CLAMP 30th Anniversary special site launched (Updated)

© CLAMP・Shigatsu Tsuitachi CO.,LTD.

With only a few days before the end of 2019, CLAMP and Kodansha surprise us all with the launch of a CLAMP 30th Anniversary special site!

The website is called CLAMP-FANS and its address is https://clamp-fans.com/

The website is maintained by Kodansha and it’s meant to distribute information for CLAMP fans all around the world. Therefore, the website is available in 6 languages: Japanese, Chinese, English, French, Spanish and Portuguese (so happy about this latter!).

The following news was posted on the website:

CLAMP 30th Anniversary Projects, scheduled to be updated regularly!

CLAMP’s 30th Anniversary Projects and related information will be uploaded on this website.
In addition, the content on this site will increase, including a shopping site, where you can purchase special CLAMP goods, and Kero-chan’s photo diary.
We will make it a site that CLAMP fans all over the world can enjoy, so stay tuned.

To kick things off, the latest chapter of Card Captor Sakura Clear Card arc, Chapter 40, is already available to be read in all 6 languages at CLAMP’s official YouTube channel!

I can’t even begin to process just how AMAZING this is. Not only we’re finally getting ourselves a proper 30th Anniversary project (thank you, Kodansha!), but also the international fans are being included! ♡ Being able to legally read a new chapter of a CLAMP manga on the same day — or in this case, even before the release date in Japan — was unthinkable until now! This is truly an amazing Christmas miracle/gift.

I am looking very much forward to the other contents to be added to CLAMP-FANS! ♡

Thank you so much CLAMP and Kodansha for including us, fans that don’t reside in Japan.

Update: The Clear Card chapters will be available on YouTube in all 6 languages every month 2 days prior to the release of Nakayoshi. This is a measure Kodansha is taking to fight against piracy and an acknowledgement of CLAMP’s international readership. More languages expected to be added in the future.

  1. It IS amazing, isn’t it??!!!
I woke up 2 hours ago at 2h30AM, wondering what in the hell was I doing with my eyes opened at this time, but seems like my CLAMP detector felt something huge was happening online HAHAHAHA
This is big big big news! And right when I had given up on seeing anything done for CLAMP’s 30 Anniversary!
And yes, SIX languages!!! This IS AWESOME and the first time they’ve gone out of their way to do this as far as I remember 😀
HAHAHAHA an online store, an online store (yes, twice), -look sideways guiltily at wallet- -coughcough- calls out loudly: “wwooaaahhh!! I am so surprised, new goods! Who would have thought?” -looks back at wallet again-
I am in negotiations right now as you can see but I should be able to get something out and collect some merch XD XD

    • It truly is AMAZING! I was about to go to bed myself but I saw it just before doing it, thankfully xD

      Best Christmas gift!

It feels really great to be *seen* by CLAMP like this ♡

I hope the shop will deliver internationally as well!

  2. This is amazing! after I already think that they will leave their 30th anniversary with only LINE sticker (LOL)

What makes me happy the most is that I have a new pic of Kamui!!! (I really needed some new pics of him for entire year….)
and he got quite big area for him! oh no CLAMP makes me high hope……*crying*
I feel relieve to see that they can draw Kamui so pretty like 2 decades ago *cry again*
(Sorry for still being X fangirl………….)

Unfortunately, GATE 7 disappeared from this cross-over illustration….
Do you have any ideas for how? since some of their series which still on hiatus can make appearances…
[or does that mean CLAMP seperates from Shueisha already?]

I don’t like Clamp’s computer coloring much ….. but this one is acceptable for me……

furthermore, this site belongs to Kodansha, does that mean they will release only something about Kodansha?? if it’ll be like that i quite disappointed since I am not a fan for Sakura….

Thank you for having me scream XD I really love your work at this site!

    • I was sooooo happy with the Kamui picture too! Clearly the focus was on Kodansha’s works, since this is being held by Kodansha, but I love the fact that CLAMP didn’t leave out X and gave Kamui quite a big spot.

I noticed GATE 7’s absence too =( it is sad… I don’t have an official status for the relationship between CLAMP and Shueisha, but rumor has it that they might have been through disagreements, which led to GATE 7’s hiatus.

I noticed the improvement as well. Nekoi has recently started working with a new colouring software, Adobe Fresco, and I think that must have something to do with it 😉

No, I don’t think so. If you remember, CLAMP No Kiseki was a Kodansha project and it covered all CLAMP’s catalog. ALL ABOUT CLAMP was a Kadokawa book but it had Kodansha works too.

Thank you for having me scream XD I really love your work at this site!
      I’m so happy! Thank you!!

      • I wonder why they had a problem with GATE 7 since i’ve heard that it sold quite well………
or was it not so popular among readers?
// I’m not sure to say about this…… but even me who has read many works of CLAMP still feel very weird for this serie and didn’t like much….I have no problem about Japanese history people but still….

        • I don’t know what happened there, either… Japanese people seem to dig Japanese history-themed stories a LOT, specially these days. Again, rumor has it that there were disagreements between CLAMP and Shueisha, but these are nothing but rumours.

