I needed the subbed versions to go on… I apologize for the delay *bows*
The review of episode 3 is gonna be short and harsh. Because it’s been a long time since I first watched it, and the raw feelings went away, and also because I hated didn’t like the episode, so bad critics ought to be told.
The chara design was weird, to start with. Distorted eyes, mouths, noses and faces in general. Kurogane and Sakura were the worsts in my opinion, and Tomoyo sometimes too. Nothing too big, but it was annoying nevertheless.
The direction/storyboard was also awful, they stayed with the same panel (the one with Fye, Kurogane, Tomoyo and her guards) for WAY too much time.
The thing with Syaoran and Ryu-oh was lame ! No need to do that AT ALL. They are friends, okay, he saved his life, okay, ENOUGH! You know? There are other friends/couples you should be working with, BeeTrain. Like Tomoyo and Sakura or Fye picking up a wounded Kurogane.
And how LAME was that sequence with Syaoran and Ryu-oh, huh? I’ve lost the number of times I rolled my eyes XDDDD
The fat guy going “I press this button here and you’re screwed !” Ah, how appropriated, let’s abuse of the technology ! ¬¬ I swear it gave me flashbacks of Pokemon’s Team Rocket.
Not enough cheers after Sakura wins… GEEZ, what’s wrong with this dead audience?
Can’t they realize how Ryu-oh looks stupid with that pointed tooth?
When Kyle came and there was that explosion, I can’t lie to you all, I thought it was the funniest thing ever XDDDDD Sakura, Tomoyo and Mokona were there laughing stupidly and then BAN, Kyle came like “Oh, shut up !” XDDDD
This sequence was the best one of the whole episode, IMO. I don’t know if I’m starting to like Kyle, or if it’s because the very nice soundtrack, all I know is that the tension was well-represented.
Tomoyo doesn’t look half as cool with her gun as she did in the manga, though.
As you can see, I was bitter with this one, yeah XDDDDDD I’m sorry but I cannot pretend that I liked it when in fact I didn’t. Episodes 1 and 2 were so good, almost perfect compared to this one. HOW ON EARTH they think they can make one of the biggest arcs of the manga fit into 3 episodes? Not even Hanshin had 3 episodes, for heaven’s sake.
Lots of things were cut, lots of details. Tomoyo isn’t really Tomoyo, she didn’t sabotage the whole race, just the preliminary, and we didn’t get to see her relationship with Sakura unfold well. Not enough craziness of her part (lame job, Maaya). They didn’t even show Sakura and Tomoyo making Yuuko’s dress. I also didn’t get the same feeling that I got from the manga of how powerful and loved Tomoyo was in that world.
To me, 1 more episode would do the good. Everything seemed way too rushed.
In other words: They screwed Piffle up.
Oh well, moving on… there’s another episode to deal with…
This episode, in spite of being original, it’s really good. In fact, I liked it more than the previous episode (believe me, it really takes something for me to like original episodes, they usually stink).
First thing to notice:
Kurogane: Don’t say things that only occur in movies.
Is that a mistake of Live-Evil’s? I hope so… because I don’t think Kurogane is that fond of movies, I think nobody at Nihon knows what movies are.
Fei Wang asked for Xing Huo to send them to this world. Hummm… it serves to show that they can control their steps… at least until Sharano/Shurano.
Yuuko showing up, and being there for a long period of time, doesn’t bother me at all. But WHO on their sane mind gets ready OUTSIDE his/her place? ¬¬ On the manga, she was getting ready to go to Doumeki’s temple, because he and Watanuki were there. And here, BeeTrain just got the same panel and copied it. She’s always outside her store, it wouldn’t hurt to see her INSIDE more often. Lame, BeeTrain, lame. At least this time she’s wearing the right clothes.
So, good thing they kept the White Day thing *more reasons to see Yuuko*.
Is it just me or the feather’s design is blue instead of red? O.o
That dragon is so ugly, I doubt CLAMP would draw such an ugly dragon.
Right, so Sorata is officially a Tsubasa regular… I think he had more lines than Yuuko herself through the whole series. He showed up at Hanshin, Koryo, Piffle, This one here, and he’s set to show up later in the X world. Phew…
I think they forgot that Hanshin also had TWO feathers ¬¬
So, the proposal of this world was to fix up a mistake that BeeTrain did in Season 1 by reviving the dead people in episode 26. Later, on Shurano, we see that that is impossible, even Ashura says so. However, maybe it wasn’t a mistake and everything was planned in advance. It feels like they were fixing a mistake, though.
They repeat over and over again that there’s no way to revive those who once died. And they made sure to make wise characters to say so: the old guy, the god, Clow and Fei Wang. In fact, I was very happy that they used Clow to pass such message, it was a good call. And the Sand Bunny creature dying was just, aw, so sad ;_;
But as I said, maybe it wasn’t a mistake and maybe they planned it so that this episode would be ANGST, because it was ! The whole Sorata and Arashi thing was so pretty, it’s among the things that made me like this episode.
First, he died for her ! He’s destined, there’s no way around !
Second, she died just after ! And she didn’t tell him after they got back to life, so he wanted the feather no matter what so that he would be able to live with her, awww ;_;
Third, they both are already dead, and they depart together, and they say beautiful words to each other.
Long-life to Sorashi ! \o/\o/\o/ I applaud BeeTrain here for seeing right through one of my favorite couples (I bet the scriptwriter reads X XDDD).
Finishing, we have Fei Wang and Xing Huo saying that things turned out according to expected. Is “getting the feather back” also a part of according to expected? O.o Also, didn’t it seemed like they were “helping” them? Making them go to this world to “realize” certain things? I think so…
The animation was excellent, for Tsubasa, and much better than the previous one, which is good, of course, but I hope the episodes faithful to the manga will be just as good.
Good points:
– Good episode despite the fact that it was completely original.
– Good animation.
– Yuuko.
– All the Sorashi.
– All the angst.
Bad points:
– Ugly dragon ! *points* XDDDDDDDDD

