Nanase Ohkawa (yes, that’s right) has posted some quite amusing news regarding her pen name in her Private Board at CLAMP-PLA.NET.
From March 1st onwards, CLAMP’s leader should be addressed as her prior pen name, Nanase Ohkawa.
Post about the name
4 years have already passed by the time we changed our names, in occasion of the 15th anniversary from our debut.
These days we were wondering if people gradually got used to our new names.
I, Ohkawa, decided to go back to the “Nanase Ohkawa” pen name.
There are a few reasons behind that, which are to follow.
I think that, from March 1st on, I will gradually go back using “Nanase” as my public name.
Even if the name has changed (came back?), the content hasn’t.
Please support me from now on too.
Post about the name – post-scriptum Ageha
Furthermore, I was the only one who restored my old name.

Thank you a million for the translation, Sakura-chan!
So there you go, folks. From now on, and formally from March 1st, Ageha Ohkawa no more, she’s switched it back to Nanase Ohkawa again.
I personally think she should have never changed it in the first place, she had quite an amazing curriculum under the name of “Nanase Ohkawa” after all (as a producer and script-writer). I remember how odd I thought the whole name changing thing was *he actually thought they were joking*
I confess I’m happy with the change, because that curriculum will start growing again. I just think it was a bit of a waste to change it and then reverse it again, kind of confusing too. Guess she wouldn’t have known if she didn’t try it.
There are a few reasons behind that, which are to follow
which are to follow, which are to follow… this gives me a feeling that one of the reasons is related to that meeting she had with Madhouse. What is she planning? Humm… I hope we’ll find out more about it.
Even if the name has changed (came back?), the content hasn’t.
Haha, how cute xD Lie. “Ageha” never wrote a single line for X… maybe she wants to write the entire series as “Nanase”, LOL! I always thought Nanase was cooler XDDDDDDDD
Now that I think of it… when I talked about her, I’ve never called her Ageha XDDD (I keep using all their old names, actually ^^u). And the few times I did, it didn’t come out naturally, more like ‘Nana… errr, Ageha, I mean’. I only respected their name-change wishes when I wrote about them ‘officially’, sharing news about them in our fansite, journals, boards… and even so, I listed both of them (sort of ‘Nanase/Ageha Ohkawa’). So no big deal for me, I guess, but it’s good to have Nanase back anyway xP Thanks for these curious news, though ^^

>I only respected their name-change wishes when I wrote about them ‘officially’, sharing news about them in our fansite, journals, boards… and even so, I listed both of them
I see ^^ Me too, in my Kobato website for example, it’s Ageha Ohkawa (also known as Nanase Ohkawa). Now I’ll have to change it to: Nanase Ohkawa (also knowna as Ageha Ohkawa) ^^”
>So no big deal for me, I guess
We can’t forget it’s Ohkawa we’re dealing with, the woman who wrote in XXXHOLiC how important your name is to yourself. That woman is planning something, I’m telling you, and I am excited about it, whatever it is XDDD
You’re welcome ^__^

I hope you’re right about her planning something. Nanase has better kanji anyway.

I just gotta love that woman. She just owns every bit of my soul, that’s all XD
Ageha is fancier and stylish, she could draw a butterfly in her sign (that makes me realize, she’ll have to change her sign too!).
However, Nanase is very cool too, more mature, somehow. And plus, there’s the kanji for “7”, the magical number, you just gotta love the number 7 xD

Oh it is my favorite number! 7-14 is my date of birth actually! 7 and its double 14! Hitsuzen! XDDD

Really? I got used to it… I guess I was the only one? XD I got used to both…
She appeared as both “Ageha Ohkawa” (series compositor) and “Nanase Ohkawa” (executive producer) on the XXXHOLiC OP.
She never really quit “Nanase” entirely

hehehe… I initially thought that Nanase sounded a little plain compared to Ageha. Then again, she was always just “Ohkawa” to me, so her given name never really registered in my head…

I met her as Nanase and I knew her as Nanase for 4 years or so…. so the change was really a huge surprise, I guess to everyone ^^
Yeah, the core, Ohkawa, won’t change. Whether is Nanase or Ageha, she’ll always be Ohkawa xD

Yo, Chibi-Yuuto!!
I see that she is going to change it back, ne? I don’t like being picky because I really loved both of her first names. However, I always addressed people by their last names and so I only called her as Ohkawa-san. =P So if she is going to be called as Nanase Ohkawa again, then I’m cool with that!! ^^ Arigatou gozaimasu for sharing this amusing news, ne! *glomps*
Ja ne, Chibi-Yuuto!

