I love how Watanuki is casually laying on a cherry tree, he looks so uncomfortable there, lol.
So Watanuki summons Ame Warashi in order to tell her that he has a temporary solution to protect Zashiki Warashi: the cage. Although Ame Warashi really wants the scarlet pearl (which was produced by the mermaid), however Watanuki tells her that the price would be too high for her to pay — I think the price would be never being able to see Zashiki Warashi again.
He tells her that the cage has traveled across dimensions and has acquired a protection power that is strong enough to keep Zashiki Warashi safe while Watanuki looks for another solution that is different from the scarlet pearl.
Hummm, this is getting interesting…
10 pages for this chapter — 144 pages so far for volume 4. It’s clearer and clearer now that volume 4 will come out in July along with Nirai Kanai hen #3. Next chapter will be out on May 9. The next one will be Chapter 50, I wonder if there will be any celebration?

Interesting… I remember something wasn’t done because of all the Tsubasa thing but forgot what it was. I didn’t even think about getting her hidden in the cage for protection.

There is also that amber stone with what looks like a dragon inside it that doumeki gave to watanuki to hold onto. Watanuki was saying it would go to some place when the time was right.

These chapters are just way too short for a monthly series! This amount of narrative stalling would be fine on a week-by-week basis, but the plot is basically in the same place as it’s been since October (Zashiki-warashi’s been captured, Ame-warashi wants to save her, Watanuki can’t give her the item she needs but will find another way). I was hoping that the cage would be a permanent solution to the Zashiki-warashi’s problem.

I thought it would be bi-weekly but we have another 1-month break this time u.u
I am hopeful that this will change once volume 4 is out, hoping that the pacing will get faster but I could be wrong and everything stays the same…

Yeah, I’m not sure what’s causing the slowdown now that TWC is off the table (for a while, at least). Is CLAMP just taking it easy? Are the CCS 20th Anniversary events taking up their time? Gate 7…?

Absolutely. Completely agree with you. It definately needs to be weekly, if not then with 20 pages minimum.
at the moment, watanuki is stuck inside the shop, and is only able to “leave” via dreams. So the action is all very much in one place, and it depends on who the customer is and what the problem is to make the plot move. I know doumeki and kohane help him but It would be cool to actually see watanuki have assistants who do errands and go on jobs for him, like what was done in legal drug before it was put on hiatus ^^; that would add more dynamic to the series and make watanuki more boss/badass.

Yeah pretty much. Lol 😏 They have already tried that format for watanuki in legal drug and i thought it worked well. It would make the story move more anyway.
I wonder if there is going to be more pages for chapter 50…