In fact, I don´t watch Tsubasa since episode 8 (1st season). I´ve downloaded and recorded all of them, but I´m waiting for a moment I´m very patient, because I got very disappointed with the series.
I download it every week even though I´m not watching them. Once I start, I´ll make comments, I promise.
xxxHOLic and Utena (crazy anime…. loved it since I was 16 ^^ I used to translate the manga for Shinken but I dropped it when I got a job…) have had all my attention lately…

Yes, that´s why I never post on Tsubasa reviews…
Shinken? Yes, those were wonderful times, I didn´t have to work and I could edit and translate all day. I still remember that an entire volume was lost because I had a computer bug-virus (I used to put the chapters in a ftp server so that the webmistress could go there and get them) and the server used to delete the chapters, and Kelly-sempai (the webmistress) never managed to get them before they were deleted.
Nobody will ever read that volume probably. Utena´s been freezed since then. There´s another group that´s starting the project, but I haven´t seen any chapters so far (months in fact….). Actually, they´ve just announced it as far as I know.
I still hope they publish it in Brazil one day. One of the FEW non-CLAMP things I admire, in fact.
About the articles, I don´t know when I´ll be writing them. July vacation probably. Work/College/Spanish Classes/Philisophy Studies on Weekends/My friends (Yes, I have a social life)/My mother/Tests/Projects/Termpapers take most of my time…… *give me back my time, freaks!!!* But I assure you excellent quality! After a discussion I had with a boy (dumb…) on “CLAMP Brasil” Orkut community, I noticed I have a thing or two to teach people about CLAMP. Let´s see what happens. I´m not aiming the internet or something cause I don´t have the patience for websites. I was planning something like an “article corner” or so. A place where I could write some nice articles about CLAMP every one or two weeks. “Anime Pró” maybe…. XDDDDDDDDD
About Tsubasa, as soon as I catch up I´ll post something.

That was completely disappointing… But I´d prefer to write my articles in Portuguese though… I love writing in Portuguese, although that freaking language made me quit my Languages course… I´ll consider writing in English. I find it odd that Maaya Sakamoto didn’t do a good job in Tsubasa but (at least in my opinion) is great in Ouran HS…

Is her character in Ouran HS a crazy fangirl like Tomoyo? Or maybe more serene and calm? Because that’s the perfect kind of character for Maaya, the calm ones. She’s great, surely, but Tomoyo isn’t really her nicest performance.

Actually, she doesn’t even sound like Tomoyo at all. It’s one of those “WTF she’s voiced by who? but she doesn’t sound like that seiyuu!” cases.

X3 nice to read one of yer reviews…lol the first one was a bit harsh, but believe me XD you are totally right as I see it…the animation was weird, because of the faces all looking all that weird @_@ seriously I couldn’t watch ’em without thinking they looked bad @_@;;;;;. I liked too the scene of kyle, lol I laughed so hard lol when kyle appeared with the “boom” XD hahahaha because of tomoyo, sakura and mokona who were laughing at the moment lol. Oh yeah! totally true!, tomoyo looked much cooler with the gun in the manga XD. I didn’t like that episode till kyle showed up being all cool XD. Wonder when will see him again? °.°….
about episode 4 or 30 XD, I liked it pretty much…yepz beetrain is being lazy XD or has not enough imagination, because yuuko is always outside of her store @_@;;;.and it wasn’t yer imagination, indeed sakura’s feather signals where blue o.o;;;;; O_o;;;; XD lol. At first I thought too, beetrain had made a mistake with that of reviving people and they were fixining it now…because that seems so XD lol, but maybe is true and it was on their plans XP. The angst was just great, I wanted to cry ;_____;….I liked pretty much they put clow X3. Still haven’t watched these, but I want to say something. Personally, the amount of OOC Sorashi fluff is getting on my nerves. This is too AU shipping fanfiction for my taste, and they’re making me dislike Sorashi in Tsubasa in general. We get it, Bee Train, you like Tomoyo and Sorashi. Can we just MOVE ALONG to other characters (*) and pairings? Thank you.
(*) No, a chibi Fujitaka isn’t a good choice either, no matter what the weed told you.

