Watanuki talks to Doumeki about the amber stone. Neko Musume makes an appearance (I love her and I have missed her).

Despite what was reported by AnimeNewsNetwork, this is not yet the final chapter of XXXHOLiC Rei, even though the series does seem to be reaching its climax. There was indeed an announcement from Young Magazine that the series is reaching its climax, so there is a chance that the next one should be the final one instead.

A low 8 pages for this chapter — 162 pages so far for volume 4. Next chapter will be out on June 27 and apparently there will be color pages.

  1. I’m somewhat glad that there will be at least one more arc to this. It was nice to see watanuki have a chance to shine and see the story actually going somewhere without getting tangled in with tsubasa. Although the linking is cleaver it’s nice to have a break from that and see the story and characters flow more. BUT… 8 pages!? Ah Geeze! It’s getting less and less. :s

    • Yeah, XXXHOLiC is often a “victim” of Tsubasa, despite the fact that lately it is selling more than Tsubasa.

      8 pages is such a torture, but CLAMP are lingering on purpose so that volume 4 comes out in August with TWC #3.

      • Still curious about that Professor. Just who is he and how did he get hold of that amber stone? I wonder if that’s relevant to the story at all…

        • Ccs sakuras dad? He was a professor in a Uni right? And since he’s partly clow reeds reincarnation he’d definitely be able to get a hold of something like that. Ties in nicely with ccs new manga starting. (complete spontaneous theory after seeing the manga previews) ^^

  3. Randomly, is there any news on gate7? I thought it might start up again after twc nirai kanai arc ended. Am I right in assuming that gate 7 is yet another link to tsubasa and holic? I enjoyed gate 7 apart from the looooonnng duologue.

    • Sadly, no news. CLAMP paused it because they were moving to Kyoto but they already moved in, are well-stablished there, and yet the manga is still on hiatus.

    • A card!? Like from ccs? I was guessing he might be sakuras dad, CZ he was a Uni professor and part clow reed. I’m really intrigued in this professor now!

      • That could make sense but don’t forget that XXXHOLiC right now is slightly more ahead in time than CCS. In CCS time, Yuuko is still the owner of the shop.

        • Haha! Oh right! Yeah I’ll second your guessing he/she will be a “card” or I’ve layed a guess on the table that it’s sakura dad. But I think I might have the tine line completely out of wack there. I’m really doubting if I’ll ever fully get to grips with holic/trc! I’ve already re-read them 3 times. @@
