Kamigami no Utatane book release, Kobato. 2010 calendar

CLAMP-NET.COM updated today to include two news!

The first bit of news is that CLAMP will draw the cover for the book release of Kamigami no Utatane (神々の午睡（かみがみのうたたね）). The fantasy novel was written by Atsuko Asano and its chapters were serialized in Animedia magazine.

During its serialization, various artists were invited to draw illustrations for the novel, including CLAMP, who drew for the final two chapters. Those illustrations are also going to be included in the book release.

The novel was originally published in Animage under the title 神々たちの午睡, which I translated as Kamigami-tachi no Gosui. Apparently for the book release the title has been changed.

Yay for CLAMP being picked to draw the cover, out of all artists who have drawn for the book! =)

The 272-pages book will be released on September 29.

The second news is that Kobato. will have a 2010 calendar!

It will feature 13 illustrations, 12 previously released and 1 new illustration. It’ll be a desktop calendar, B5-sized with a special case.

Reservations will start on September 30 for a November 20 official release.

Very much looking forward to the new illustration =D But desktop calendar and B5 size sounds small =/

  1. Indeed, shame the calender won’t be full size, though i shall be ordering it. Hope cdjapan end up having the calender up for order on September 30th.

    As for Kamigami no Utatane, i’ve heard nothing but good things about it. Knowing that the illustration cover is by CLAMP makes me want to read it all the more. :3

  3. Kobato. is getting so much merchandise! It makes me giddy!

    I’m SO buying that calendar. And I have an eye on that figure, too. I’m not one for buying figures BUT I WANT THAT KOBATO FIGURE!!!

    B5 is about 3/4 A4 size. Not as big as the original illustrations in Newtype but certainly large enough to enjoy (and far better quality print).

    • I am SO SO glad you mentioned the Kobato. figure, as I had no idea it even existed! I just checked google out of curiosity (as I figured you didn’t mean the CLAMP in 3D Land one) and found such a lovely looking Kobato figure! ^__^ I’m so gona pre-order it! XD

    • I know, right? Kobato. is following the same steps as CCS xDDD

      B5 is the same size as the X 18.5 appendix that came with CLAMP Newtype Platinum, right? Yeah, it’s not small but a wall calendar would be better =/

    • I didn’t officially report it, I only changed the date in the CLAMP Widget that I have at the top of my LJ.

      I changed it to “To Be Announced”. We don’t have an official date anymore =/

  5. CLAMP-sama did a very nice job for illustrating the pictures for this novel. 😀 i think the illustrations look similar to RG Veda, but i’m actually interested in reading it!

    the calendar better not be small… 😦 i’m excited for the new illustration. i wonder what it could be… o.o

  6. I can’t wait to see the cover for Kamigami no Utatane, since CLAMP’s other illustrations for it were so beautiful. (I’m still hoping that Gate 7 turns out to be similar.) Do you know anything about the other artists who drew for the novel?

    • I don’t know anything about the other artists =/ I didn’t even know about this novel before CLAMP became involved =/ But I’m curious to check the other drawings too!

  7. It’s too bad that Kamigami no Utatane doesn’t get translated to English (yet). Else I would love to read it, especially since they are accompanied with Clamp’s illustrations. XDD Not to mention the genre is my favourite, FANTASY! ^^

    Oh Kobato calendar! XDD
    Well, smaller size will (hopefully) means it’s cheaper. *pray that it will be cheaper*

    I have the desktop B5 horitsuba gakuen. I swear this is not small at all ^w^