As I said to Minaya-san, I only forgive them because it was the prettiest Soarashi of all (deaths involved *-*). But truly, I think it’s too much of Sorashi indeed. It’s the same with the fat guy of Hanshin, ENOUGH ! XD

Dunno, from the character design and facial expression, he doesn’t really *look* like Fujitaka would be in his childhood. To start with, the face is too serious, and the eyes are all wrong (because as I said to , he’d never have big doe eyes but narrow ones. Like Eriol’s. Remember Eriol? He looks like a random OC kid modeled after Syaoran and Yukito.

Eriol’s eyes were slightly smaller than the average Tomoeda kids. Particularly in manga, but in anime they still were smaller.

Episode 3 has been the WORST so far. I mean, maybe it is very unfair of me to compare it so harshly with the manga, but I mean, it didn’t even have the slightest sort of feeling you got with the manga chapter. It was so rushed and squished into so few episodes that it was just like DAMN WHEN IS IT OVER T_T I watched this episode with my mom and she is like “Why is that guy disappearing into a giant vagina?” when Kyle left. I was about to die laughing. They really did screw Piffle up.
And about the movies comment Kurogane made… well, I am not sure if it was a Live-Evil mistake, but there is a possibility that they did watch movies in some worlds, I mean, in one of the omakes they do mention DVDs and then there is Kurogane’s whole Maganyan obsession, ahhaha. So while I don’t know if it is a mistake or not, I am just thinking that ig *might* be possible. Heh.
When I heard they went back to that filler world which I had originally found so lame, I was like “Oh boy, here we go, another sucky episode.” The only reason I ended up really liking episode 4 is because of the Sorata and Arashi stuff. I am such a sucker for them, they are great together and as long as they’re all love-love, I’m all for it. I was almost crying by the end because it was really pretty, and it was sad and happy at the same time, like Sorata says.
Seeing the preview for next week’s episode, I don’t know if I should be scared or not. Fujitaka looks like an alien baby T_T

Oh yeah, of season 2. I can think of a lot worse ones in Season 1, which makes me sad.
Nope, it was a different omake. I am not sure which volume it is in, but it is one where Mokona is a detective. This is the part I was talking about, and in previous frames there’s a TV and DVDs lying on the ground:

Where is the drunk scene? TT__TT And the lovey scene between Tomoyo and Sakura??? In manga, Sakura asked Tomoyo “Do you let me win on purpose?” Tomoyo said “No, I only put the traps. You won by yourself, Sakura” In anime, Tomoyou said Kurogane “I want to let Sakura win” -___- (lame plot) And Sakura fell asleep, no waking after that. No drunk scene.
AND MOREOVER where is the scene Kurogane staring Fye said “It’s look like you’ve changed too” ?? Why did they cut it?? I always wait to hear this and see the reaction in Fye’s face? But they cut it TT__TT Only 1 sentence, before Kyle made the BUM BUM. D*mn BT >.<
The scene between Kurotan and Tomoyo isn't romantic like in manga.

Truly! WTH the get that ugly thing? It's uglier than the dragons in X anime. It looks fat, slow and stupid, no scary even a little.
Sorata is being love to appear because he was easy to draw and easy to put in everywhere.
But I don't like the idea coming back to the world they already pass. Really lame.

The only thing I love is all about Clow, bunny and Sorata's love. So I forgive all the lame scenes.
Next ep 5 : The chibi-Fujitaka and The Sea. It's not a bad idea. But I hope they don't turn too ridiculus.

I didn’t even mention that because it’s bound to be cut since Tsubasa is being aired on educational NHK, so, in other words, forget about drunk scenes (unfortunately, yes, but it’s not going to happen).

I heven’t seen these eps yet so I can’t say enything about them really. But your review on ep.3 made me scared -.- I HATE badly drawn anime and poorly made action! I’m not sure if I want to see that ep now but it has Inada Tetsu-sama so I have to watch it -.-

The animation is nothing compared to that cursed episode 2 of season 1, but still, sometimes we see the faces are a -little- weird. It’s the worst one so far of season 2.

