Another double title page this month! And what a lovely one, on top of it, showing our lunar-based magicians. I wonder if we will get a sun one — but then again, who would feature in it? I know there is Kerberus and Spinel buuuut…

So the business with Sakura getting shrunk is over — which is good since it took longer that I would have wanted. Sakura shows the REPAIR card to Tomoyo, which looks just like her, and Tomoyo seems surprised. She asks Sakura to let her handle any damages that may occur to costumes made by her, and that’s very noble and adorable of Tomoyo, but it caught my attention how many pages and frames CLAMP used for it. It seems like it will be important later on.

A parents’ day! It seems appropriate, given that we’ve never had this amount of parents/guardians in Card Captor Sakura before. What a fun idea to put them all together, and personally I love any excuse to see Fujitaka and Sonomi interaction.

I love how best dad Fujitaka seems very enthusiastic about going to Sakura’s school, and even Sonomi made it even though she is always really busy (still no sight of Tomoyo’s father, huh?).

Correct me if I’m wrong but I think it’s the first time that we got the confirmation that Akiho’s parents passed away right after she was born? That explains why the clan did what they did to her, because her parents weren’t around. I really can’t remember if this was already revealed before.

Sakura is such a dear, making Akiho feel comfortable. Sakura you are a ROLE MODEL!

The music teacher is… handsome? He has cool hair. But then again, does CLAMP ever draw anyone ugly?

Kaito arrives and Fujitaka seems to know his presence, somehow? To the point where he is taken by surprise when everyone starts clapping, he was clearly distracted. While Sonomi seemed clueless about Kaito’s arrival. It’s curious to learn that Fujitaka could have been an even better vessel for the forbidden magic, according to Kaito. I bet no one ever thought of him that way.

Everyone’s parents/guardians look so PRETTYYYYY.

Kaito is about to make mischief again when oh-oh, Nadeshiko makes a surprise appearance! You didn’t think she would miss such an important even such as parents’ day, did you? Kaito seems LEGIT surprised, busted, caught in the act!

Will she know about him? I am very curious to what she will tell him!

  1. The title page is so fancy! ^__^
There’s a lot of details and work in this drawing. Is it the first time we see Kaito’s staff in color?
As for a sun picture, do we know Nadeshiko and Touya’s magic nature? If they are not sun, maybe Akiho’s mother?

No announcement for a new TV series, I wonder whether the manga series will be longer than I expected or they will end the anime stories with OVAs in the last few Tankoubon or movies… For the first clear card series, they announced the start for January 2018 in January 2017. Or maybe there will just be no more anime, although the ending will stay a messy cliffhanger. Well, let’s wait and see, there’s nothing else we can do anyway.

So, we never got to know what Yukito and Nakuru were doing at Mitsumine shrine… Maybe we will get a flashback for it afterwards. Also, we didn’t get a comment from Kaito about the new card, not that he comments every time, but he sure did for the last two…

Overall, it’s a slow paced chapter, with a few fun scenes, like Fujitaka adsolutely delighted to have found something he could do at last. xD But there are also more serious stuff going on, like Kaito meeting Fujitaka. Is he thinking to transfer the device in his body if Akiho fails? Whatever he has in mind, Nadeshiko doesn’t want it to go that way. Does she know Kaito? He entered the house at least once, she surely didn’t miss that. Plus the magic Trojan horses he send via Akiho, she probably know his magical signature quite well by now. We may be about to know how powerful she is and what kind of magical tradition she was taught (probably by her grand-mother).

    • Indeed we never got to see what Yukito and Nakuru did at the Tsukimine Shrine. But we’ll definitely find out, one way or another =)

He entered the house at least once, she surely didn’t miss that
He entered in Sakura’s house? My memory is FAILING me now.

As for the TV show, maybe they don’t want to announce it in too much advance. Everything is decided (staff and cast) so there would be little news to share until the actual premiere. We’ll see, but it feels weird to leave it unfinished like that.

      • Kaito came over on chapter 14, to take Akiho after she felt asleep in Sakura’s house due to SNOOZE. If he’s not inside, he’s just centimeters from the open door in the recess under Sakura’s bedroom. ^_~ Not to mention that time Akiho “broke” while in the library and Sakura had to rush out of the house. Even if she didn’t show up, she could be aware of what happen. Do time magic works on ghost?

As for the TV series, we’ll see. At least, they will sell a series compilation with the 22 first episodes for April, it could be sign we will get a new season this spring.

