Ohkawa currently working on anime plot, moving to a new home

These are the latest entries from Nanase Ohkawa’s Private Board of CLAMP-PLA.NET, both posted today. In the first one, she reveals that she’s been working on an anime plot, and the second post she says that she’s moving to a new house.

Kyaa, kyaa

Day by day, every day is a working day.

The Drama CD work and the anime plot (the planning part prior to writing the script) are in progress.

Ah, “Code Geass R2” has began.
Rolo is so cute and evil~.

Moving

I’m moving.

I’m moving after almost 9 years.
Even though I don’t have too much luggage, moving is still quite a trouble.

This is a chance to throw away unnecessary things.

Thank you for the translations, Freakazoid-san!

Quite an amazing news!! >.< She's currently working on an anime plot? I don't think it's for XXXHOLiC◆Kei, no. Like she said, the plot is an early stage prior to writing the scripts. And let's face it, the XXXHOLiC scripts must be way done already, it's one of the first stages of a TV production (or any sort of media production). Last time we heard, the staff was working in the storyboard of episode 12, and they can't do that without a script. If XXXHOLiC◆Kei will have only 12 episodes (basing on the DVD running times), then that means all scripts have been formally written.

So I would say this is definitely not for XXXHOLiC◆Kei. It could be for any possible future "XXXHOLiC" adaptation, but not "Kei". Anyway, you got it! XD

Yes, I am thinking she could be writing a continuation of Tsubasa Tokyo Revelations. Especially since she says she's plotting, as if it’s not a carbon-copy of the manga, and it requires a different planning.

About a year ago, also in April, Ohkawa posted a similar thing in her Private Board, that she was writing an anime script. Two months later, bang, the Tsubasa OADs were announced. The pattern is very similar.

These are my two cents about it. For now, you should know that Ohkawa is plotting an anime, which is already nice enough, whatever it will be ^_~

About the moving, 9 years since her last moving? But I thought that before 2005 they have always been living together in their studio, but apparently not? I remember reading in that Masters of Manga interview them saying that their former studio had three floors, the first floor being their office (where they worked) and the second and third floors is where their bedrooms were at. Maybe even back then they had their own houses, just didn’t live at them.

Anyway, CLAMP moves too much, they are always moving xD I wonder how much time until they move their studio again.

    • Very exciting! I already love it, whatever she is writing xD But yeah, I think it’s Tsubasa.

      >Lol~ I love how she watched Code Geass :3

      They do, they totally watch it ^^

    Oh my gosh please~ please!
    Today has been a really terrible day for me, as I lost someone dear to me in a car crash, and this cheers me up quite a bit; so thank you very much. ^__________^

  2. Didn’t they all move away from the studio at some point? (Or started to live apart?) Maybe Ohkawa continued to live at their studio while the other three found new abodes.

    • Indeed they have, it was in 2005 and all of them moved (including Ohkawa). That’s why I thought it was weird when she said that it’s been 9 years since her last moving.

  3. An anime in the plotting? Great news!
    Likely the project we heard about sooner, which is probably the continuation of the Tsubasa OADs. There’s no reason not to, with School Rumble and Negima having their own too. They even got themselves official name and logo for this kind of projects, they clearly don’t intend to stop with Negima, which mean Tsubasa’s first set of OAD was more than profitable.

    Now, will there be something for xxxHolic too? Is the Drama CD a survey to see if xxxHolic first edition will sell as well as Chobits’ or Tsubasa’s? I think so and I hope both answers will be “yes”.

    There’s still room for October among “Kodansha OAD Series”, a month earlier than last year though. Or maybe they’ll wait for December. Unless they feel safe enough to publish two OADs on the same month by the end of the year.

    July -> School Rumble 1/2
    August -> Negima 1/3
    September -> School Rumble 2/2
    October ->
    November -> Negima 2/3
    December ->
    January ->
    February -> Negima 3/3

    • Sugoi news, da na?

      >Likely the project we heard about sooner

      Likely the project Matsushita was talking about *nods*

      She’s still writing the script for the XXXHOLiC Drama CD, I thought she had done that already. Matsushita said the big project was for both Tsubasa and XXXHOLiC, so maybe there’s something in the works for XXXHOLiC too (unless he meant the Drama CD for XXXHOLiC).

