The official website of Code Geass: Boukoku no Akito is now open: http://www.geass.jp/akito/
It is worth mentioning that the title Code Geass: Boukoku no Akito is still a tentative title.
Is it just me who thinks the designs don’t look very CLAMPy?
Oh yes it looks very CLAMPish. Perhaps I should read Code Geass.

Maybe it’s just me then xD

The Knightmare looks very Clampish indeed although it’s Yasuda Akira who is gredited as the knightmare designer. Anyway, it looks somewhat feminine, it’s probably the girl’s knightmare (I forgot her name, shame on me ^^;).

Layla/Leila is her name =)
I don’t think the character designs look CLAMPy. I mean, if I didn’t know this was CLAMP’s, I wouldn’t think “Oh, this looks a lot like CLAMP!”.

Sure the characters are less “omfg, it’s Syaoran!” and “omfg, it’s Kamui!”, but the girl is sure wearing a cross between Zero’s suit and Clamp school uniform. XP

No, it’s written on the site that Akito pilots it.

It’s CLAMPish when you turn it down to its base lines.
As in Code Geass I bet CLAMP sketched the characters but then someone else adapted their sketches for the tv (can’t remember his name). Only in CG first series they remained more faithful to CLAMP’s style so you get first glance it was CLAMP (with the second series they changed it a little bit… try comparing the two series and you note that, although the base is the same, there’s some changes) while here… well, they’re more faithful to the style of CG second series. In fact my impression is that this resemble more CG second series than CLAMP… but CG second series was still based on CLAMP’s draws… so, by default this remind me of CLAMP… only in a more subtle way. But I guess that’s what the authors were aiming at, to keep the general CLAMP style for clothes and hair but with the CG style of the second serie…
Hum… I hope it’ll make sense, I’m not good at expressing a feeling with words…

Yeah, my point is that it looks less CLAMPy than the previous designs, I think.
I’m sure CLAMP’s original sketches will look CLAMPy enough (for obvious reasons XD). I get the feeling the designs adaptations here were way too far from CLAMP’s designs, but that’s just my opinion =)

The only thing that looks very CLAMP to me is the girl’s super long hair *laughs*

Not so CLAMPish as the first main characters of CG but the style resembles so much to CG R2. Also comparing with the design of CG mangas, you can see CLAMP’s touch here ^_~ Maybe these details are more obvious on their clothes XD