  2. CLAMP gave us an amazing Christmas present, eh? This was a good chapter all around!

The scene with Tomoyo and REPAIR caught my attention, too. Part of me thinks it was meant to make up for Tomoyo’s lack of reaction to the revelation about Sakura making the Clear Cards (that whole chapter felt rushed). Tomoyo also seems to be gently reminding the readers that she’s still relevant to Sakura’s magical life and proud of it.

In the longterm, this might be another sign that we’re not supposed to think of the Clear Cards as “people” (like the Clow Cards), but rather as “tools.” FLIGHT is obviously the one exception, but I’ve joked to Cinzia on the Discord server that FLIGHT would be a great candidate for CCS’s first tragic death, should Sakura have to give up or destroy the Clear Carda somehow. 😅

Correct me if I’m wrong but I think it’s the first time that we got the confirmation that Akiho’s parents passed away right after she was born?

Akiho’s first flashback story in the beginning of Vol. 6 very briefly mentioned that her parents “had already passed on” by the time she was a toddler, so yes, this is the first confirmation that they died right after she was born.

That’s kind of weird, isn’t it? If a young, healthy couple passed away at the same time, you’d assume they died in an accident or something, right? Why didn’t Akiho’s mom see it coming?

Sakura stepping up as almost a sister to Akiho was touching. Fujitaka and Sonomi were great in how quickly they welcomed Akiho, too. (Meanwhile, the poor kid had been wandering around alone while frantically searching for Kaito in the crowd. Even as Kaito is getting more desperate to save Akiho, his treatment of her emotional health is becoming worse and worse.)

It’s curious to learn that Fujitaka could have been an even better vessel for the forbidden magic, according to Kaito. I bet no one ever thought of him that way.

That was so creepy, speculating about Sakura’s father that way while standing only a few feet away from him. 😬 The fact that Kaito can’t sense Fujitaka’s magic is a big revelation—has Nadeshiko been protecting him the same way she had protected the Clow Book from detection for all those years? (I’m assuming it was her, ahaha.) Fujitaka might end up being Eriol’s secret weapon in whatever plan he’s cooking up.

Here’s hoping Nadeshiko draws out either some information or some shame from Kaito next month!

    • So sorry for the late reply, Pan! Got caught up in the holidays…

Part of me thinks it was meant to make up for Tomoyo’s lack of reaction to the revelation about Sakura making the Clear Cards (that whole chapter felt rushed).
That’s true, we sometimes miss out just how much the other characters know about what’s going on since everything is almost from Sakura’s perspective.

They do seem to have less personality than the Clow cards. Indeed FLIGHT is an exception.

so yes, this is the first confirmation that they died right after she was born.
Thanks for the confirmation. I guess it makes sense because I just couldn’t believe them as parents allowing the clans to do everything they did to Akiho.

That’s kind of weird, isn’t it? If a young, healthy couple passed away at the same time, you’d assume they died in an accident or something, right? Why didn’t Akiho’s mom see it coming?
Their seemingly deaths are really fishy, indeed. They seem to have been powerful wizards, so it’s strange that they would both pass away at the same time. I’d say there’s more to it.

Even as Kaito is getting more desperate to save Akiho, his treatment of her emotional health is becoming worse and worse.
To me it felt like he wanted to go more so that he could see Fujitaka and goof around Sakura than for Akiho herself. Poor Akiho ^^”

  3. kinda out of topic , but I am really missed the watercolor style of Mokona sensei ;w;;;……….
Recently, they colored by Copic much (or always), sometimes it was fabulous and sometimes i thought it was so plain…
It makes me remind of X…….when they still colored with watercolor and it was so gorgeous *infinity of gorgeous*.
// it doesn’t mean that their colors weren’t good, but somehow I miss our old days….

Ok, turn back to our topic,
After I read recent chapters, everything that happens to Akiho reminds me of her mother like her appearances, the travelling to gether with her most important person , or about the one they love doesn’t like Chocomint….

is it possible that Akiho is the reincarnation of her mother?

    • The tools CLAMP use varies from work to work, but it is true that for the past decade they been almost solely with copic markers and while they do a great job with it, I also would like to see them varying their artstyle. But for that, they need to finish CCS and work on something new or pick up one of their other series that’s paused. They hardly change materials once they have settled them for a series. X being an exception where they clearly tried a lot of different drawing materials (which is why X’s art is so damn great!).

That’s a really nice parallel you raised there with Akiho’s mother!
