CLAMP will be in charge of the character design concept for the TV Anime adaptation of Yuuri Eda’s light novel series Kabukibu!
The series revolves around Kurogo Kurusu, a high school student who loves kabuki so much that it’s annoying. Kurogo yearns to perform kabuki as part of a club at his school, but currently his school doesn’t have a kabuki club. So Kurogo sets out to create a kabuki club, and his first order of business is to gather members. (ANN)
The series is published by Kadokawa and the 5th volume will be released on November 25.
The TV Anime series will be animated by Studio Deen and is scheduled to start broadcast on TBS in April 2017.
A clean, text-less version of the key visual by CLAMP can be seen here.

It looks so nice! I hope the anime will follow the color scheme of that promotional image — althought that looks more manga-ish than anime.
Looking forward to new CLAMP art for this!
When I saw the news at one of the sources I check the news, I was very happy to see that CLAMP is involved in the anime. I was thinking if I should follow the anime.

The book series seem to have quite a popular fandom. The news of CLAMP being in charge of the character design seem to have been taken very positively too. I might check out the anime if the animation will be something like that promotional illustration.

I don’t like the person who is in charge of anime-design. Her previous works are mediocre. Can’t imagine her converting Clamp’s design into anime version.

I am not familiar with the staff but I did some quick research and Studio Deen’s profile didn’t seem that great? What a bummer that the character designer doesn’t have the potential of handling CLAMP’s art u.u

They were cool in 80s-90s , but after they have been making popular crap like eroge-game and dating simulator adaptations and some other half-assed staff. Their most recent project that probably is the best they have done is Shōwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjū, but original character design is too specific that couldn’t been held in motion. Same thing here. This designer have worked on typical moe-projects. She has very lame style, so I can’t imagen how she is going to work it out.

They did Jigoku Shoujo, right? That’s the only one I’m familiar with.
And that’s terrible… it’ll be like BeeTrain all over again.

yes, they did. Also their other famous one is You’re Under Arrest. They have a couple projects that are well-made, but it’s depends on who are in the staff. Anyway I don’t think it will be uglier than Code Geass. I think only Mad Haus and I.G Studio can perfectly work on Clamp material the other studios need work really hard.
