The release date for XXXHOLiC Rei Chapter 53 has been postponed from September 5 to October 31.
Earlier in that same month, on October 6, XXXHOLiC Rei #4 will be released.

I know right… and they can’t even say it’s because of Tsubasa now… or is it? Maybe Tsubasa is coming back later in the year and we don’t know yet.

at least its still continuing instead of indefinite hiatus which i was afraid of happening after that brilliant cliff hanger. im looking forward to this new arc- if thats whats coming next. it sounds like a strong and exciting one with a sickly zashiki, and tjis dimensional witch. and we still have the dragons egg, doumeki egg and red pearl waiting in the wings. so there is definitely more plot devises to get this story rolling finally. im also looking forward to seeing a stronger and more forceful watanuki.

I have no idea how CLAMP’s editor(s) at Young Magazine are dealing with this strange publication schedule. They must have a good working relationship, since being forced to make up space for a 10 – 15 page series on such short notice has to be beyond frustrating.
My personal guess is that CLAMP is getting overwhelmed by the work they’re doing for Cardcaptor Sakura, and that project is higher priority than anything else right now. That’s bad enough news for folks who want to keep reading xxxHOLiC and TWC, but what I’m really disappointed about is the possibility that Gate 7 is most likely going to stay on ice for another two years while CLAMP finishes up CCS. It’s not like there isn’t any hope of it coming back, since Drug&Drop began serialization over eight years after Gohou Drug went on hiatus, but it’s saddening, you know? Gate 7 was such a promising idea back when CLAMP and Dark Horse announced that ambitious “mangettes” project, and now it’s stuck in limbo while we get sequels that — while appreciated! — weren’t really necessary in the first place.

yes to everything you said there panicle. i did think the delay was either tsubasa related or ccs. im leaning towards ccs forthe moment. it is their most successful manga globally, so they want to get it perfect. although i really i thought gate 7 would come back after nirai kanai ended since nirai kanai seemed to be a continuation of a background plot in gate 7, and where nirai kanai ended, created a nice flowing link for gate 7. i began thinking clamp were doing yet another sister manga to tsubasa what with the reincarnation theme with both. it was wishes with trc, now its reincarnation with twc. anyhoo i admit im loving all the the sequels, but it’d be great if clamp went on a mission of finishing up all the hiatus projects before starting anything new. i guess the sequels are a way of finishing up things too. ^^

I was hoping so, too! But we were all surprised by the announcement for the CCS sequel right after TWC went on hiatus. Like I wrote before, I appreciate the sequels, since TRC and xxxHOLiC both left plot threads hanging. (We didn’t need a sequel for CCS at all, but I’m enjoying the Clear Card arc so far, too.) I guess I’m just feeling pessimistic about the probability of Gate 7 continuing, since this CCS project is going to take a while, and goodness knows that the members of CLAMP are gradually losing their stamina as they get older.

the sequel or perhaps more correctly prequel im desperate to see is a whole manga series on clow reed and yuuko past. including the mokonas and kero/ yue. clow reed is definitely my favourite clamp character over all. i love deep/ mystery characters or ones that can be considered “grey” neither good/ bad. i think i would loose my voice for a year from the sqealing i would produce if this happens. or if not manga, then an animated series on this.

I would really like that, too! I’m not sure who the target audience would be, but CLAMP seems to be trying to muscle their way into seinen magazines (or magazines for older readers) more and more. Nanase Ohkawa released a Mokona Modoki picture book featuring Clow and Yuuko back in 2003 or so, and part of it was adapted for an xxxHOLiC audio drama a few years later — have you read the translations online?

is that the soel and larg book? ive seen the pictures but i wanna read it so bad!! but i cant read japanese. and i cant find translations anywhere. i did hear the lovely audio drama though. happily its been translated into english on youtube!! it was so bitter sweet. yuuko really loved clow and he just disappeared. it was so adorable when watanuki cheered her up the same way clow did. ❤

Yeah, I can read it! I actually own the book now, so I’m hoping to translate it and put it up in sections on my blog sometime in the future (since all the old English translations of the book from when it first came out are missing). My life is busy right now, so I’m not sure when I’ll have the time, but I’ll let Chibiyuuto know when I get started on it!

thats the target age group i was thinking cause those two seem delightfully dark at times. yue is an emotionally deep character too.
i wonder if clow and yuuko past would make a good live action… xxxholic was amazing as a live action. literally my only complaint with it was that watanuki actor was too wooden. but he was still good.

haha! i have thought this for ages but never actually commented on it. so i second that comment too. ^^ a while back i said clamp would benefit from chibiyuuto working with them cause of his always keeping up to date with his blog. he could help them with their hiatus comfort habit for sure xD the quality of story and art is as good as ever though. ^^