Most of the time I call her Ohkawa too, it’s a much stronger name and it’s how the media addresses to her, so we’re basically very used to Ohkawa.
I still think it’s a very important news, CLAMP members don’t change their pen names everyday… maybe at a 15 years interval, but not everyday xDDD

How confusing.

Well, Satsuki never really changed her, just the kanjis… and Mokona just dropped “Apapa”. Besides, she used “Nanase” for XXXHOLiC and CIW2’s productions. But it could be very confusing for some people xD

Will she move from a mangaka-sensei into anime-director???

I don’t think she’ll make such a drastic change. Her main job will always be mangaka, I think. But she might as well pursue new horizons and challenges involving animation.

woah, thanks for the news!, I REALLY got used to Ageha, and in my opinion
I got to like it better than Nanase, I thought Ageha sounded cooler and fancier
while I was getting used to it, but I do like Nanase as well and I was really used to it, it sounds cuter than Ageha (for me one sounds cool and the other cute xDDDD lolz) but I really always address her as Ohkawa-san, just if I feel like being specific I use her first name, but I’ll be fine with Nanase!, xD I just hope she doesn’t change it again, at least not soon! xD
I really do hope it has to do with madhouse! hahaha XD! *dreams*

and i guess it doesn’t matter to me, since i only know them by their last names…(except in kanji, where i think Nanase is plainer, but Ageha is kind of hard to remember :P)

Well, it’s not like this is going to influence on their works or anything but, I still see it as big news, specially if the reasons she mentioned are related to future projects.
And Ageha’s kanjis are totally and completely difficult to write xD

Me neither, but by now I got used to it, I guess because I spent most of my blogging days with their new names (and thus had to type their names more often).
Names are a big deal for me as well. For her to change it back, Ohkawa, who always plans her characters’ name so through, there must be one(some) good reason(s).

But I am really interested why so suddenly she changed her mind and comeback to Nanase?
I want to believe that you have right and she’s planing sth with coming back to Nanase.
It would be a really great idea to connect this with something else ^_^

I too am much more interested in her deeds rather than her name, but a name changing is not something that happens everyday (not even with CLAMP, maybe in a few years period xD). When you change your name you change your identity, your profile, that’s what I think anyway.

Hahaha of course you’re not the only one xDDD
I call her just “Ohkawa” 99% of the time. But I have a LJ and when I have to write news and informative texts, I have to use their public name, whatever they are xD
So I think that made me get used to it. Besides, I’m a very picky fan, I write XXXHOLiC with just the “i” in lowercase, and I’m always trying to remind myself from putting the dot at the end of Kobato., because that’s the official way *picky xD*
But her true essense, Ohkawa, will never change xDDD She’ll always be Ohkawa (I hope so XDDDDDD)

I prefer Ageha normally.
But Nanase-sensei becoming Ageha-sensei was a bit confusing for my little mind.
So now, if I call her again Nanase-sensei, it won’t be a mistake !
Great !
PS : I didn’t really understand their change of name. I just think that Mokona was too cute, and that Satsuki Igarashi just changing the kanjis was too class ^^
LikeLike
Or, you could just call her Ohkawa-sensei, since she never changed that one ^_~
Nobody really understood their change of names, don’t worry xD They simply felt like doing it, it’s their pen name, after all. Mokona thought “Apapa” was too childish (but then again, “Mokona” is too!), Nekoi didn’t like to always be related to Mick Jagger. Satsuki just changed the kanjis, and I don’t really know why Ohkawa changed hers.

Yes…but no XD I prefer call them by their first name (it’s not very polite, but it makes me fell closer to them XD).

