment to him has went overboard. There’s no way you can treat the person who have saved your live, be it against your wish or not, so coldly like that. I pity Kurogane. But he’ll survive. ^^

    I can see the possibility like you, too. If Fye is to deny himself of Kuro’s blood, what will happen to him? Or maybe, to punish Kuro of the things he did to him, Fye will violently feed on him. Like a hunter to his prey. Speculations. Speculations.

    That last scene is LOVE!! .

        é, do nada. o seu livejournal tava aparecendo sem o background do syaoran fazia um tempo. mas hoje, a img abriu quando eu entrei. então pensei em experimentar o RoR, e pra minha surpresa funcionou. tenho até q testar pra ver se vai funcionar de novo, ou foi só sorte.
