CLOVER to be reprinted in new version

The NEWS BOARD section of CLAMP-NET.COM announced today that CLOVER will be re-released in deluxe editions.

Volumes 1 and 2 will come out in July 17th costing 1000 yens each.

No details were given about the specifications of this edition yet (probably hardcover and extra color pages).

That’s great news !! Although it’s normal for a CLAMP work to be re-released some time after their original release, not all of them gets deluxe editions (only CCS was worth enough, I think). And I can’t help but to get my hopes up that this can be a good opportunity for finally resuming the series (if that’s not what they are planning already).

It has to do well on sales so that Kodansha will show interest in publishing the remaining of CLOVER, they could release them directly into this new edition, there’s only 2 volumes left. Something worth mentioning is that the new edition is going out under the Nakayoshi label, the magazine where CCS and Rayearth were published but not CLOVER, since the magazine it used to run, Amie, got cancelled.

Fingers crossed everyone!

PS: Oh, and by the way, yesterday it’s been exact one year since the CLOVER DVD was released. Curious.

Darn, I love CLOVER art. To see more in colour would be *-*.

This would be a extremely excellent opportunity! *crosses all fingers, and toes too. xD*

Curious indeed, how very CLAMP-ish of them..

I seem to be stalking your journal(s) nowadays.. ^^” Gomen.

    • I know there is at least one CLOVER illustration I haven’t seen in a decent way. The one shot I have is a picture from Yahoo auctions and we can only see half of the page. If I were at home I would post the picture here, it shows Oruha’s breasts and the clover tattoo. That illustration hasn’t been published in any artbook.

We might get new art in the covers too, but I doubt it. The illustration will probably be different than the regular version, though.

And I love that you are stalking my journal. Stalk it away xD

    • Dark Horse will be releasing their omnibus edition of CLOVER by the end of the year, beginning of the next. Can you get hold of their materials in Mexico?

All 4 japanese volumes will probably be released by then, so the content might even be the same ^^

  3. I’m curious about the new covers and artwork, although I didn’t purchase the CCS volumes because I already have the regular ones and they keep coming out with stuff.

Clover with the Nakayoshi label is quite humorous, considering the type of manga.

    • I hope there will be new covers. New art is a bit difficult but not impossible considering it’s just 4 volumes. But I hope more than anything that this is foreshadowing the return of the manga.

      >Clover with the Nakayoshi label is quite humorous, considering the type of manga.

Totally, I thought it was an amusing detail xD

      • I’d rather have X being finished than Clover, specially considering that Clover’s archs go backwards. But if they continue it, you won’t hear any complains from me.

        • In my “love” scale I would have X’s end tomorrow and CLOVER’s end can wait xD But I think CLOVER’s case it’s a bit more complicated.

For X they say they’ll definitely draw it till the end.

For CLOVER they say they would love to be able to draw it till the end if they had the chance.

          • It’s kind of odd, considering the chronological choice for Clover when the end is supposed to take place.

As for X, we just have to grin and bear it. I’m quite curious as to what the new CLAMP works will be, I miss some CLAMP shoujo… 😦

Forgive my ignorance, but what do you mean? o.o

I need new CLAMP material as well, new delicious shoujos. It can distract me while I wait for X. But I feel like once TRC/XXXHOLiC are over, chances of X coming back are much higher.

              • Well, volumes 1 & 2 detail Suu’s travel, volume 3 is Oruha-centered and volume 4 is about Ran and the twin. So it’s going backwards and not forward. If this makes any sense.

I need closure, and considering that the X manga supposedly will have a different ending than the anime, I’m quite curious.

Definitely, I’m suffering from delicious CLAMP shoujo withdrawal.

                • I understand that but what does that have to do with the fact that they are not bringing it back?

                  >I need closure, and considering that the X manga supposedly will have a different ending than the anime, I’m quite curious.

Not supposedly, it most certainly WILL have ^_~ Ohkawa said it’ll be different from both the TV and the movie.

                  >Definitely, I’m suffering from delicious CLAMP shoujo withdrawal.

Hahahaha delicious CLAMP shoujo withdrawal. It’s such a terrible disease.

                  • Oh, I’m not saying they won’t bring it back, I just meant that it doesn’t follow a regular chronological timeline, so even if they go further back into the timeline, how do you know when the story ends.

Well, I’m glad she’s committed into making a different ending, considering how atrocious the movie ending was. Too bad that I figure that my favorite characters will die anyway… 😦

                    • I see. Yeah, that will be tricky thing. All we know is that volume 5 and 6 shall cover the story of the 2 leaf Clover, Gingetsu, but no idea where in the timeline the story will take place.

I loved the ending of X movie. It was great for that movie alone (imo). And yeah, I really don’t want to make you sad Eolo-kun, but your favorites are bound to die xDDDDDDDDDD it’s the natural course of things.

              • I hope you’re right. If nothing else, it’s got to be obvious to Asuka that the sales potential is still there. I routinely meet people who say they don’t have time to read manga anymore, but they still want to read the end of X.

                Like

                  • Yeah, definitely. I have to say though, it annoys me that Asuka didn’t give a damn about beheadings, dismemberments, etc in X practically from chapter 1, but oh, show some buildings falling and suddenly we have to cancel it! I’m oversimplifying somewhat, but compared with other manga content, I don’t find X particularly exceptional from the perspective of mayhem and destruction.

  4. yeah more Clover! that means I get new Japanese editions (I did just buy the regular editions, oh wells) and the omnibus.

i hope they write more Clover. I’m not as big a fan of X (honestly I only read it because I love Yuzuriha, Sorata and x.x oh crap the girl with Beast…plus when the CLAMP School Detectives showed up for the minor appearance. The amount of angst and bloody betrayals wore on me.)

    • I recently just bought CLOVER #3 too! Now only #4 missing in my collection. Oh well xD

Yeah, one must be “ok” with blood and angst to like X, that’s definitely true xD I love Yuzuriha and Sorata too! And the girl with beast is Satsuki XD

  5. You asked about DarkHorse in Mexico, I can say you can find stuff from them in ENGLISH T-T Not spanish. I found a lot of comics there…and TokyoPop Manga under a different name.

It’s hard to get actual MANGA in Mexico though, i didn’t have any luck during my 3 months there.

and they mentioned in the new Dark Horse interview at the con that Clover was being released as an omnibus…so i’m being hopeful for an english publication around the end of the year. I haven’t ever read Clover..i’ve started almost all the other CLAMP mange..but that one >.<

it's nice news to know though, pretty pictures!

    • But that’s still very nice! In Brazil we can’t find Dark Horse comics, not even in english. So I consider something very good to find it in english.

You’ll love CLOVER ^_~ open your heart to it and you’ll love it.

  6. CLAMP

I think clamp should had continued self publishing along with making commercial work because there they can end it their way,I think stopping making doujinshi made them quite greedy…..

    • Re: CLAMP

Since it started as a commercial thing, I think it’s wiser to finish it as a commercial thing. They might not have the means to release the tankoubon in the same format as the already released materials. It would look weird to have 4 volumes by Kodansha and the other 2 as doujinshi.

Not to mention that when they release it under Kodansha, that means it won’t be out of print, while if they make doujinshi, it’s probably going to be very limited copies.

it seems they like clover allot,

it seems that mangettes will not be like traditional manga or manhua it will probably read like ordinary books, since clamp had done some comics in horizontal text like shin shunkaden drama cd extra comics…