Hahaha ! i didn’t like Mick, it was to “man” for me. Tsubaki is cuter ^^

Aaah! Good thing she reverse back to Nanase, I never get use to the Ageha anyway, I call her just Ohkawa since (Mokona always have been just Mokona, Satsuki always have been Satsuki and Mick is Nekoi since 2004). Now I can get back to Ohkawa Nanase. ^_^
And yeah, she had such a wide curriculum under Nanase, that’s a shame to start from a scratch again. What does she have under Ageha… 1) the Tsubasa Tokyo Revelations’ scripts, 2) four episodes on the first season of xxxHolic and the series supervisor’s title, 3) Clamp in Wonderland 1995-2006 as a producer (but the plan is under Ohkawa Nanase o.O). For the manga, xxxHolic, Tsubasa and Kobato are credited “Clamp”, so it doesn’t matter.
I wonder if the third Tsubasa OAD will be credited as Ohkawa Nanase (as it will be released after March 1st) or if it will stick to Ageha (as the OAD will be almost done by March 1st)…

>which are to follow, which are to follow… this gives me a feeling that one of the reasons is related to that meeting she had with Madhouse. What is she planning? Humm… I hope we’ll find out more about it.
Likely linked to some project under pre-production! ^_^
What else not state it all out in one post?
Hum… likely, the return of Nanase is to appeal people who aren’t too much into clamp’s stuff and won’t make the link between Ohkawa Nanase and Ohkawa Ageha, so it’s not about manga…
But these people will nevertheless know Ohkawa Nanase better than Ohkawa Ageha…
Maybe Nanase is to become director for a Madhouse series / movie / OVA that is not related to any manga from Clamp, so the president of the company don’t want Ohkawa to look like a total noobs with just a producer role in a minor project like a music clip, as Ohakawa Ageha appear to be. It would be better to use a name that is linked to many projects form Madhouse, like Ohkawa Nanase, who has been series supervisor and main scenarist for one of the most famous series of the studio, Card Captor Sakura, and various role in more than a dozaine of projects.

Hum, yeah, something tells me it’s about animation too. First the Madhouse meeting, now the name change, and she says she will reveal the reason later. Ohkawa’s always posting these foreshadowing things on her Board, like when she said she was writing anime scripts and some months later we had the announcement of Tokyo Revelations.
>Maybe Nanase is to become director for a Madhouse series / movie / OVA that is not related to any manga from Clamp
That would be very exciting!

That’s right, good points. She just shouldn’t have changed it in the first place… we would have those Ageha projects credited to Nanase and her curriculum would be even bigger.

I’m quite sure it’ll stick with Ageha. The project was announced as scripted by “Ageha Ohkawa”, the first two are credited as Ageha and the trailer says Ageha.
I ask that question for XXXHOLiC’s 2nd Season… it’s been announced already with Ageha Ohkawa as series supervisor, will they change it?

Right? Right? If Mokona-sensei changed her name, and she didn’t announce about the change but just posted the new pen name on the CLAMP member list, all of us would be wondering, “Eh? EEEEH!? Where did Mokona go!? Who’s this (insert random name here)?” ^^
Oh, the nickname URL thingie is done using something called OpenID (openid[dot]net). People who use services like LiveJournal, AOL and WordPress automatically have an OpenID id assigned to their username, so they can use it any where on websites which support OpenID. Since LiveJournal has it, I can use it on your journal. 🙂

Nanase name
I believe Nanase is cooler. Ageha sounds strange, at least for me.
I would like to ask u something: all clamp except ohkawa has used their names for one of the characters. Mokona Apapa put her name to Mokona in Magic Knights Rayearth and Tsubasa and Holic. Nekoi appears in X 1999 and Satsuki’s name is used also in X(in a dragon of earth).
but has ever(nanase, ageha or even ohkawa) appear as a name or last name for one of their characters?? I have read almost all of their important works and I don’t remember a single character with that name or last name…

You’re right. Although I thought that Princess Mokona had come before really, you know? The story of that spoilt princess, all made in chibi version, the same that appears in the ending of the first Clamp in Wonderland. Which years is that from? I just downloaded an artbook with a short story about her. Unfortunately, it’s in Japanese but I can understand the meaning of the story at least.
In the story you can see that the spoilt princess (Mokona) is bullying her servants (Satsuki and Nekoi) and they go to the queen for help (Ohkawa) and the queen kicks the princess out of the castle to teach her to be more considerate. Here comes the funny part, because she meets in turn each of the three detectives, Akira, Suoh and Nokoru, and each of them treats her badly and robs her of her belongings (yes! Nokoru treating a girl badly!) After that, Mokona returns to the castle in tears I think promising to be better afterwards, and you see in the final square the two servants bringing her things back to her.
With that, I can see how Mokona is everyone’s pet in the group ^-^