I generally think the same as all of you, about the episodes 29-30…and for godness sake! every time there *should* be a drinking scene, they always cut it off!!! 😦 Anyway, all the Syao/Ryuoh part is getting on my nerve too! I understand that Syaoran has very few friends and all…but hell!! They really did too much!! Now…about the preview with Fujitaka as a kid, I have to say that I’m kinda looking forward to it, and that I found him totally cute ^_^ I just hope they screwed up Piffle World for a REALLY good reason, for example : they are working like hell with the Ashura part, RIGHT? Because if they destroy the Ashura part, I feel like I might only read the manga and forget about the anime…

Well, it really depend if you like Mizushima Yuu’s interpretation of Clow.
I can’t help it, I cry everytime Clow talk in tsubasa, Mizushima is so lame compare to Hayashi Kazuo’s Clow (the one from CCS), the CCS one sounds serene, compassionate and wise, the tsubasa one sounds hasty, a bit impatient and somehow reproving.

I only got a chance to watch these last night. As usual, I agree with you on almost all points. Piffle did seem totally rushed. Probably because they had to cut out all the scenes with them drinking. Most of the manga arc of Piffle was either action scenes or drunken parties- and we know we can’t have drinking on a kids network. (From a country that sells booze in vending machines. BOO! HISS!) It bothers me that they didn’t bother to explain in the manga where they got all the cash to rent a place out- and likewise the anime glosses over this as well. Did sakura win a scratch ticket lotto or something? That’s going to bother me till the end of time, I swear…
Yeah, the animation was totally fucked up… very pointy.
Episode #4… wow was Feiwang pissed at the end of that episode. Seems he doesn’t like that whole ‘can’t bring the dead back to life’ outcome does he? Gee… wonder why? So, I gotta ask… who is it Fei-wang wants to bring back to life? Clow?
While everyone else is freaking out over Fujitaka next episode my mind is… elsewhere.

Indeed that’s what it seems o.o Before the latest chapters, I always thought he wanted to bring the Dark-Syaoran back to life… but apparently, he IS alive. So… I have no idea who he wants to revive.

The animation for #3 was really odd, there are many times when a character is talking with someone but seems to be looking to some EMPTY SPACE.
I liked #4, it really felt like “oh no we messed up on 26, let’s fix it” XD but i liked it anyway. (though 26 it’s still messed up with Kurogane being able to see the Fei Wong symbol on the soldiers with no reaction)
I didn’t notice that the kid on the preview was chibifujitaka… I am so ahm distraído (forgot the translation XD)
And a great coincidence just happened (cue to Mizuki and Yuuko’s line), I read you talking with tuxedo_flyer about Orkut up there and I found you there (not stalker, just curious, sorry XDDD). In your scraps, I saw some comments from I guy from I just received a message about a topic on the Tsubasa community, and then realized that he was tuxedo_flyer XDDD

I haven’t watched episode 4 yet (it’s still loading… -___- I have a slow connection, so sue me) but I watched episode 3 and I agree with you all the way… this episode suck so bad!
Sakura just looks so weird… and when Kurogane got knocked and was talking to Sakura I was expecting him to be more passionate but he was like, “Oh, just go already…” >___< sore ja!

hehe i always look forward to reading your reviews chibiyuuto!! unfortnately i stopped watching tsubasa at episode 1 season 1 [dial-up + many bad reviews -.-] but your reviews have kinda made me interested in trying to start i tup again…hmm but wondering if i should actually go and get all of season 1 first or just skip to season 2…..

The feather WAS blue. But about the two feathers in Hanshin… that’s not completely true, if I remember correctly! The very first feather had already been there (at Syaoran’s clothes). It stuck there from Clow Country on and I think it doesn’t count as a “Hanshin feather”, does it? *tilts head*
I loved Yuuko in this episode (btw… I’m missing the second “u” here. >.>)! She looked great – especially her eyes. On her former appereances, I always feared she would fall asleep while talking. o.o” This time her eyes, boobs, clothes, hairdo, – everything – looked great. ^^ I’d say she looked even better than in the movie. *nods*
I rolled my eyes as soon as Sorata appeared. I mean… I like him, but in Tsubasa(Anime) he’s going on my nerves, just like every version of Tomoyo. There are too much of them! Someone – clean up the worlds before the group arrives!
I hoped for a serious conversation between Fye and Kurogane here, but nothing happened. After the first four episodes I think they’re cutting off all Fye scenes. Am I imagening things? But the little scene at the fire (?) was just brilliant. As Fye raised his hand I got into wild imaginations of him shouting “Sensei!” again and again. Did I say I’m imagening things already? XD
Last: I can’t wait for the next episode… Child!Fujitaka was unbelieveable cute X3 and Sailor!Fye is killing me. XD
And now… I’m going to light a candle for that sand bunny… ;-; It was sooo cute… come on, someone, revive it! I don’t care if that’s not possible! >.< Revive it! Revive it! Reviiiive it! …I'm paying with the fat guy(s)!