  3. What a wonderful Christmas surprise! It seemed so sad that CLAMP’s 30th anniversary was slipping away with next to no celebration, so I’m glad Kodansha is doing this. The international focus is incredible, too.

Here’s hoping the site gets even better from here on out! (Maybe we’ll get an artbook that really celebrates what CLAMP has done since 2005, ahaha.)

    • In Brazil there is a saying that goes “when the lights are switched off”, meaning something is done at the very last minute (like when you are about to leave the house, the last thing you do is turn off the lights). It really was at the very last minute of 2019, and it seems like the celebrations will carry over to 2020. Very exciting.

Agreed on the international focus. It is great to feel seen.

Fingers crossed for artbooks and bold projects like CLAMP No Kiseki.

  4. I’m so happy to see Tokyo Babylon, X, CLOVER and Chobits here!!! 😍 I’m thrilled that Subaru got a nice place here and didn’t been too small, I believe CLAMP shows some love for him here and same to Kamui. Misaki chan from Angelic Layer looked a bit different here but still cute to me. And I also agree that I don’t like CLAMP’s computer colored technique but this one worked for me. I guess it’s just too happy to see they make a spacial site for the international fans. ❤️

  5. I saw the new site a few days ago, I’m delighted with the entire concept. ^__^
Nice to see they do the site in French! I’m curious why Korean isn’t among the choices, maybe it will come.

Looking in the News and Topics section, I see the Blood-C compilation is there. It may be the first in the longer series of compilation announcement. XxxHolic and Tsubasa TV series still don’t have Blu-ray version yet. So do X and Clamp Gakuen Tanteidan at Kadokawa. Not to mention the old OVA and music clips. Maybe this time around we will even get Tokyo Babylon 1999 in a better format than VHS, after 27 years.

They could also used the occasion to make new versions of some series. Chobits is still only available in the original 8 tankoubon, so are Tsubasa and xxxHolic. At Kadokawa, Kobato, Suki Dakara Suki and X never got new editions either.

Not to mention, aren’t we due for a leftover omnibus artbook series again? Angelic Layer was never present in an artbook, there are art never published in a artbook for every series except Shin Shunkaden and Shirahime.

But let’s get to the wild speculation part with the art piece. First, we see Sakura which is in the main gear, as the protagonist of the only ongoing series. Then Watanuki and Xiaolang, from xxxHolic and Tsubasa. I like that the drawing style is different depending on how the original series is drawn. And I guess the three of them represent both the old and the new series of their respective title. Then Xiaolang from ccs… is it to put even more emphasis on the only ongoing series, or is he filling the empty gear for Gate 7? … Then we have X and Tokyo Babylon, with Kamui and Subaru, big title of publishers other than Kodansha who is hosting the site. On smaller gears, Magic Knight Rayearth, Angelic Layer, Clover, Kobato, Rg Veda and Chobits. Then the fugu fish which represent the Clamp Gakuen series and Kohaku which probably represent Wish, Gouhou Drug & Drop and Suki Dakara Suki. That would only left out Miyuki-chan, Shirahime and Shin Shunkaden, beside Gate 7, probably too minor to give them a gear (I don’t count Watashi no Suki na Hito as the series doesn’t make it to neither Clamp in Wonderlands). Or maybe it’s because these one book series will not get stuff in the 30 years anniversary?

Anyway, I guess we can take for granted that 2020 is not the years we will see the continuation of Gate 7. But those for X and Clover could be near after 20 years (Kamui and Sue are absolutely lovely on this picture, I want to see more of them).

On a final note, let me remind you there was 13 years between the two Clamp in Wonderland, and 2007 + 13 = 2020. Although there were 10 series in the first opus, 20 in the second, we are nowhere near 30 for the third. Since 2007, the only new series is Gate 7, if we count the new series of old works, we could add Tsubasa WC, xxxHolic Kei, Drug & Drop and CC Sakura Clear Card, which rise the count only to 5. They could make a Clamp in Wonderland anyway, or maybe they plan to start new series soon.

    • Loved the very detailed analysis of the illustration xD So full of hidden meanings.

Indeed it is curious Korean is not one of the languages. I didn’t notice myself but now that you mention it, it is weird…

Still waiting for a remastered version of the X movie too! I think it’s only a matter of time for Kodansha to re-release Chobits in a new version. Next year will be 20 years (wow) since its serialization so maybe. Kadokawa is probably waiting for X to be finished to re-release it in a glorious format. Kobato may be too recent and Suki might soon see a rerelease.

Fingers crossed for this 30th Anniversary to include some decent artbook — and not just reprint of already published illustrations.

I wouldn’t put my hopes high for CLOVER. CLAMP-NET now officially states it as “finished”, but I know you and you will never lose hope ^_~ I think 2020 CLAMP will still work only on Clear Card, which should be over by the end of the year. Then 2021 they might resume XXXHOLiC and work on something else too. 2022 will be X’s 30th Anniversary. Perfect timing for a revival. *wishful thinking af*

As for CLAMP IN WONDERLAND 3, it could be. We have enough time but as you said, not enough new works xD