      Thanks for that OAD schedule. I think that, because the pattern here is SO similar to last year’s, they might want to do the exact same strategy and:

      -announce the next OAD set in June in tankoubon 24’s obi (just like last year);
      -release tankoubon 25 in that interval;
      -release the first OAD in November along with tankoubon 26, that way it would only play against Negima 2/3.
      -release the second OAD in January with tankoubon 27, no competitors to play against with;
      -release the third and final OAD in March with tankoubon 28, also no competitors, and it would be the final tankoubon too. Manga ending with original ending (?)

      That’s just my theory xD

      • I would rather bet they will keep as little risk as possible and publish only one OAD at a time until the formula have proven safe enough.

        So I hope for Tsubasa in October, January and April, leaving December and March for xxxHolic. If they use the same team as for TTR, they should be able to make it for October as they are all familiar with the series now. Plus the three months between each OAD will give the anime crew and Clamp some slack.

        Anyway, that’s exciting. ^_^

        • Oh noes, a little change of plans. Kodansha announced today the list of comics scheduled for June and Tsubasa #24 is not there. So it’s gonna be released in July.

          Then we should have #25 in September, #26 in November (OAD 1), #27 in January (OAD 2) and #28 in March (OAD 3). That is, if they keep the same pace).

          >leaving December and March for xxxHolic

          That, supposing XXXHOLiC will have OADs too.

          Your guess could be right too, then we would have OAD 1 with tank #25 instead of #26.

            Which also mean they could do a series of 4 OADs this time! ^_^ (Infinity, Celes, Nihon+dreamland, Clow)

            >That, supposing XXXHOLiC will have OADs too.

            Which is exactly what I’m supposing/hoping for. ^_^

  4. Chibiyuto!!!! my Hero!

    Chibiyuto, you’re my god.

    A Tsubasa’s continuation you think….
    I don’t no why, but I hope it can be an animated adaptation of Oritsuba Gakuen in OADs…
    I think it can be gorgeous…

    But a third season of Tsubasa too.

    *CLAMP I love you!*

    And to XXXHolic Kei, I was hoping more than 12 episodes… raaaa…

    • Re: Chibiyuto!!!! my Hero!

      Hahaha !

      I don’t think a 3rd Season of Tsubasa is possible anymore, if the anime will get a conclusion, then it’s going to be through OADs.

      • Re: Chibiyuto!!!! my Hero!

        yeah I was talking about Tsubasa’s OADs (I’m so sorry if my english is a little hard to understand…)!

        But really hope it can be OADs about Horitsuba Gakuen! It can be wonderful!
        *CLAMP do you heard??*

        In lolessinma you said “it’s way too soon” to a Kobato adaptation.
        But it can be one OAD about Kobato’s first tests at the begining of the story…
        why not!

        Like

    • I find it hard to be Holitsuba, specially when they have a story that needs to wrap up (Holitsuba is an alternative story, after all).

      Kobato would be very interesting, but I think it’s way too soon. Maybe in a few years?

  5. As I said before, Infinty arc is my favorite arc..
    I really hope that our guesses are correct, and Infinty it is ^^.

    but, let us not forget that she did write “anime” which can be interpeted in many ways, maybe she’s talking about anime adaptation of kobato or legal drug.

    anyway, if it is tsubasa’s infinty’s adaptation , I just hope for 4 things:
    -that they’ll make it good (and they won’t censorize anything)
    -that the oad frequency will be shorter than tokyo revelations (two monthes each interval, I almost died!)
    -that somhow they’ll manage to show us Fay’s past they didn’t show in tokyo revelations
    -that they won’t hire Yuki Kaijura again (I think we had enough of her, isn’t it? ^_^)

    Like

    • Yeah, she didn’t mention which anime. It could EVEN be an original anime, not based in any CLAMP manga (but still written by Nanase Ohkawa), who knows?

      I’m positive it’s related to Tsubasa, but that’s just my own opinion ^^

      >that the oad frequency will be shorter than tokyo revelations

      But that’s the shortest gap they could have! It’s the time that CLAMP takes to produce an entire volume and also the required time for the anime staff to produce an episode. Any shorter than that would result in a VERY low-quality product.

      >that they won’t hire Yuki Kaijura again (I think we had enough of her, isn’t it? ^_^)

      Definitely XD But I think that unfortunately (fortunately for some ^^) she will be there again xD

  6. i think the anime plot it been like sakura kinomoto in tokyo revelations, but in Infinity, and not a total new story for a final ending for tsubasa… i hope, the next worlds are very cool just like the manga.
