The fifth volume of Card Captor Sakura ~Clear Card arc~ remained solid at the 6th position in Oricon’s weekly ranking, with an estimate of 51,121 copies sold in its second week of sales. It has sold an estimate of 192,699 copies after two weeks on sale. That is slightly less than the 199,381 copies sold achieved by volume 4 after two weeks.

The above numbers are for the regular edition, only. Sale numbers for the Special Edition (Nendoroid Puchi) are unknown.

While it’s good news that it remained solid at the 6th place, I can’t help but notice that this are the lowest second week sales and lowest accumulated sales after two weeks for the entire Clear Card series. Sure enough, these are only for regular edition, but these are the parameters that we are working with.

It is worth mentioning that Oricon only takes into account a certain number of shops. These numbers are only an estimate and it’s possible that the real figures are higher than these.

  1. Long time, no comment, Alex! I hope you’re doing well.

I wonder if part of the reason sales have dropped so much is scarcity? I’m living in Sapporo now, and Vol. 5 has been pretty hard to find on shelves (whether in major bookstores or even the comics sections in convenience stores). CCS goods in general likewise don’t seem to be that common compared to industry giants like *Precure,* *One Piece,* etc.

The fact that the show has ended with no clear schedule for a second season can’t be helping, either. The train stamp rallies and the upcoming CCS exhibit seem like good ideas for rallying fan interest in the meantime, but for the most part, they’re specific to Tokyo, right? I think 6th place is pretty good in this case!

Also, did you see the news? https://natalie.mu/comic/news/300566

Hummm it could be, but I’m not sure, since if there is demand, the publisher would print more copies. I think it might be a little hard for us to admit but sales could be declining.

The limited edition was a success though, with being sold out and everything =)

And yes, as you already saw it, I did see the great news about the new artbook! Thanks for letting me know =)
